Description
【0001】

[0007]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a fan failure diagnosis device that can detect an abnormality in the operation of an engine cooling fan.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The vehicle fan failure diagnosis apparatus according to
[0009]
By adopting such a configuration, the driving means drives the engine cooling fan motor by the drive command signal. The cooling air generated by driving the engine cooling fan motor hits the control unit disposed in the engine room and radiates the control unit. The temperature of the control unit at this time is detected by the temperature detecting means.
[0010]
Then, the determination means detects an abnormality in the operation of the engine cooling fan based on a change in the temperature of the control unit by the temperature detection means when the engine cooling fan motor drive command signal is output. That is, when the fan itself fails, cooling air is not generated or the cooling air is weak and the control unit is not cooled or is not easily cooled, and the temperature of the control unit does not decrease or hardly decreases. In this way, it is determined whether the fan itself actually operates based on the change in temperature of the control unit.
Further, the determination means detects an abnormality in the operation of the engine cooling fan based on the change in the temperature of the engine cooling water and the change in the temperature of the control unit by the temperature detection means. Based on the change in the temperature of the control unit by the temperature detecting means, the abnormality determination can be performed more highly.
[0011]
In this way, an abnormality in the operation of the engine cooling fan can be detected.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, the determination means controls the temperature of the control unit when starting to send the drive command signal and the control when a predetermined time has elapsed after starting sending the drive command signal. When the temperature difference from the unit temperature is smaller than a predetermined value, it is practically preferable to determine that the operation of the engine cooling fan is abnormal.
[0013]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, forcible drive means may be provided for sending a drive command signal to the drive means when the temperature of the control unit by the temperature detection means exceeds a predetermined temperature. If it does in this way, it will be able to cope with overheating of a control unit. That is, when the control unit is overheated, the control unit can be protected from overheating by sending a drive command signal to forcibly operate the fan and cooling the control unit.

Further, when there is an abnormality, both the lamp lighting and the abnormality detection flag are set, but only one of them may be performed.
[0043]
Further, although the ECU 7 is arranged in the middle of the cooling air passage shown in FIG. 2, the ECU 7 may be simply arranged on the downstream side of the fan 4 without providing a cooling air passage dedicated to the ECU. Any part may be used as long as it is radiated by the cooling air generated by the ECU 7 to dissipate heat.
