Description
図1は、本発明による短繊維の製造方法を説明するための模式図である。この図1において、図1(a)は、長単繊維群が繊維軸に沿って平行に引き揃えられた繊維束1を示し、図1(b)は、前記繊維束1に熱収縮チューブ2を被覆した後、この熱収縮チューブ2を収縮させた状態を示し、そして、図1(c)は、熱収縮チューブ2を被覆した繊維束1を型枠に入れて加圧して、矩形断面を有する被切断材10とした状態をそれぞれ示す。
単繊維繊度が4dtexである単繊維群をハンク・ワインダーを使用して定法に従って繊維軸方向へ平行に引き揃えて総繊度が300万dtexのポリエステルからなる繊維束を準備した。次いで、熱収縮チューブとして、その材質がポリオレフィン(住友電工株式会社製、商品名:スミチューブ LA黒 50)からなる内径50mm、肉厚0.5mm、収縮率が加熱温度100℃で30%以上のものを用いて、張力として5kgfを予め付与した状態の前記繊維束に被せた状態で熱風供給ノズルから約100℃の熱風を吹出して熱収縮チューブの一端から多端へと熱収縮チューブを順次熱収縮させた。
これに対して、本発明のような方法を用いず、単繊維群を引き揃えただけの繊維束を用いただけが実施例と同じ条件で、切断長が0.1mmと1.0mmの短繊維を製造した。その結果、切断長が0.1mmの短繊維を得ようとしたが多量のミスカットが発生し、切断長が0.1mmの短繊維を製造することができなかった。また、切断長が1.0mmの短繊維については、カットすることはできたが、その製造歩留まりは本発明の方法と比較して格段に低く、工業的規模で実施できるものではなかった。

Claims (5)
- 繊維軸方向に沿って平行に引き揃えられた長単繊維群からなる繊維束を熱収縮チューブによって被覆後に加熱して熱収縮させ、収縮後の熱収縮チューブで被覆された繊維束を型枠内で圧縮成形して前記単繊維群を更に高密度に密集させ、高密度に密集させた繊維束を切断長が0.01mm以上、1mm未満の短繊維に切断することを特徴とする短繊維の製造方法。
- 前記熱収縮チューブを繊維束に被覆させて熱収縮させるに際して、繊維束に所定の張力を付与することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の短繊維の製造方法。
- 前記熱収縮チューブを繊維束に被覆させて熱収縮させるに際して、熱収縮チューブの一端から他端へと加熱位置を移動させながらゾーン加熱することを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の短繊維の製造方法。
- 前記圧縮成形によって熱収縮チューブで被覆された繊維束の断面形状を矩形断面とすることを特徴とする、請求項1〜3の何れかに記載の短繊維の製造方法。
- 前記繊維束が合成繊維からなり、繊維束を構成する長単繊維の繊度が0.1〜10dtexであって、繊維束の総繊度が1万〜1000万dtexであることを特徴とする、請求項1〜4の何れかに記載の短繊維の製造方法。
