Description
Claims (18)
- 小型光源と、
前記小型光源から入射される光の放射角度を狭めて側方に出射させる放物面形態の第1反射面と、前記第1反射面の下方に位置して前記小型光源から光が入射される入光部が設けられた第2反射面と、を備えるコリメート部材と、を備え、
前記小型光源は、前記第1反射面の焦点付近に位置し、かつ
前記コリメート部材は、前記入光部のエッジに傾いて形成されて前記小型光源から放射された光のうち、放射角度が前記第1反射面の側方の開口角より小さな光を反射させて前記第1反射面に入射させる第3反射面をさらに備える、
ことを特徴とする小型光源モジュール。 - 前記小型光源は、該光源の光軸が前記第1反射面の主軸に対して垂直配置されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の小型光源モジュール。
- 前記第2反射面は、前記第1反射面の主軸に対して前記側方の開口が小さくなる方向に傾いて設けられ、前記小型光源は、該光源の光軸が前記主軸に対して前記第2反射面の前記主軸に対する傾斜角度と同じ傾斜角度で設けられることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の小型光源モジュール。
- 前記第1反射面と前記第2反射面間の内部空間には冷媒が充填されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の小型光源モジュール。
- 前記コリメート部材は、前記放物面形態の外面と前記平面形態の下面及び光が出射される側面を持つ透光体で形成され、前記外面及び前記下面の前記入光部を除外した部分は反射処理によって前記第1及び第2反射面を形成し、かつ前記コリメート部材は、前記入光部のエッジに傾いて形成されて前記小型光源から放射された光のうち、放射角度が前記第1反射面の側方の開口角より小さな光を反射させて、前記第1反射面に入射させる前記第3反射面を形成する、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の小型光源モジュール。
- 前記コリメート部材の両側部には、平面形態の密着面が形成されたことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の小型光源モジュール。
- 前記コリメート部材と前記小型光源との間には、屈折率が前記コリメート部材の屈折率よりは高くて、前記小型光源の屈折率よりは低い屈折率マッチング部材が介在されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の小型光源モジュール。
- 照明ユニット、前記照明ユニットから入射された光を画像データに合せて変調する光変調素子、前記光変調素子から出射された光を拡大投射する投射光学系を備える投射型画像表示装置において、前記照明ユニットは、
小型光源と、
前記小型光源から入射される光の放射角度を狭めて側方に出射させる放物面形態の第1反射面と、前記第1反射面の下方に位置して前記小型光源から光が入射される入光部が設けられた第2反射面を備えるコリメート部材と、を備える少なくとも一つの小型光源モジュールと、を備え、
前記小型光源は、前記第1反射面の焦点付近に位置し、かつ
前記コリメート部材は、前記入光部のエッジに傾いて形成されて前記小型光源から放射された光のうち、放射角度が前記第1反射面の側方の開口角より小さな光を反射させ前記第1反射面に入射させる第3反射面をさらに備える、
ことを特徴とする投射型画像表示装置。 - 前記小型光源は、該光源の光軸が前記第1反射面の主軸に対して垂直配置されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
- 前記第2反射面は、前記第1反射面の主軸に対して前記側方の開口が小さくなる方向に傾いて設けられ、前記小型光源は、該光源の光軸が前記主軸に対して前記第2反射面の前記主軸に対する傾斜角度と同じ傾斜角度で設置されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
- 前記第1反射面と前記第2反射面間の内部空間には、冷媒が充填されたことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
- 前記コリメート部材は、前記放物面形態の外面と前記平面形態の下面及び光が出射される側面を持つ透光体で形成され、前記外面及び前記下面の前記入光部を除外した部分は反射材料をコーティングする処理によって前記第1及び第2反射面を形成し、前記コリメート部材は、前記下面と前記入光部との境界をなす傾いた傾斜面をさらに備え、前記傾斜面は反射処理されて、前記小型光源から放射された光のうち、放射角度が前記第1反射面の側方の開口角より小さな光を反射させて、前記第1反射面に入射させる前記第3反射面を形成する、ことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
- 前記コリメート部材の両側部には、平面形態の密着面が形成されたことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
- 前記コリメート部材と前記小型光源との間には、屈折率が前記コリメート部材の屈折率よりは高くて、前記小型光源の屈折率よりは低い屈折率マッチング部材が介在されたことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
- 2次元配列された複数の小型光源モジュールを備えることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
- 前記複数の小型光源モジュールの開口の横縦比は、前記光変調素子の開口の横縦比と一致するように配列されることを特徴とする請求項15に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
- いずれか一列に配置される小型光源モジュールは、隣接する他の列の小型光源モジュール間に位置するように配列されることを特徴とする請求項15に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
- 一列をなす複数の小型光源モジュールのコリメート部材は一体に形成されることを特徴とする請求項15に記載の投射型画像表示装置。
