る。例えば、検出角度5度で試料の表面から約9オングストローム、検出角度45度で資料の表面から約70オングストロームの元素組成を知ることができる。プラズマ処理した有機発光層をXPS分析して、検出された全元素量を100%として各々の元素の組成比(%)を求める。検出角度1〜10度におけるフッ素元素の組成比が検出角度45〜90度におけるフッ素元素の組成比よりも大きければ、カソード電極側の表面を構成する分子中の炭素−フッ素結合含有率(組成比)が、アノード電極界面近傍または膜内部を構成する分子中の炭素−フッ素結合含有率(組成比)よりも大きいといえる。
の画素の有機発光層だけをフッ素化することで、フッ素化されていない画素との発光特性のバランスをとることが可能である。また、フッ素化処理の効果が発光色によって異なる場合、フッ素化処理を発光色ごとに行うことで、フッ素化処理による発光特性の最適化を行うことができる。
(実施例1)
図2の断面図に示すような、基板1上にアノード電極3、正孔輸送層7、青のポリマー有機発光層10及びカソード電極11を積層した、単色で1mmX5mm四方の形状の有機EL発光表示装置を作製した例について説明する。
(比較例1)
ポリマー有機発光層に対してフッ素化処理を行わなかった以外は、実施例1と同様な材料、方法を用いて、比較例1の有機EL表示装置を作製した。
60分を要した。一方、フッ素化処理していない比較例1の有機EL発光表示装置の輝度は約30秒で半減し、有機EL発光表示装置としての特性は不充分であることがわかった。これは、実施例1ではポリマー有機発光層に対してフッ素化処理を行っていることから、ポリマー有機発光層10の反応性が低下し、カソード電極11との反応が生じ難く劣化を防ぐことができるのに対し、比較例1ではポリマー有機発光層10とカソード電極11とが反応して、ポリマー有機発光層10が劣化しているためである。

Claims (6)
- アノード電極と、前記アノード電極上に形成された有機発光層と、前記有機発光層上に形成されたカソード電極とを有する有機EL発光表示装置の製造方法であって、前記有機発光層の前記カソード電極側の表面をフッ素化処理した後に、前記フッ素化処理された表面直上にLi、Na、K、Rb、Cs、Mg、Ca、Sr、Baからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含むカソード電極を形成することを特徴とする有機EL発光表示装置の製造方法。
- アノード電極と、前記アノード電極上に形成された有機発光層と、前記有機発光層上に形成され有機材料からなる電子注入輸送層と、前記電子注入輸送層上に形成されたカソード電極とを有する有機EL発光表示装置の製造方法であって、前記電子注入輸送層の前記カソード電極側の表面をフッ素化処理した後に、前記フッ素化処理された表面直上にLi、Na、K、Rb、Cs、Mg、Ca、Sr、Baからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含むカソード電極を形成することを特徴とする有機EL発光表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記フッ素化処理が、フロロカーボンガスのプラズマの照射であることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の有機EL発光表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記フロロカーボンガスがCF4、NF3、SF6、及びC2F6からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種であることを特徴とする請求項3記載の有機EL発光表示装置の製造方法。
- アノード電極と、前記アノード電極上に形成された有機発光層と、前記有機発光層の直上に形成されたカソード電極とを有し、前記カソード電極は、Li、Na、K、Rb、Cs、Mg、Ca、Sr、Baからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含み、前記有機発光層の内部と前記カソード電極側の界面とを比較して、炭素−フッ素結合を持つ分子が前記カソード電極側の界面により多く存在することを特徴とする有機EL発光表示装置。
- アノード電極と、前記アノード電極上に形成された有機発光層と、前記有機発光層上に形成され有機材料からなる電子注入輸送層と、前記電子注入輸送層の直上に形成されたカソード電極とを有し、前記カソード電極は、Li、Na、K、Rb、Cs、Mg、Ca、Sr、Baからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含み、前記電子注入輸送層の内部と前記カソード電極側の界面とを比較して、炭素−フッ素結合を持つ分子が前記カソード電極側の界面により多く存在することを特徴とする有機EL発光表示装置。
