【技術分野と発明の背景】
本発明は、接合部の溶接方法および装置、たとえば波長が赤外線帯域またはその近辺に当るエネルギー線束を用いる、接合部の溶接方法および装置、特に熱可塑性プラスチック接合用の溶接方法および装置に関する。短波長の放射線は0.7から2.0μmのものを用いることができる。可塑化操作中、二つの接合域または接合面は一致させて保持するか、または接触保持される。この方式にせよ別方式にせよ、まず一つの接合域を他の接合域を可塑化するに先立ち可塑化させておく。これにより第二の接合域は可塑化された第一接合域で湿潤化され、この結果同様に熱伝導の操作により可塑化される。

突合せ溶接の場合、両方の接合域は相互にただし同時に別々に可塑化され、次いで可塑化状態で相互に圧力を加えて、溶接される。接触圧のため可塑化された材料が、接合部から脱落して通常好ましくないビードを形成することがある。加熱効果は動揺により、つまり接合面での摩擦によりまたは両接合面の摩擦により発揮されることがある。この結果妨害作用を引き起こし、多くの生成物から除去困難な摩耗粒子を発生させる。これと対照的に透過ビーム溶接の場合、一致した接合面に対しては、例えば露出した横断部および被覆された横断部の接合域上の接合面を介して、溶接エネルギーが加えられ、この結果、接合面に接する接合域は横断部の一部層またはフラックス層として可塑化される。従って以後フラックス、相互横移動または接触圧により、可塑化材料体で別の接合面を濡らし、その接合域が可塑化され溶接が完了される。この溶接が接合部またはシームに沿って逐次行われる場合、シーム部分は完全に溶接が完了済みで、一方他の部分は依然可塑性を示すか,または可塑化の必要性が要求される。これにより接合面の均一な接触圧はシームに似た多くの部分で望むことが難しく、融解による接合面の均一化も困難となる。しかし融解によりそれぞれの接合面の形状および位置設定の許容差を均等化させることができる。

完全な接合域を同時にエネルギーを使ってビーム操作することも考えられる。例えばダイオードレーザーまたはビーム焦点を使って行うことができる。特に溶接線が直線を示さない場合、このために複雑な装置が必要とされる。これは別として、ビーム出力は形状の様々な工作物には適合されない。

【発明の目的】
本発明の目的の一つは、既知の配列または上記タイプの欠陥を防ぐことができる溶接方法及び装置の提供にある。本発明の別の目的は、シーム長全体に亘ってほとんど同時に可塑化された二つの接合面のそれぞれを保持するか、軟質化し得ることにある。事実この状態のもとでは、接合すべき二組の横断部または構成部品は、事前設定された方向に相互に位置決めされるべきで、最終的には堅固な溶接部により接合されていなければならない。さらに本発明の別の目的は、高負荷または高圧のもとでシールされ、均等な張力を示すシーム部分を保持させることにある。つまり、シーム部分に触れるか、またはシーム部分と空間的に並置された横断部の部分と同一張力を目指すことにある。本発明のさらに別の目的はシームの形態には関係なく、エネルギー消費の極めて少ない接合部を得ることにある。

【発明の概要】
本発明によれば、接合面の一つまたは二つを、初期温度と作業温度の中間にあり、かつ作業温度または溶融温度よりわずかに低めの中間温度に、全面的に予熱する。ここで遅くとも、接合面を相互に接触させ、全体を予熱した接合面を最終溶融温度にまで加熱する。融成物つまり溶融体を使って、シームの全長に亘って同時に他の接合面を溶融温度まで加熱する。この操作により二つの接合域の溶融体は均一に混じり合い、冷却により固形化して堅固な溶接部を構成する。これにより別のシーム部域全ての両接合域が溶融温度に達し、言い換えれば一体溶融に達する前に、溶融体の任意のシーム域内での固形化は防がれる。シーム域は全てほとんど同時に溶融するか、または残留の全てのシーム域が依然充分に軟質で、構成部品は相互に移動することができ、このため軟質化材料は破壊するか除去することができる。シームの溶融体は、シームの全長および全幅に亘って同時にまたはほとんど同時に固形化し、この結果、歪みの発生は抑えられる。

