Description

【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In the present invention, an engine having a fuel injection valve in an intake system and a fuel tank disposed above the engine are mounted on a body frame, and exhaust pipes extending from the front of the engine are connected to the left and right sides of the engine. The present invention relates to a rational arrangement structure of a fuel pump that pumps fuel to the fuel injection valve in a motorcycle that is bent to the side and bent backward.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, in such a motorcycle, it is already known that a fuel pump for pumping fuel to a fuel injection valve is disposed below the fuel tank and behind the cylinder head of the engine (for example, JP-A-2000-297711). reference).
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the conventional fuel pump arrangement structure as described above, since the fuel pump is housed in a space surrounded by the engine and the fuel tank, there is an advantage that it is possible to prevent other objects from contacting the fuel pump even when the motorcycle falls over. On the other hand, there is a drawback that the combustion pump is liable to cause a vapor lock inside due to the influence of the heat emitted from the cylinder head of the engine. Further, in order to dispose the fuel pump behind the cylinder head and directly below the fuel tank, it is necessary to remodel at least the bottom wall of the existing fuel tank, that is, to recreate a new fuel tank, and to increase the cost.
[0004]
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and prevents the occurrence of vapor lock by preventing the contact of other objects to the fuel pump as much as possible and improving the cooling performance of the fuel pump even when the motorcycle falls. An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel pump arrangement structure for a motorcycle that does not require modification of an existing fuel tank.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention includes an engine having a fuel injection valve in an intake system and a fuel tank disposed above the engine mounted on a vehicle body frame and extending from the front of the engine. In a motorcycle in which an exhaust pipe to be moved is bent toward the left and right sides of the engine and bent backward, the engine is configured in a V shape having a front bank and a rear bank, and is provided in an intermediate portion of the vehicle body frame. A protective stay that is attached to the engine hanger and that is supported by a front bank and a crankcase of the engine and covers the front of the engine is disposed on the front side of the engine that receives the traveling wind. A first feature is that a fuel pump for receiving fuel from the fuel tank and pumping fuel to the fuel injection valve is accommodated in a pump case fixed in a protection region. To.
[0006]
According to the first feature, when the traveling wind generated by the traveling of the motorcycle hits the front surface of the engine, the fuel pump disposed on the front side of the engine is effectively cooled, so that vapor lock is generated in the fuel pump. Can be prevented. In addition, since the fuel pump disposed on the front side of the engine does not protrude outward from the engine, contact with other objects can be avoided even when the motorcycle falls.
[0007]
In addition, the fuel pump is arranged on the front side of the engine, so there is no need to modify the fuel tank above the engine, and it is possible to suppress the cost increase as much as possible, and the engine hanger provided in the middle part of the vehicle body frame Although it is a motorcycle equipped with a hood, the protective stay and the pump case that are supported by the front bank of the engine and the crankcase so as to cover the front of the engine strongly prevent contact with other fuel pumps The durability can be increased.
[0008]
Furthermore, in addition to the first feature, the present invention has a second feature in that an under cowl that covers the lower surface of the engine is attached to the protective stay.
[0009]
According to the second feature, the protective stay that protects the fuel pump also serves as the stay for mounting the under cowl, and a stator dedicated to mounting the under cowl becomes unnecessary, which can contribute to simplification of the mounting structure of the under cowl.
[0010]
Furthermore, in addition to the first or second feature, the present invention is arranged such that the fuel pump is disposed below the root of the exhaust pipe and toward the other left and right sides opposite to the exhaust pipe. The third feature.
[0011]
According to the third feature, heat damage from the exhaust pipe to the fuel pump can be avoided as much as possible, and the occurrence of vapor lock in the fuel pump can be prevented.
[0012]
Furthermore, in addition to any one of the first to third features, the present invention is configured such that the protective stay is formed by connecting a vertical aggregate having a substantially L shape in a side view and a horizontal aggregate in a cross shape. The fourth feature is that one end of the vertical aggregate is attached to the front face of the front bank of the engine and the other end is attached to the side face of the crankcase.
[0013]
Furthermore, in addition to any of the first to fourth characteristics, the present invention has a fifth characteristic that the fuel pump is housed and held in a pump case elastically supported by the protective stay. .
[0014]
Furthermore, in addition to any one of the first to fifth features, the present invention comprises a pump case in which the fuel pump is accommodated by a pair of upper and lower case halves, and the pump case is separated, whereby the fuel pump The sixth feature is that the attachment and removal of can be performed.
