従来の縦形製袋充填包装方法は、包材の原反ロールから包材を繰り出してフォーマーに掛けて該フォーマーの内側に通された被包装物充填筒を略一巻きするように筒状に曲成して包材の両端縁を合掌状に重ねるか又は封筒貼り重ねてヒートシールして包装筒として被包装物充填筒の下方へ垂下していき被包装物を被包装物充填筒を通し落下充填するとともに包装筒に対して被包装物の下側の際と上側の際にボトムヒートシールとトップヒートシールを施すものである。

図1及び図2に示す縦形製袋充填包装装置について説明する。
包材の原反ロールRから繰り出される包材Fは、ガイドロール1に掛けられてから図示しないサーボモータにより増減速駆動される包材繰り出しロール2と回転自在なニップロール3により牽引され走行されるように通され、次いで、段差ロール4に掛けられてからガイドロール5,6に掛けられる。
段差ロール4は、下流側からの包材Fの引き出しに対して繰り出し抵抗を軽くて一定に保つ役目をする。包材繰り出しロール2は、段差ロール4が下限位置に下がるとフィルムの繰り出し量を少なくし、又、上限位置に上がるとフィルムの繰り出し量を多くする。

なお、切り離される縦ピロー包装体Pは、上下反転されてヒダhが下端に付いた状態となるので、トップヒートシールとボトムヒートシールは、包装体について考えると、通常の縦形製袋充填包装方法の場合とは逆転することになる。

以上説明してきたように、本願発明のヒダ付き縦ピロー包装体の製造方法は、縦形製袋充填包装方法において、包材が平面のときに内面同士を合掌状に接着して倒したヒダを形成して該ヒダで底面部を隠す自立性角底袋を作る構成であるので、ヒダに皺が発生する惧れがなく外観が綺麗なヒダが得られ、特にヒダとしての独立した外観を呈さず周面部と一平面を形成してタイトな包装形態を感じさせ、包装形態として美観に優れており、ヒダ部分の完全密封が確保され液体容器としても適する形態のヒダ付き縦ピロー包装体を連続的に量産することができる。又、本願発明のヒダ付き縦ピロー包装体の製造方法によれば、ヒダを形成するに際して包材の下流側を引っ張らないので、ヒダとヒダとの間隔寸法が正確になり、ヒダ付き縦ピロー包装体の製造方法を実施した場合に、包装体が均一な大きさになる。