予熱は種々の方式で行うことができる。引き続き第一の中間温度から次の高めの中間温度に高めることができる。このためにビーム焦点またはビーム域を接合域に沿って極めて迅速に移動させ、ビーム域による継続二加熱間での接合域部分は、先行加熱の最後の初期温度または最低温度まで冷却することはできない。例えば加熱は一回につき1,2,または3秒、10回以上行ってよく、これにより1から12の間の全回数が可能と思われる。このように接合域の増的または逐次加熱が考えられるが、一方では接合面の相互接触が要請される。一つの接合面が軟質化するか、またはシームの全長に亘って同時に可塑化されると、関連の部品は別の部品に対する希望の度合いに応じて接触圧力を使って移動させることができる。この操作により構成部品の寸法許容差または接合面の表面形状許容差を均等化させることができる。この移動は構成部品そのものに取付けたラッチにより制限するか、または加圧/把持装置のラッチを使って制限する。このようにラッチを使うことにより構成部品の取付具は接合部の製作時点で一体保持または圧される。

予熱および/または溶融操作時には、エネルギービーム線が一つの接合面を透過し、このビームはその物理性状により加熱に関与しないか、または極わずか関与するに過ぎない。このビームは直接並置された接合面に打ち当たり、この接合面はその物理性状から放射線を吸収し、それが溶融相に達するまで暖め直され、この溶融相を使って可塑化を示すまで第一接合面は加熱される。この結果予熱操作を含めて15,10,5秒以内でかなり長めの溶接が可能である。この溶接方法は、特にプラスチック用として、または容器部品の接合に利用される周縁連続シーム用として好適である。この方法は同じく別目的、例えば非破壊的に分離を必要とする接合面の補助的事前処理向けとして適合している。

この方法は既知の装置と併用することが可能である。例えば書き込みまたはエネルギービーム用としてビーム出力を備えた走査ヘッドとも併用が可能であり、これによればビームはヘッドを固定したまま、異なる方向に対してでも連続的に偏向させることができる。しかし、ビーム出力はまたロボットの腕に取付けて、あらゆる三次元方向に対してこの腕を関節で繋いで移動させ、シーム部分から一定の間隔を保ち保持されたビーム出力を使ってシームに沿って移動させることも可能である。本発明によれば、溶接装置に制御装置を取付け、この制御装置を使ってビーム域を接合域またはシームの各部分に亘って多様に誘導し、特にその時間間隔は最大限1から6または4秒に操作させる。ビーム出力は鏡または集束レンズを使って形成させる。ビームの操縦には二つの鏡を並置させて使い、その各鏡は他方のものとは独立に別途軸の廻りを旋回し得るようにさせる。この結果ビームは相互に直交する二組の立体軸内で同時に移動させることができる。集束オプチックまたはz−軸モジュールを使うことにより、ビーム域には第三立体軸内で出力を供給し、一方その範囲は一定に保持している。この結果、ビーム出力と接合域間に見られる距離の変動は相殺される。

図1の(A)は基板4を備えた走査ヘッド2および走査すべき工作物を固定保持する保持装置3を取付けた装置1をす。取付具としての保持装置3の固定基板5は基板4に固定連結する。操作ヘッド2,保持装置3のそれぞれは相互に独立して基礎フレームに互換式に取り付ける。

誘導装置8によりビーム10は第一横断部39を通じて全般的に誘導され、第二接合面42上でのビーム域35の大きさは絶えず一定に保たれる。なお誘導装置8によりビーム10は同時に偏向を受け、ビーム域35はシームの全長に沿って連続的に第二接合面42を高速度で一方向に流れる。この結果第二接合面42周縁を室温つまり第一初期温度、即ち第一の中間温度から次の比較的高い第二の中間温度まで、第二横断部40の温度は連続的に高まり、一方接合域内の第一横断部39は当初加熱されないか、せいぜい多くて加熱の度合いは一層低い。ビーム域35が図3に示すようにシーム部分に逐次当たる二つのパス間では、第二接合面42は名ばかりだけの冷却を示すか、または全く冷却を示さない。

