Description
この特許文献1に記載された摩擦攪拌接合装置は、先端にピンを有する回転子を、高速で回転させながらワーク(アルミニウム板)に押圧し、そのワーク(アルミニウム板)を軟化、攪拌させることでスポット接合を行うものである。
それは、この方法によると、アルミニウム材のみを摩擦攪拌するため、回転ツールのピンの長さを鋼材まで挿入しないように短く設定する必要があるが、このように回転ツールのピンの長さが短くなると、回転ツールの旋回中心が決まらず、接合時に接合位置が安定しないという問題である。
すなわち、接合の初期段階では、回転ツールの加圧力を低くして、アルミニウム部材を摩擦熱により軟化させて回転ツールの旋回中心を安定させ、接合の後期段階では、回転ツールの加圧力を高めることにより、アルミニウム部材を塑性流動させる共に、鋼部材の金属めっき層を排出して、アルミニウム部材と鋼部材を接合するのである。
このため、金属めっき層を形成した鋼部材であっても、アルミニウム部材と固相状態で接合することができる。
図1は、金属部材のスポット接合方法に用いる接合装置の概略構成を示しており、この接合装置Aは、例えば、自動車ボディ等に用いられるアルミニウム合金等からなるアルミニウム板W1(JIS6000系アルミニウム板)(図3参照)と鋼板W2(亜鉛めっき鋼板)(図3参照)とを金属部材として、その両板面を重ねた状態で接合するために用いられる。
この実験データからは、1番目と2番目のように、1段目を高い加圧力として、2段目を低い加圧力とすると、接合を充分に行うことができず、回転ツール4にアルミニウムが凝着してしまうことが分かる。
また、この実施態様では、前記回転ツール4は、ピン部4b周りのショルダー部4cに環状の凹部4dを形成したものである。

Claims (1)
- アルミニウム部材と、該アルミニウム部材より融点の高い鋼部材を重ね合わせ、鋼部材まで挿入しないように短く設定したピン部を中央に有する回転ツールを回転させ、アルミニウム部材のみを摩擦攪拌して、
摩擦熱によりスポット溶接する金属部材のスポット接合方法であって、
前記鋼部材の接合面には金属めっき層が形成されており、
前記回転ツールを、アルミニウム部材側から回転させながら回転軸芯方向に移動させ、
加圧力を段階的に増加させながら、合わせ面付近まで押込み、摩擦熱によりアルミニウム部材を塑性流動させて、
前記金属めっき層を回転ツールの旋回中心より外周方向に排出し、
前記金属めっき層がなくなった両金属部材の合わせ面を接合する
