ング信号は同期変調(coherent modulation)を用いて伝送される。同期変調の例は直角
位相偏移キーイング変調及び直角振幅変調を含む。本開示の非同期変調技術は変調信号の復号化のためにチャネル情報を必要としない。従って、非同期変調信号は復号化処理においてチャネル情報を獲得し、および/または使用することに時間を割かなくても迅速に復号することが通常できる。同期変調技術は変調信号の復号化のためにチャネル情報を使用する。従って、非同期変調技術より高い符号化率に大抵対応すると同時に、同期変調はデバイスが同期変調信号を確実に復号する前に正確なチャネル推定及び/または他のチャネル情報を獲得する時間を費やすデバイスを必要とする。
群識別(ID)ビット及び拡張ビットを含む。群IDビットはどちらの特定の群が第一ページング信号メッセージ252によって呼出されつつあるメンバーを、もしあれば、持つかを伝達するために変調される第一ページング信号メッセージ252中にいくつかのビットを含む。拡張ビットは呼出しを持つ群内のWTが異なる群に通常関連する時間に、第二ページング信号メッセージ254を探すべきことを示すために、第一ページング信号メッセージ252に設定されるビットを含む。拡張ビットは一つの群内の多数のWTが同時に呼出される必要があるところで使用され、所定の時間に通常使用される第二ページング信号メッセージ254は情報を伝えるのに十分な能力を持っていない。WT関連情報268はBS200が呼出しを受取る各個々のWT(固有のIPアドレス290を持つWT)と群IDビットによって識別された群とを関連づけることを可能にする情報を含む。タイミング情報270は第一ページング信号メッセージ252をWTへ伝送するときを定義する情報を含む。例えば、タイミング情報270は第一ページング・メッセージ信号伝送のためのスーパー・スロット内の特定のOFDMシンボル期間、ページング間隔セグメント(例えば、連続する第一ページング信号間の繰返し間隔)、ページング間隔(例えば、ページング群の二つの連続する立上がり期間の間の繰返し間隔)、及び/または第一ページング信号の伝送タイミング制御のために使用されるビーコン・スロットを定義する。各立上がり期間におけるWTの電池電力消費は非常に少ないので、本発明において、ページング・システムはWTの全体の電池電力消費を低く保ちながらページング待ち時間を減少させるために比較的小さなページング・サイクル、例えば、約100ミリ秒を採用することができる。
第二ページング信号システム情報342はトーン情報362、変調情報364、第二ページング情報ビット366、WT識別情報368、及びタイミング情報370を含む。トーン情報362は受信第二ページング信号メッセージ346を抜き出すために、受信第二ページング・メッセージ信号を処理するために使用されるように定義された一組のトーンを含む。いくつかの実施例では、トーンはホッピング系列に続く。
Claims (16)
- 無線端末を動作させる方法であって、
第一ページング信号を受信するために休眠動作モードから立上がること、
復調情報を造出するために前記第一ページング信号に非同期復調動作を行うこと、
ページング・メッセージが伝送されたことを前記復調情報が示すかどうかを判定すること、及び
ページング・メッセージが伝送されたことを前記復調情報が示すことが判定されれば、第二ページング信号に同期復調動作を行うこと、
を含む方法。 - ページング・メッセージが伝送されなかったことを前記復調情報が示すことが判定されれば、休眠動作モードに戻ることをさらに含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- ページング・メッセージが伝送されたことを前記復調情報が示すことが判定されれば、前記同期復調動作を行う前にチャネル推定動作を行うことをさらに含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記第一ページング信号は4シンボル時間より少ない継続時間を有し、シンボル時間はシンボルを伝送するために使用される時間の大きさであり、
前記第二ページング信号は少なくとも10シンボルの継続時間を有し、そして
前記第二ページング信号を受取る前に前記チャネル推定動作が開始される、請求項3記載の方法。 - 前記第二ページング信号を受取る前に前記休眠動作モードへ戻ること、
前記第二ページング信号を受取る前の別の時間に休眠動作モードから立上がること、
前記第二ページングを受取る前にチャネル推定動作を開始することをさらに含み、
前記休眠動作モードから立上げられる際に発生する稼働動作モードにおいて動作するときより前記休眠動作モードにおいては少ない電力を前記無線端末は消費する、請求項1記載の方法。 - 前記非同期復調動作はチャネル情報を使わず、そして前記同期復調動作は前記復調動作を行うために通信チャネル推定値を使用する、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記第一ページング信号は第一のビット数を含み、そして前記第二ページング信号は前記第一のビット数より大きい第二のビット数を含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記第二ページング信号を復調して得られた情報は無線端末識別子の少なくとも一部を含み、前記方法はさらに、
前記ページが前記無線端末に向けられたかどうかを無線端末識別子の前記少なくとも一部から判断することを含む、請求項7記載の方法。 - 前記第一ページング信号を復調することによって得られた無線端末群識別情報と組合わせて、無線端末識別子の前記少なくとも一部は、前記無線端末が位置し、前記ページング・メッセージが伝送される通信システムにおいて、どちらかの無線端末を一意的に識別する唯一の無線端末識別子を提供する、請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記第二ページング信号を復調することによって得られた前記復調情報は前記ページング・メッセージの少なくとも一部を含む、請求項9記載の方法。
- 第一ページング信号に対応するページング・メッセージが伝送されるかどうかを示す変調情報を再生するために、第一ページング信号に非同期復調動作を行うための手段と、
第一ページング信号に対応するページング・メッセージが伝送されるであろうことを、前記第一ページング信号から再生された情報が示すとき、事前選択時間に第二形式の第二ページング信号を受取るように無線端末を制御し、および休眠動作モードに入り、第一ページング信号に対応するページング・メッセージが伝送されないであろうことを、前記第一ページング信号から再生された前記情報が示す前記事前選択時間の後まで、前記休眠動作モードに留まるように無線端末を制御するための制御手段と、及び
ページング・メッセージの少なくとも一部を含む変調情報を再生するために受信第二ページング信号に同期復調動作を行うための手段と、
を具備する無線端末。 - ページング・メッセージが伝送されるであろうことを示す情報を含む第一ページング信号の受取りに続いて、および前記第二ページング信号の受取りの前にチャネル推定動作を行うための手段をさらに具備する、請求項11記載の無線端末。
- ページング・メッセージが伝送されるであろうことを示す情報を含む第一ページング信号の受取りに続いて、休眠動作モードに入るように前記無線端末を制御し、および前記事前選択時間の前にさらなる稼働状態に前記無線端末を立上げるためのタイミング制御手段をさらに具備する、請求項12記載の無線端末。
- 前記第二ページング信号を復調することによって得られた前記情報が、前記無線端末に対応する識別子を含むかどうかを判定するための制御論理、及び
前記情報が前記無線端末に対応する識別子を含むことが判定されたとき、前記第二ページング信号を復調することによって得られた情報に応答して行動を取り、および前記第二ページング信号を復調することによって得られた前記情報が前記無線端末に対応する識別子を含まないことが判定されたとき、休眠動作モードに入るように前記無線端末を制御するための制御手段を具備する、請求項13記載の無線端末。 - ページング・メッセージが伝送されたかどうかを示す変調情報を再生するために、第一ページング信号に非同期復調動作を行う手段はオン/オフ変調復調器、直交変調復調器、及び差分変調復調器の少なくとも一つを含む、請求項11記載の無線端末。
- 第二ページング信号に対する同期復調動作を行う手段は、直角位相偏移キーイング変調復調器及び直角振幅変調復調器の少なくとも一つを含む、請求項11記載の無線端末。
