Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 ［技術分野］ 本発明は総括的に処理剤投与システムに関し、詳細に
いえば、処理剤を収納するパッケージ式システムと使用
に先立ってパッケージ式システムと簡単に組み合わせる
ことのできる処理器具に関する。
［背景技術］ 歯や歯茎の処理に当たり、処理剤を歯や歯茎に効果的
に投与し、該処理剤が歯や歯茎に接触したときに活性形
態となるようにすることが望ましい。このような目的に
有用な適切な器具は、たとえば、1990年７月31日付でM.
H.Newmanに対して発行された米国特許第4,944,947号に
記載されている。該特許に記載されているように、蹄鉄
形の発泡ポリマ歯科用器具内には水性処理液が分与され
ており、器具を患者の歯および歯茎にかぶせたときに、
処理液が簡単に塗布されるようになっている。効果的な
処理を行うために器具を患者の口内においておくのに必
要な時間は数分間に過ぎない。このような処理液は、た
とえば、フッ化物溶液、漂白液、その他の効果的な処理
液である。
通常、処理液は器具の製造中に発泡ポリマに付加され
るものであり、湿潤した器具は密封ポウチあるいはバッ
グに入れて出荷され、次いで、患者に対して使用するた
めに開封され、取り出される。あるいは、乾式真空成形
歯科用歯型トレイ器具を１つの包装または容器に入れて
出荷し、処理液をこれとは別の適当なガラス瓶その他の
容器に入れて出荷することもできる。たとえば、歯科医
あるいは歯科衛生士は両方の容器を開き、処理液を乾燥
している発泡ポリマの器具に塗布してから、患者に塗布
しなければならない。
上記の技法は何れも満足できないものである。最初の
手法の場合、処理液は発泡ポリマ器具から物理的に絞り
出されるものであり、薬剤が酸化によって劣化する可能
性がある。この場合、発泡ポリマ器具に収納されている
薬剤の量は少なくなり、処理の有効性が低下することと
なる。第２の手法の場合、器具と液の両方を取り扱うこ
とで、これらが汚染されることがあり、またこの取扱い
は不便であり、乱雑になるものである。さらに、器具へ
の液の塗布は効率が悪くなることがよくあり、処理の有
効性も低下することとなる。
発泡ポリマ器具と処理液を、処理の有効性が最大とな
るように発泡ポリマ材料全体に溶液を均等に分与できる
ようにする消毒され、使いやすく、しかも効率的な態様
で取り扱うための技法を考案することが望ましい。
［発明の概要］ 本発明によれば、発泡ポリマ歯科用器具は、発泡ポリ
マ材料内に分与される処理液を収めた相対的に小形の内
部ポウチないし容器が入っている外部ポウチないし容器
に収められる。小型の処理液用内部ポウチは外部容器内
の所定の領域に固定され、位置決めされており、外部容
器全体は発泡ポリマ器具と処理液ポウチが内部へ収めら
れてから、気密にシールされる。
処理液用内部ポウチは圧力をかけると簡単に破れる材
料製であり、したがって、器具の使用準備が整ったと
き、外部容器の処理液用ポウチが固定されている領域の
外面にユーザが圧力をかけるだけですむ。このような圧
力によって、処理液用ポウチが破れ、処理液が密封され
た外部容器内で流出する。次いで、ユーザは外部容器を
操作して、処理液が乾燥している発泡器具と接触し、発
泡ポリマ材料中へ簡単に吸収され、湿潤した器具全体に
わたって効果的に分与されるようにすることができる。
ユーザは次いで、外部容器を開いて、湿潤した発泡ポリ
マ器具を患者の歯や歯茎への塗布に利用することができ
る。
［発明の説明］ 第１図は、本発明の実施例で使用される容器全体の外
部前面図である。
第２図は、第１図に示した容器の外部側面図である。
第３図は、第１図に示した容器の外面の１部の前面図
である。
第４図は、第３図に示した容器の１部の断面図であ
る。
第１図からわかるように、以下で説明する特定の実施
例においては、たとえば、内面上にポリエチレン層を有
しているポリエステル・フィルムの外面にアルミニウム
を積層したものなどの適切なプラスチック材料製である
外部容器10は、図示のように、その４つの縁部で気密に
シールされている。上述のM.Newmanの米国特許に記載さ
れているタイプのものなどの発泡ポリマ器具11（破線で
示す）は、容器10の内部で比較的緩やかに配置されてい
る。容器10よりも相対的に小形である処理液用内部ポウ
チ12（破線で示す）は容器10のコーナの１つに比較的固
定的に配置されており、その縁部14は外部容器10の縁部
16の気密シール内に配置され、シールされ、容器10内で
の内部ポウチ12の望ましくない移動を防止するようにな
っている。ポウチ12は適切な外部指示手段15の下側に配
置されており、該外部指示手段はポウチ12とほぼ整合し
て容器10の外面に印刷されている。指示手段15には、図
示のように、たとえば、PRESS HERE（ここを押す）とい
う適切な説明が印刷されている。
ポウチ12は発泡ポリマ器具11全体に分与される処理液
