Description
比較例として、高保磁力面内磁化層を備えない磁気記録媒体を作製した。また、比較例の磁気記録媒体では、再生出力を実施例の磁気記録媒体と同等にするために、記録層のCo層とPd層の交互に積層する膜数をそれぞれ16とした。これらの変更点以外は実施例と同様にして磁気記録媒体を作製した。
実施例及び比較例で作製した磁気記録媒体を、単磁極型書き込み素子及びGMR読み出し素子を供えた複合ヘッドと、スピンスタンドと、磁気記録媒体を複合ヘッドに対して駆動するための駆動装置とを備えた磁気記録装置(不図示)にそれぞれ装着し、各記録再生特性を測定して比較した。ただし、単磁極書き込み素子の主磁極幅は72nm、GMR読み出し素子の幅は54nm、そして、シールドギャップは40nmとした。また、単磁極読み出し素子表面から磁気記録媒体の記録層と保護層との界面までの距離(磁気的スペーシング)を10nmとし、磁気記録媒体の複合ヘッドに対する相対速度を9.7m/secとした。

Claims (3)
- 磁気記録媒体であって、
基板と、
該基板上に形成され且つ軟磁性材料で形成された裏打ち層と、
該裏打ち層上に形成され且つ面内磁化を有する面内磁化層と、
該裏打ち層と該面内磁化層との間に積層され、該面内磁化層の結晶配向性を制御して該面内磁化層の磁気異方性を面内方向に向ける機能を有する結晶制御層と、
該面内磁化層上に形成され且つ垂直磁化を有する記録層とを備え、
該面内磁化層の面内方向の保磁力が、記録層の垂直方向の残留磁化により発生する磁界より大きいことを特徴とする磁気記録媒体。 - 上記記録層の垂直方向の残留磁化をMr1、膜厚をT1とし、上記面内磁化層の面内方向の残留磁化をMr2、膜厚をT2とするとき、Mr1T1>2Mr2T2の関係が成立することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の磁気記録媒体。
- 請求項1に記載の磁気記録媒体と、該磁気記録媒体に情報を記録または再生するための磁気ヘッドと、該磁気記録媒体を該磁気ヘッドに対して駆動するための駆動装置とを備えた磁気記録装置。
