Claims (9)
- 手持ち式医療機器を提供するステップと、
前記手持ち式医療機器と通信している基底ユニットを設けるステップであって、前記基底ユニットは前記手持ち式医療機器の電池を充電するために電源に電気接続を設けるように構成されている、基底ユニットを提供するステップと、
前記基底ユニットが、そのソフトウェア又はファームウェアを更新するステップと、
を含み、
前記基底ユニットのソフトウェア又はファームウェアの更新の必要性の有無を前記手持ち式医療機器が判定し、当該更新の必要性を示す情報を有する前記データストリームを前記基底ユニットが前記手持ち式医療機器から受け取ると、前記基底ユニットによって前記ソフトウェア又はファームウェアの更新が開始される方法。 - 前記基底ユニットを介して、前記手持ち式医療機器が前記更新の必要性を示す情報を受け取るステップをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 基底ユニットを提供するステップと、
前記基底ユニットと通信しかつ電気的にインターフェースする手持ち式医療機器を提供するステップと、
前記手持ち式医療機器を使用して、前記基底ユニットのソフトウェア又はファームウェアの更新の必要性を示す情報を、前記基底ユニットを介して受け取るステップであって、前記基底ユニットは前記更新の必要性を示す情報を無視するステップと、
データストリームにおいて前記更新の必要性を示す情報を前記手持ち式医療機器から前記基底ユニットに通信するステップであって、前記手持ち式医療機器が追加的な情報を前記データストリームに追加する、ステップと、
前記基底ユニットを使用して前記データストリームを受け取るステップと、を含み、
前記基底ユニットは、前記追加的な情報を検出することにより前記更新の必要性を示す情報を無視することがない方法。 - さらに、前記基底ユニットを通信ネットワークに接続するステップと、前記基底ユニットのソフトウェア又はファームウェアの更新の必要性を示す情報を前記通信ネットワークから受け取るステップと、を含む、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 基底ユニットを介して手持ち式医療機器と双方向で通信している要求側ユニットを提供するステップと、
前記手持ち式医療機器に対し、前記基底ユニットに関するステータス情報を含む機器データに関する問合わせを前記要求側ユニットから送信するステップと、
前記基底ユニットを介して前記問合わせを前記手持ち式医療機器に伝達するステップと、
前記基底ユニットを介して、前記基底ユニットに関するステータス情報を含む前記機器データを前記手持ち式医療機器から前記要求側ユニットに送信するステップと、
前記基底ユニットのソフトウェアもしくはファームウェアに対する更新が必要とされているかどうかを知るために前記ステータス情報を確認するステップと、
必要とされているとき、前記基底ユニットを介して、更新の必要性を示す情報を前記要求側ユニットから前記手持ち式医療機器に送信するステップとを含む、システムを管理しかつ運用する方法。 - 手持ち式医療機器であって、マイクロプロセッサと、第1の通信インターフェースと、前記手持ち式医療機器に電力を供給する電池とを有する手持ち式医療機器と、
前記手持ち式医療機器の前記電池を充電するために電力を電源から供給するように構成された電気接続と、前記手持ち式医療機器の前記第1の通信インターフェースと通信するように構成された第2の通信インターフェースと、基底ユニットのソフトウェア又はファームウェアを更新するように構成されたマイクロコントローラとを有する前記基底ユニットと、を備え、
前記基底ユニットのソフトウェア又はファームウェアの更新の必要性の有無を前記手持ち式医療機器のマイクロプロセッサが判定し、前記第1および第2の通信インターフェースを介して、当該更新の必要性を示す情報を有する前記データストリームを前記基底ユニットが前記手持ち式医療機器から受け取ると、前記基底ユニットによってソフトウェア又はファームウェアの更新が開始される装置。 - さらに、前記基底ユニットに接続されたネットワークを備え、
前記手持ち式医療機器は、前記基底ユニットを通じて前記ネットワークと通信しており、前記手持ち式医療機器は、前記基底ユニットを介して前記基底ユニットのソフトウェア又はファームウェアの更新の必要性を示す情報を前記ネットワークから受け取るように構成される、請求項6に記載の装置。 - さらに、前記手持ち式医療機器を介してユーザによって入力されたコマンドを実行するステップを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- さらに、基底ユニットステータス情報を前記手持ち式医療機器に送信するステップを含み、
前記基底ユニットステータス情報は、前記基底ユニットが適切な動作可能状態にあることを示すデータ、前記基底ユニットに関わる不具合または潜在的な問題を示すデータ、前記基底ユニットの製造番号を示すデータ、前記基底ユニットの物理的位置を示すデータ、前記基底ユニットの通信設定を示すデータ、使用頻度/摩耗計測のためにドッキング事象の回数を示すデータ、ならびに前記基底ユニットの現在のソフトウェアおよび/またはファームウェアバージョンを示すデータの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
