Claims (10)
- 光源と、
前記光源によって放出された光を主軸を有する必要な光路に収束させる光照明システムと、
前記光学照明システムによって収束された前記光を光学的に変調するために、パネル面において配向され、かつ内部にスロー軸およびファースト軸を有する液晶ディスプレイ・パネルと、
前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルによって変調された前記光を拡大および投射する投射レンズと、
第1直線偏光軸を有する第1直線偏光をほぼ垂直入射において前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルの上に透過させるための、前記光照明システムによって収束された光を受光するように配置された第1偏光手段と、
第2直線偏光軸を有する第2直線偏光を放出して、それを前記投射レンズに出力するための、前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルによって光学的に変調された前記光を受光するように配置された第2偏光手段と、
傾斜軸の回りに鋭角傾斜角度だけ前記パネル面から離れて傾斜し、かつ前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルと前記第1偏光手段および前記第2偏光手段の少なくとも一方との間に配置された、1軸C対称性を有するリターダンス補償プレートとを備え、
前記傾斜軸が前記パネル面に平行であり、
前記リターダンス補償プレートのスロー軸またはファースト軸が、前記傾斜軸と位置合わせされ、
前記傾斜角度が、前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルの残留Aプレート・リターダンスを補正する量について正味のリターダンスを導入するように調整され、
前記傾斜軸が、前記第1直線偏光軸および前記第2直線偏光軸と非平行である、液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。 - 前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルが、透過型液晶ディスプレイ・パネルである、請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。
- 前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルが、反射型液晶ディスプレイ・パネルであり、
前記第1偏光手段および前記第2偏光手段が、前記主軸から約45度に配向されそれぞれ透過および反射のために配置されたビーム分割表面を有する偏光ビーム分割器に統合され、
前記第1直線偏光軸および前記第2直線偏光軸が直交する、請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。 - 前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルが、垂直配向型ネマチック液晶オン・シリコン(VAN−LCoS)パネルである、請求項3に記載の液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。
- 前記リターダンス補償プレートが、複数の無機透明層をもつ複屈折性反射防止コーティングを有し、入口表面および出口表面の少なくとも一方の上に配置される、請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。
- 前記複屈折性反射防止コーティングが、+Cプレート・リターダンスまたは−Cプレート・リターダンスを有する、請求項5に記載の液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。
- 前記リターダンス補償プレートの補償リターダンスの大きさが、前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルの残留リターダンスの大きさより大きくなるように、前記傾斜角度が調節される、請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。
- 前記液晶ディスプレイ・パネルにおいて生成される像が、前記第2偏光手段の出口側において最適なコントラストを有するように、前記主軸の回りの前記傾斜角度の方位角配向が選択される、請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。
- 前記リターダンス補償プレートの前記スロー軸が、前記第1直線偏光軸から約45度または約135度に傾斜される、請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。
- 前記リターダンス補償プレートが、それぞれが前記傾斜角にほぼ等しいくさび角度を有する2つのくさび形プリズムの間に挟まれ、それにより、前記2つのくさび型プリズムおよび前記リターダンス補償プレートが、平行平面を有する光学素子を形成する、請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ・プロジェクタ。
