本発明は、ルーフが開閉自在のオープンカーのヘッダー部に取付けられたウェザーストリップに関する。

図3及び図4に示すように、ルーフRが開閉自在のオープンカーのヘッダー部1には、ルーフRの閉時にその先端部に弾接するウェザーストリップ10が取付けられている。ウェザーストリップ10は、ヘッダー部1の中央に位置する押出成形部10aと左右両側端部に位置する型成形部10bからなり、その押出断面及び型成形断面として図5及び図6に示すようなものがある。

押出成形部10aは、ヘッダー部1に形成されたフランジFに嵌着された断面略U字状の取付基部11と、その頂部に一体成形されたリヤ側中空シール部12と、取付基部11の前面下部から前側に延びる腕部13と、腕部13の先端に一体成形されたフロント側中空シール部14とから主に構成され、ルーフRの閉時にはリヤ側中空シール部12とフロント側中空シール部14がルーフRに弾接するようになっている。
そして、フロント側中空シール部14と取付基部12との間に形成された溝部15を介して溜った雨水や洗車水等を左右両側端部の型成形部10bに導き、型成形部10bに形成された流路16を通じ、フロントピラーFPに沿って取付けられたウェザーストリップの中空部から車外へ排水するようになっている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
図6に示すように、屋根部17の上面が平坦であるとワイパー使用時にウインドウウォッシャー液Wを排出すると、左右両側面に流れたウインドウウォッシャー液Wがリップ18を越え、さらに屋根部17の上面から室内側に侵入するという問題がある。

そこで本発明の目的は、簡易な方法でウインドウウォッシャー液の室内側への侵入を防止するオープンカー用ウェザーストリップを提供することにある。

上記の目的を達成するために、本発明のオープンカー用ウェザーストリップは、オープンカーのヘッダー部(1)に取付けられ、開閉自在のルーフ(R)の閉時にその先端部に弾接するもので、前記ヘッダー部(1)の中央に位置する押出成形部(10a)の両端には、前記ヘッダー部(1)の左右両側端部に位置する型成形部(10b)が形成され、しかも型成形部(10b)には前記押出成形部(10a)に形成された溝部(15)から導かれた水を車外へ排水する流路(16)とその流路(16)を覆う上面が平坦な屋根部(17)が形成されてなるオープンカー用ウェザーストリップ(10)であって、
屋根部(17)の上面に、左右方向に延びる堰(20)を設けて前記屋根部(17)に導かれた水又はウインドウウォッシャー液(W)を前記堰(20)に沿って車外へ流すようにしたことを特徴とする。

本発明によれば、型成形部に形成された流路を覆う屋根部の上面に、左右方向に延びる堰を設けるだけの簡易な方法によって屋根部に導かれた水又はウインドウウォッシャー液を堰に沿って車外へ流すようにしたので、水又はウインドウウォッシャー液が室内側へ侵入して室内を汚したり、不愉快な思いをすることはない。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施の形態について図面を参照して説明する。なお、従来例と同一の部分には同一符号を付した。図1は、本発明の実施の形態に係るオープンカー用ウェザーストリップの要部を示したものであり、図2はそのC−C断面を示したものである。

本発明の実施の形態に係るウェザーストリップ10は、従来例と同様に、図3で示したようなオープンカーのヘッダー部1に取付けられたもので、開閉自在のルーフRの閉時にその先端部に弾接するようになっている。ウェザーストリップ10は、押出成形部10aの両端に型成形部10bが接続されてなり、押出成形部10aはヘッダー部1の中央に、そして両端の型成形部10bはヘッダー部1の左右両側端部にそれぞれ位置している。

押出成形部10aの構造は、従来例で示したものと同一である(図5)。また、型成形部10bの構造は、図2に示すように、押出成形部10aのフロント側中空シール部14と取付基部12との間に形成された溝部15から導かれた水を車外へ排水する流路16と、その流路16を覆う上面が平坦な屋根部17が形成されると共に、さらに屋根部17の上面には堰20が設けられている。

この堰20は屋根部17の上面から突出するように設けられた断面が略直角三角形状でその外観は三角錐状をしている。そして、堰20はヘッダー部1の略左右方向に延びている。
これによりリップ18を越えて屋根部17に導かれた水又はウインドウウォッシャー液Wを堰20に沿って車外へ流すようにしている。したがって、水又はウインドウウォッシャー液が室内側へ侵入することが防止される。堰20の前側の底辺部20aは側端に向かうにしたがって後側に傾斜するように設けられ、水又はウインドウウォッシャー液を底辺部20aに沿って側端から車外へ確実に排出するようにしてある。
堰20の形状は特に限定されるものではなく屋根部17に導かれた水又はウインドウウォッシャー液Wが室内に侵入することを防止することができるものであればよい。

以上のとおり本発明によれば、型成形部に形成された流路を覆う屋根部の上面に、左右方向に延びる堰を設けるだけの簡易な方法によって屋根部に導かれた水又はウインドウウォッシャー液を堰に沿って車外へ流すようにしたので、水又はウインドウウォッシャー液が室内側へ侵入して室内を汚したり、不愉快な思いをすることはない。