5パス以上または10パスのもとでは、第二接合面42の温度は溶融温度にまで高まっており、溶融体つまりフラックス層は第一接合面41に接触する所までシーム幅全体に広がっている。これにより第二接合面42の熱は第一接合面41を介して第一横断部39に向かう結果となる。このように第一接合面41は同じくシームの全長に亘って同時に溶融温度に達し、第一接合面41にはフラックス層が一層補給される。これに先立ち、または同時に締結力により構成部品37,38は相互に移動し、非可塑化された対応面43,対向面44は相互に回転位置を占める。ここで制御装置30によりアクチュエータ20を調節することにより、さらなる位置決めのための移動をしないようにする。溶接溶融体は第一接合面41,第二接合面42間の間隙から“滲み出る”ことはない。これに代わり、溶融体をこの間隙に注入して端部47にシームビードが形成されないようにする。当初では対応面43,対向面44間の間隙長は第一接合面41,第二接合面42間の平均間隙幅に見合っている。この間隙幅は1mm以下または0.5mm以下である。リムとしての第一横断部39で容器シとしての第二横断部40の外周を取り巻き、容器の外側から透過ビーム溶接が行えるようにする。間隙が充填し終わると、溶融体は冷えシームは堅固となり完全なシールが行われる。この後工作物36を緩め把持取付具17から取り外す。

図2から明らかなように、第二接合面42は方向45,46に平行な方向を示し、第一接合面41はこれに対して角度をなしている。

図3は第一接合面41が逆向きに締結方向45,46に平行となり、第二接合面42がこれに対して2°または3°以下の角度をなすかを表わしている。対応面43は壁面としての第一横断部39の環状端面を示し、図2に示すような嵌め込み面を示していない。対向面44は第二接合面42の自由端に対して引っ込めて据付けした肩面を表わし、従って対応面43,対向面44間の間隙は工作物の外側に露呈されている。対応面43,対向面44間からの溶融体のはみ出しは見受けられない。それは溶融体がこの間隙に入り込まないためである。

図4は環状ウェブとしての第二横断部40を示す。この環状ウェブは、構成部品38い方のを超えて横断方向に自由に突出したものであり、従ってそれぞれのフランクはこの壁の肩面に隣接している。この肩面が対応面43,対向面44を形成している。両ウェブフランクは構成部品37の第一接合面41で溶接されるはずの第二接合面42と見ることができる。この第一接合面41は第一横断部39中の溝フランクにより形成されている。この溝フランクは鋭角をなして溝底に集中している。この溝底およびウェブとしての第二横断部40の縦縁も接触面を構成している。第二横断部40の厚みは充分薄いため、溶融体が溝を完全に満たし、両ウェブフランクを二つの溝フランクに溶接する。

図5は容器壁としての第二横断部40を示し、その外面は第二接合面42を表わしている。第一横断部39はウェブまたはスリーブであり、その長さ方向の端面は第一接合面41を表わしている。ウェブとしての第一横断部39はニップルとしての構成部品37の自由に突起したリムを示し、その溝ダクトは容器壁の開口部に連結すべきため、シームはこの開口を密封式に取り巻く形を示す。ここではビーム30をリムとしての第一横断部39を介してその軸に平行に、つまり同様にリムとしての第一横断部39に隣接するニップルとしての構成部品37の端壁を介して向ける。この端壁は第二接合面42から離隔している。構成部品37,38を第一接合面41,第二接合面42に直角方向または横断方向に方向45,46に相互に緊締する。同時に可塑化を行い、構成部品37,38を方向45,46に相互に近付け、最終的に制御装置30,データ入力用装置24を使ってこの移動状態をコントロールする。

