Description
図1は、本発明の第1の実施の形態に係る紙葉類の異物の付着を検出する紙葉類処理装置の概略構成を示している。この紙葉類処理装置は、図1に示されるように、搬送される紙葉類10に超音波を照射する音源16を備えている。この音源16は、パルス信号発生部24から送られてくる信号に応じた超音波を発生し、複数の搬送ローラ6から構成される搬送機構によって平坦性を維持するように矢印方向に搬送される紙葉類10に超音波を照射する。音源16は、例えば、圧電振動子等の超音波トランスデューサ等を使用すればよい。
異物が紙葉類の端部周辺に付着している場合、付着物の検出感度は低下するため、付着物のサイズが小さくなると正確な判定がなされない恐れがある。この変形例は紙葉類10の端部周辺の付着物の検出感度を向上させる手法であり、この変形例について図面を用いて説明する。

Claims (2)
- 搬送される紙葉類に対して超音波を照射する超音波発生源と、
前記紙葉類の搬送方向を横切る方向に配列され、前記超音波発生源とは非接触で配置され、前記紙葉類を通過した前記超音波の音圧を検出する複数の第1の検出素子を有する検出アレイと、を有し、
所定の標準値と前記音圧とを比較し、前記紙葉類の状態を判定し、
前記搬送方向の上流側に、前記検出アレイと並列して配列され、前記超音波の音圧を検出する複数の第2の検出素子をさらに有し、前記紙葉類を検知してからの時間を測定して前記検出アレイによる前記紙葉類の検出位置を検出することを特徴とする紙葉類処理装置。 - 前記検出アレイは前記紙葉類を横断する幅を有すると共に、前記検出アレイ中央部の前記検出素子の幅は、アレイ端部の前記検出素子の幅よりも大きくすることを特徴とする請求項1記載の紙葉類処理装置。
