Description
ガラス基板上にITOを成膜した後、エッチングを施し、厚さ300nmの陽極および陰極接続端子を形成する。陰極接続端子の幅は200μmとする。
基板の外周付近の不要部分を切断除去し、陽極に信号電極ドライバを接続し、陰極接続端子に走査電極ドライバを接続する。
陰極接続端子の上に第2の構造体16を設けた点を除き、例1と同様に形成した有機ELディスプレイを製造する。
図10および図11に示すように第1の構造体の他に第2の構造体16を陰極接続端子の上に設け、万一、有機材料の溶液が第1の構造体を越えて陰極と陰極接続端子との接続位置に流入した場合でも、接続位置全体に溶液が広がらないように接続位置の領域を6つに区分けする。第2の構造体16の幅は10μmとし、高さは0.4μmとする。
例1と同様に有機ELディスプレイを製造する。ただし、絶縁膜に表示画素となる開口部4Aのみを設け、陰極接続端子の一部を囲む構造体は設けない。
例1と異なり、有機EL素子の溶液を塗布する際、陰極接続端子3と陰極7との接続部分に溶液が流入するため、陰極接続端子3と陰極7の接続抵抗が高くなり、発熱に起因すると考えられる接続不良が発生する。

Claims (4)
- 基板上に第1の電極、表示画素となる位置に開口部を有する絶縁膜、複数の有機化合物層、第2の電極を順に積層し、第1の電極を形成した領域以外の領域に第2の電極と接続する接続端子を形成する有機ELディスプレイの製造方法であって、
接続端子の第2の電極との接続領域の周囲に、絶縁膜と同一材料で第1の構造体を形成した後、前記有機化合物層の少なくとも一層の液状材料を塗布する工程を有し、
第1の構造体は、絶縁膜と分離して設けるとともに、接続端子の第2の電極との接続領域への液状材料の流入を防止するように接続領域を囲むように形成することを特徴とする有機ELディスプレイの製造方法。 - 絶縁膜と第1の構造体を同時に形成する請求項1に記載の有機ELディスプレイの製造方法。
- 第1の構造体に囲まれた領域内に、第1の構造体に囲まれた領域を複数の領域に分割する第2の構造体を設ける請求項1または2に記載の有機ELディスプレイの製造方法。
- 絶縁膜の上に、第2の電極を分離する隔壁を形成し、第1の構造体の上には隔壁を形成しない請求項1、2または3に記載の有機ELディスプレイの製造方法。