図6は二つの部材つまりチューブとしての構成部品38が、いかに相互に縦方向または同軸方向に位置付けされ、構成部品37と接合するかを示している。チューブとしての構成部品38は可塑化に先立ち反対方向からスリーブとしての構成部品37中に差し込み、その端部としての対向面44を使って相互に離れた対応面43と接触させる。対応面43は構成部品37の内周から突起するカラーを使って形成させる。第一接合面41,第二接合面42は対応面44から離しておく。チューブとしての構成部品38は溶接時には、相互に第一接合面41,第二接合面42にそれぞれ平行には前進移動させない。その代わりとして、溶融体は第二接合面42から第一接合面41に向け、張力なしに流すことができる。しかし第一接合面41,第二接合面42は相互に、例えば第二横断部40に対して半径方向に第一横断部39に応力を加えて、横方向に移動させることができる。

単一ビーム10の代わりに数本のビーム10を同時に用いて、ビーム域35をシームの全長に亘って分布させることができる。このビーム域を空間に満たし、同一または異なる速度でシームに沿い走査させる。これにより溶接エネルギーはさらに迅速に第一横断部39,第二横断部40に供給でき、ビーム域35で加熱された第二接合面42の各部分は次のパスで再加熱されるまで、冷却はむしろ少なく押さえられる。

以上に説明した特徴と効果は前述の通りであってもよいが、前述のものに似たものでもよく、特殊の要請によっては上記から大きく変動し得ることも了解されるであろう。

Claims (2)

  1. 接合部をレーザー溶接する方法であって、接合部が第一接合面と第二接合面との間に接合域を画成し、第一接合面および第二接合面が、初期温度を有し、第一横断部および第二横断部の境界を成し、第一横断部と第二横断部が複数の異なる物理的特性を有する複数の溶接可能な材料で構成され、第一横断部の材料がレーザービームに対してほぼ透過なものであり、第二横断部の材料がレーザービームを吸収し、接合域が複数の接合域部分を有する方法において、
    第一横断部と第一接合面を通して第二接合面にレーザービームを向け、第二接合面にレーザービームを打ち当て、接合域よりも狭小なビーム域の中で第二接合面を加熱する工程と、
    ビーム域を接合域にわたって繰り返し走査動作で移動させ、その際、走査動作の各々において、溶接温度にするのに必要な全加熱エネルギーの一部のみが各接合域部分に伝えられる工程と、
    走査動作の少なくとも一部において、第一接合面と第二接合面を互いに圧する工程とを含み、
    ビーム域を繰り返し走査動作することにより、第二横断部と第二接合面を漸増的に加熱して可塑化し、その第二横断部から第一横断部へ伝達された熱により、第一横断部と第一接合面を間接的に加熱し、
    接合域の全体にわたってほぼ一斉に、第一横断部と第二横断部において、温度が、初期温度から溶接温度まで上昇する、方法。
  2. 工作物を溶接するための装置であって、工作物が、第一接合面と第二接合面との間で接合域を画成する接合部を有し、第一接合面および第二接合面が第一横断部および第二横断部の境界を成し、接合域が複数の接合域部分を有し、第一横断部と第二横断部が複数の異なる物理的特性を有する複数の溶接可能な材料で構成され、第一横断部の材料がレーザービームに対してほぼ透過なものであり、第二横断部の材料がレーザービームを吸収してレーザービームにより加熱されるものである装置において、
    レーザービームを生成する装置と、
    レーザービームを誘導する誘導装置を備え、誘導装置はビーム出力を有し、第一横断部を経て第二接合面上にレーザービームを通し、ビームのビーム域を第二接合面上に投射し、
    さらに、第二接合面に沿ってビーム域を送る送り装置と、
    送り装置を制御する制御装置を備え、制御装置が繰り返し及び継続してビーム域を複数の接合域部分の各々に誘導し、他方、レーザービームが第一横断部を透過し、
    また、工作物を保持し、かつ、レーザービームで加熱する間に、第一接合面および第二接合面を有する第一横断部及び第二横断部を圧する把持取付具を備えている、装置。
