Description
以下、本発明による光信号品質モニタ装置の第1の実施形態を、図面を参照しながら説明する。
図1は、第1の実施形態に係る光信号品質モニタ装置の構成を示すブロック図である。
次に、第1の実施形態に係る光信号品質モニタ装置100の動作(光信号品質モニタ方法)を説明する。
第1の実施形態によれば、入力光信号を2分岐し、一方の分岐光信号を、オフセットをかけた信号で変調することにより、低周波の信号に変換し、この低周波信号の強度と、他方の分岐光信号の強度との比率で、入力光信号の波形品質をモニタするようにしたので、高いビットレートの光信号であってもその品質を適切に捉えることができるようになる。
次に、本発明による光信号品質モニタ装置の第2の実施形態を、図面を参照しながら説明する。
次に、本発明による光信号品質モニタ装置の第3の実施形態を、図面を参照しながら説明する。
上記各実施形態では、例として、チャープのないガウシアンのパルスで、繰り返し周波数が160GHzの短パルス列を用いた場合で説明したが、変調を行った信号についても用いることができ、他のパルス形状でも用いることができる。また、低域周波数Δfも、1GHzに限定されるものではない。
Claims (7)
- 入力光信号を2分岐する分岐手段と、
EA変調器を内蔵し、一方の分岐光信号に対し、上記EA変調器で、上記入力光信号の周波数の1/N(Nは自然数)の周波数にオフセットを付与した信号でEA変調して上記オフセットのN倍の周波数を有する低周波数信号を得る低周波変換手段と、
得られた低周波数信号を所定帯域に制限すると共に電気信号に変換する低周波光電変換手段と、
上記分岐手段から出力された分岐光信号を電気信号に変換した後、低域成分を濾波し、又は、上記分岐手段から出力された分岐光信号の低域成分を濾波した後、電気信号に変換する基準信号生成手段と、
電気信号に変換された他方の分岐光信号の低域成分を基準にして、電気信号に変換された低周波数信号の強度比を得る強度比算出手段と、
得られた強度比を予め登録されている特性と共に表示出力させる、若しくは、得られた強度比を予め登録されている特性と照合して上記入力光信号の品質パラメータを得る品質モニタ手段と
を有することを特徴とする光信号品質モニタ装置。 - 上記分岐手段、上記低周波変換手段、上記低周波光電変換手段、上記基準信号生成手段及び上記強度比算出手段とを有する処理系統を2系統以上備え、
少なくとも1系統は、上記低周波変換手段に至る前の一方の分岐光信号に広スペクトル光を重畳する雑音光重畳手段を有する
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光信号品質モニタ装置。 - 上記分岐手段、上記低周波変換手段、上記低周波光電変換手段、上記基準信号生成手段及び上記強度比算出手段とを有する処理系統を2系統以上備え、
少なくとも1系統は、上記低周波変換手段に至る前の一方の分岐光信号を通過させる光バンドパスフィルタを有する
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光信号品質モニタ装置。 - 上記分岐手段に至る前に、入力光信号の偏光状態を変更する偏光状態変更手段を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光信号品質モニタ装置。
- 上記偏光状態変更手段は、入力光信号の偏光状態を周期的に変動させるものであることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の光信号品質モニタ装置。
- 上記偏光状態変更手段は、偏光状態を偏光子によって変動させることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の光信号品質モニタ装置。
- 上記偏光状態変更手段は、偏光状態を電気光学効果を発揮する光学素子によって変動させることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の光信号品質モニタ装置。