17を収納している。このような処理液はフッ化ナトリウ
ムの水溶液などの適切なフッ化物溶液であっても、ある
いは過酸化水素などの適切な漂白剤であってもよい。ポ
ウチ12はポリエステルなどのフィルム状プラスチック材
料であり、外部容器10の縁部16でシールされている縁部
と反対側の内縁部のミシン目線12Aに沿ってミシン目が
入れられている。ミシン目の入っているフィルム状のポ
リエステル材料を使用することによって、破るための力
が比較的小さくなり、圧力をかけたときに、ポウチ12が
ミシン目線12Aのところで簡単に破れ、内容物が容器10
の内部で使用するのが容易となる。
したがって、歯科医や歯科衛生士などのユーザが器具
を患者に使用しようと考えた場合、ユーザが、たとえ
ば、容器の指示手段領域15の表面に配置された容器10の
表面を確実に押すと、ポウチ12が簡単に破れ、中に入っ
ていた処理液16が容器10の内部で流出する。可撓性のあ
る外部容器10をユーザが操作して、処理液が発泡ポリマ
器具11と接触し、発泡ポリマ材料に吸収され、該材料全
体にわたって分与されるようにすることができる。
圧力をかけて破ってから容器10を操作することによっ
て、処理液が容器中で、また発泡材料内へ効果的に広が
るようになる。発泡ポリマ器具11が処理液によって適切
に湿潤されたら、容器10の対向縁部18および19に形成さ
れた一つの対向して配置されている切欠き17の間の線に
沿って容器を引き裂くことによって、ユーザが容器10を
開くことができる。容器が開かれたら、湿潤した器具を
取り出し、患者の口内へ挿入して、上述のNewmanの米国
特許に記載されているようにして、処置を行うことがで
きる。
上述した本発明の実施例は本発明の好ましい実施例を
示しているが、本発明の精神および範囲内での改変形が
当分野の技術者には想起されるであろう。それ故、本発
明は以下の請求の範囲で規定されているところを除き、
該実施例に限定されるものと解すべきではない。

Claims (9)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】単一の第１のチャンバを形成する、容易に
    開封可能であり、完全にシールされた可撓性プラスチッ
    クの外部容器と、 単一の第２のチャンバを形成し、前記外部容器よりも小
    形であり、前記外部容器内の前記単一の第１のチャンバ
    に固定配置されることにより完全に外部容器内に収容さ
    れる完全にシールされた可撓性プラスティックの内部容
    器であって、処理液を収納しており、圧力をかけること
    によって容易に破れるように薄いプラスチックフィルム
    材料で構成される内部容器と、 前記外部容器内に配置された乾燥発泡要素と、 前記外部容器内の前記内部容器の位置を指示するための
    前記外部容器上の手段とを備えており、 圧力を前記指示される位置で外部容器にかけたときに、
    内部容器が破れ、前記処理液が前記乾燥発泡要素と接触
    して、前記発泡要素を処理液で湿潤させ、これによっ
    て、前記外部容器を開封したときに、湿潤した発泡要素
    が前記処理液を投与するために利用できることを特徴と
    する処理剤投与システム。
  2. 【請求項２】前記可撓性外部用器が一方表面上にアルミ
    ニウム積層を有し、他方の表面上にポリエステル層を有
    しているポリエステル・フィルム・ベース製であること
    を特徴とする、請求の範囲第１項に記載の処理液投与シ
    ステム。
  3. 【請求項３】前記内部容器が薄いフィルム状のポリエス
    テルプラスチック材料でできていることを特徴とする、
    請求の範囲第１項に記載の処理剤投与システム。
  4. 【請求項４】前記内部容器に縁部に沿ってミシン目が入
    っていることを特徴とする、請求の範囲第３項に記載の
    処理剤投与システム。
  5. 【請求項５】前記指示手段が外部容器内の前記内部容器
    の位置にほぼ整合して前記外部容器に印刷された説明で
    あることを特徴とする、請求の範囲第１項に記載の処理
    液。
  6. 【請求項６】前記乾燥発泡要素が前記外部容器内で緩や
    かに配置されており、内部容器が破られた後、前記処理
    液が存在しているときに、前記外部容器を操作して、発
    泡要素が該処理液によって完全に湿潤されるようにする
    ことができることを特徴とする、請求の範囲第１項に記
    載の処理液。
  7. 【請求項７】前記乾燥発泡要素が歯科用器具であり、前
    記処理液が歯科用処理液であることを特徴とする、請求
    の範囲第１項に記載の処理液。
  8. 【請求項８】前記歯科用処理液がフッ化物溶液であるこ
    とを特徴とする、請求の範囲第９項に記載の処理液。
  9. 【請求項９】前記歯科用処理液が漂白剤溶液であること
    を特徴とする、請求の範囲第９項に記載の処理液。
