【発明が解決しようとする課題】
保護カバーをギヤカバーに装着する際には保護カバーの後端を広げる必要があるが、後端が真っ直ぐなため広げにくく保護カバーを変形させるのに大きい力を必要とし、組立性が悪いという欠点があった。

また本出願人が先に出願した特願2000−301411号において、後述する本発明保護カバーとほぼ同じ形状でハウジング及びギヤカバーを覆う保護カバーを装着し、ギヤカバーを握り易くすると共に保護カバーとハウジング及びギヤカバーとの間に冷却風が通るスペースを設けたセーバソーを提案した。この保護カバーは、プラスチック等の変形しにくい材料からなり、2部材で構成されネジで止めるものであった。このためネジ用のボスが必要となりボス部分が大きくなると共に構成部品が多く結果として高価なセーバソーとなるという欠点があった。

本発明の目的は、上記した従来技術の欠点をなくし、保護カバーの組立性を向上すると共に保護カバーが抜けづらくした電動工具を提供することである。

上記目的は、弾性材からなる保護カバーの後端から頂点が風窓近傍まで延びるほぼV字状の切り欠きを設けると共に保護カバーによって覆われるハウジングに後方に行くに従って小径となる傾斜部を設けることにより達成される。

本発明電動工具をセーバソーとした一実施形態を図1、図2に示す。