[0015]
Furthermore, in addition to any of the first to sixth features, the present invention provides a seventh feature in which a protective cover is provided on the protective stay, and a ventilation hole is provided in the protective cover for allowing traveling air to pass through. And
[0016]

It is arranged at a position closer to the lower side than the base of 18f. The fuel pump 25 is housed and held in a pump case 32 that is elastically supported by a protective stay 26 fixed to the engine E.
[0026]
As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, the protective stay 26 is formed by connecting a longitudinal aggregate 27 and a lateral aggregate 28 made of steel pipes in a cross shape, and the longitudinal aggregate 27 is a front bone extending in the vertical direction. 27a and a lower bone 27b that bends and extends backward from the lower end of the anterior bone 27a, has a substantially L shape in side view, and the horizontal aggregate 28 extends from the lower end of the longitudinal bone 27a. A right bone 28a extending obliquely to the right and rear of the vehicle and a right bone 28b extending obliquely from the lower end of the longitudinal bone 27a to the left and rear of the vehicle, the rear end of the left bone 28b is Joined to the rear end of the bone 27b by welding. A first support bracket 30a is formed on the anterior bone 27a, and a second support bracket 30b is formed on the lower bone 27b. The pump case 32 is supported on the support brackets 30a and 30b via elastic members 31. And surrounded by a protective stay 26. That is, the protection stay 26 is accommodated in the protection area. The pump case 32 is formed by bolting the pair of upper and lower case halves 32a and 32b so as to be separable. By separating the case halves 32a and 32b, the fuel pump 25 can be attached to the pump case 32, It can be taken out. Further, a protective cover 33 that covers the front surface of the upper half of the pump case 32 is welded to the front bone 27a, and a plurality of ventilation holes 34, 34.
[0027]
Mounting brackets 35a, 35b, and 35c are formed at the ends of the anterior bone 27a, the lower bone 27b, and the right bone 28a, and the mounting bracket 35a of the anterior bone 27a is formed on the front surface of the anterior bank 7f. The mounting bracket 35 b is bolted to the side surface of the crankcase 20, and the mounting bracket 35 c of the right bone 38 a is bolted to the front surface of the crankcase 20 together with the starter motor 21. Thus, the fuel pump 25 housed in the pump case 32 is disposed on the front side of the engine E as described above.
[0028]
A plurality of (a pair of left and right in the illustrated example) cowl support brackets 36 a and 36 b are formed on the protective stay 26, and these cover a part of the side surface from the lower surface of the engine E together with the lower portion of the pump case 32. The under cowl 37 is bolted.
[0029]
Next, the operation of this embodiment will be described.
[0030]
During traveling of the motorcycle, when the traveling wind hits the front surface of the engine E and cools it, a part of the traveling wind passes through the ventilation holes 34, 34,... Of the protective cover 33 and hits the pump case 32. The internal fuel pump 25 can be effectively cooled through 32, and as a result, the occurrence of vapor lock in the fuel pump can be prevented. In addition, since the fuel pump 25 disposed on the front side of the engine E does not protrude outward from the engine E, contact with other objects can be avoided even when the motorcycle M falls. Since the fuel pump 25 is disposed on the front side of the engine E, the fuel tank 8 above the engine E does not need to be modified.
[0031]
In particular, since the fuel pump 25 is covered with a protective stay 26 and a protective cover 33 attached to the engine E, the protective stay 26 and the protective cover 33 reliably prevent contact with other objects and ensure its durability. can do.
[0032]
Further, a pump case 32 that accommodates the fuel pump 25 is located below the root of the front exhaust pipe 18f on the front side of the engine E and on the opposite side of the exhaust pipe 18f across the longitudinal center plane Y of the motorcycle M. Since they are arranged offset, it is possible to prevent heat damage from the front exhaust pipe 18f to the fuel pump 25 as much as possible and to ensure the durability thereof. Further, since the pump case 32 is offset from the longitudinal center plane Y of the motorcycle M to one side, even if the front wheel 4f is displaced to the engine E side due to a frontal collision of the motorcycle M, the pump case 32 is directed to the fuel pump 25. It is possible to avoid contact with the front wheel 4f and prevent the fuel pump 25 from being damaged.
[0033]
On the other hand, since the under cowl 37 is attached using the protective stay 26, it is not necessary to provide a dedicated stay for the under cowl, which can contribute to simplification of the attachment structure.
[0034]
The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various design changes can be made without departing from the scope of the gist thereof. For example, the present invention can be applied to a single cylinder or multi-cylinder engine having only an upright single bank.
