The above (1) is being solved by thoroughly instructing the
[0004]
As this static electricity removal method, a static electricity removal method using an ionized air blower is generally performed. However, even with this removal method, it is difficult to completely remove static electricity, which causes the problem (2).
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
This ionized air blower removal method has the following problems.
(1) Since static electricity charged on the glass surface of the liquid crystal display device is removed, static electricity cannot be removed up to the TFT inside the liquid crystal display device in a short time.
{Circle around (2)} As an air blower structure, when used for a long period of time, ion balance is lost and stability is lowered. Maintenance is always required.
{Circle around (3)} Since the structure is such that ions are sent by air, the effect of removing static electricity is extremely reduced as the distance increases. In addition, there may be cases where it cannot be installed nearby due to the production process.
(4) The production process requires large or large quantities of ionized air blower equipment, and requires a large amount of capital investment.
[0006]
The present invention has been made to solve the problems as indicated above, there is provided a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device to static electricity short time ensure removal can Ru liquid crystal display device .
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention comprises an active matrix substrate (10) having a thin film transistor, a source wiring and a number of source terminals (20) , a gate wiring and a number of gate terminals (21) formed on a first insulating substrate,
A counter substrate (3) having a counter electrode (5) formed on a second insulating substrate,
A liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between the active matrix substrate (10) and the counter substrate (3) ,
The counter electrode (5) is electrically connected to the active matrix substrate (10) via a conductive paste (17) interposed between the active matrix substrate (10) and the counter substrate (3). A common transition electrode portion (12) connected to
On the active matrix substrate (10) , there is a contact electrode (11) connected to the common transition electrode portion (12) and extending to the end of the active matrix substrate (10) outside the display region. A manufacturing method of a liquid crystal display device provided ,
At the beginning of each step, a contact electrode (11) connected to the common transition electrode portion (12) provided on the active matrix substrate (10), a number of source terminals (20), and a number of gate terminals ( 21) simultaneously with a conductive rubber (30) having a surface resistance of 10 5 to 10 10 Ω to remove static electricity,
Then, each process is manufactured,
At the end of each step, the conductive rubber (30) is simultaneously applied to the contact electrode (11) connected to the common transition electrode portion, a large number of source terminals (20), and a large number of gate terminals (21). The liquid crystal display device manufacturing method is characterized in that the process proceeds to the next step after contact is made to remove static electricity.
[0012]
The operation of the above configuration will be described. An electrode for contacting electrically conductive rubber (30) for removing static electricity (11), a number of the source terminal (20) and the plurality of gate terminals (21), by contacting the same time, the active matrix substrate Static electricity charged in the liquid crystal display device can be removed from both the thin film transistor and the counter electrode of the counter substrate.
Further, the contact electrode, so is extended to the end portion of the active matrix substrate, a conductive rubber (30) can be easily contacted simultaneously as described above, easily performed that the static electricity removal operation Can do.
Since the conductive rubber (30) has a surface resistance of 10 5 to 10 10 Ω, a rapid discharge current can be suppressed. Therefore, as will be described later, the inside of the liquid crystal display device, the TFT, and the like are not electrostatically damaged by the electrostatic discharge current.
[0013]
Before starting the production of each process , the conductive rubber (30) is simultaneously brought into contact with the contact electrode (11), the numerous source terminals (20), and the numerous gate terminals (21) to provide a liquid crystal display device. Since the static electricity can be removed, the manufacturing process of the liquid crystal display device can be advanced without causing a characteristic defect. Further, since static electricity of the liquid crystal display device is similarly removed at the end of each step, the liquid crystal display device in a state where static electricity is not charged can be transported to the next step. In this way, static electricity is removed by a simple method in which the conductive rubber (30) is simultaneously brought into contact with the contact electrode (11), the numerous source terminals (20), and the numerous gate terminals (21). Therefore, the yield rate of the liquid crystal display device can be improved.

Next, a method for removing static electricity using the contact electrode will be described. As a panel inspection probe for a liquid crystal display device, a pin contact type is generally used. Various inspections are performed by bringing a panel inspection probe into contact with the source and gate terminals of the panel. When the panel inspection probe is connected to the terminal, if charges remain in the liquid crystal display device, there is a possibility of electrostatic breakdown in the TFT or the like. Therefore, it is necessary to remove static electricity from the liquid crystal display device before contacting the panel inspection probe.
[0025]
Further, after the panel inspection is completed, it is necessary to release static electricity from the contact electrode after the panel inspection probe is pulled up from each terminal of the source or the gate so that no electric charge remains in each terminal of the liquid crystal display device.
[0026]
The static electricity removing method will be described using an equivalent circuit as shown in FIG. When the liquid crystal in which charges are accumulated by electrostatic induction is applied from the

As a result, the contact electrode initially had a charge of 440 nC (nanocoulomb). However, when static electricity was released from the contact electrode to the ground, the source terminal and the gate terminal had a charge of 8 nC or less. Therefore, it was confirmed that static electricity was discharged from the contact electrode.
[0033]
Static electricity charged in the liquid crystal display device can also be removed from the contact electrode through the common transition electrode portion and the counter electrode.
[0034]
Moreover, since conductive rubber is attached to the tip of the counter electrode probe, rapid discharge current can be suppressed by its resistance. Therefore, electrostatic discharge current does not cause electrostatic breakdown of the inside of the liquid crystal display device, the TFT, or the like.

As shown in Table 3, static electricity in the liquid crystal display device can be removed by grounding the contact electrode, one source terminal or one gate terminal at the same time. It was confirmed that destruction occurred and a characteristic defect occurred.
[0045]
Thus, by grounding the contact electrode, a large number of source terminals, and a large number of gate terminals at the same time, static electricity in the panel is eliminated, and a characteristic failure of the liquid crystal display device does not occur.
[0046]
Moreover, a rapid discharge current can be suppressed by the resistance of the conductive rubber. Therefore, electrostatic discharge current does not cause electrostatic breakdown of the inside of the liquid crystal display device, the TFT, or the like.

According to the manufacturing method of the present invention, the static electricity of the liquid crystal display device can be removed before the manufacturing of each step is started, so that the manufacturing process of the liquid crystal display device can be advanced without causing a characteristic defect. Furthermore, since the static electricity of the liquid crystal display device is removed at the end of each step, the liquid crystal display device in a state where static electricity is not charged can be transported to the next step. Since static electricity can be removed by such a simple method, the yield rate of liquid crystal display devices can be improved.
