Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】この発明は、パンツ型の使い捨て
おむつにおける腰周り側部の融着方法に関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】パンツ型使い捨ておむつの一例として、
特開平５−１５５５１号公報に開示された技術がある。
この技術では、表裏面シートの間に吸液性コアが介在し
てなるおむつ本体を、股下部において前後身頃の長手方
向へ折曲して重ね合わせ、腰周り側部で表裏面シートを
超音波で互いに融着することによりパンツ型の形状を得
ている。表裏面シートの一例は、熱可塑性合成繊維から
なる不織布であって、超音波処理により、その不織布が
溶融する。
【０００３】
【発明が解決しようとする課題】前記公報の技術による
表裏面シートの不織布は、同種の繊維によって構成する
ことが可能で、超音波処理では、その不織布が適度な粘
着性を帯びる程度にまで溶融することにより、表裏面シ
ートの融着部外観を滑らかに仕上げることができる。と
ころが、表面シートが相対的に高融点のポリプロピレン
繊維からなる不織布であり、一方裏面シートが低融点の
ポリエチレンシートであるような組み合わせでは、合掌
形式に重ね合わせて内側になったポリプロピレン繊維を
溶融しようとすると、外側のポリエチレンシートが先に
溶融してその粘度が所要程度以上に低くなり、超音波処
理のためにシートに押圧したホーンに付着することがあ
る。そのように付着したポリエチレンシートは、冷却後
に表面がザラザラになって着用者の肌を刺激し、不快感
を与えるばかりではなく、着用物品としての外観を損う
ことにもなるという問題がある。また、ホーンにポリエ
チレンが付着したままであると、次のおむつの超音波処
理においてホーンとアンビルとの間に正確なクリアラン
スを得ることができず、連続的な処理が困難になるいう
問題がある。
【０００４】そこで、この発明は、融点の低い裏面側シ
ートの外面に、そのシートよりも高融点の被覆シートを
位置させ、ホーンなどの押圧手段に接触させることによ
り前記従来技術の問題を解決することを課題にしてい
る。
【０００５】
【課題を解決するための手段】この発明が前記課題を解
決するために手段とするところは、以下のとおりであ
る。
【０００６】この発明に係る使い捨ておむつの融着方法
においては、前後身頃及びこれら間に介在する股下域を
有するパンツ型使い捨ておむつを透液性表面シートと、
不透液性裏面シートと、これら両シートの間に介在する
吸液性コアとによって構成し、前記前後身頃における前
記コアの左右各側縁から外方へ延出する翼部分を合掌形
式に重ね合わせ、前記翼部分の外側縁を加熱加圧下に融
着して一体化することにより胴周り側部を形成する前記
おむつの融着方法を前提にしている。
【０００７】かかる前提において、前記翼部分を形成す
る前記裏面シートの外面には、この裏面シートよりも高
融点の被覆シートを位置させ、この被覆シートとともに
前記翼部分の外側縁を融着することがこの発明の特徴で
ある。
【０００８】この発明の実施態様の一つにおいては、被
覆シートが表面側シート部材よりも高融点を有する。
【０００９】
【作用】このように構成した融着方法においては、融着
すべきシート部分に超音波ホーンや所要形状の加熱体な
どの加熱押圧手段を押し当てる。その押圧手段には、裏
面シートよりも高融点の被覆シートが接触し、溶融した
裏面シートは、押圧手段に付着することがない。

【実施例】この発明に係る融着方法の詳細を添付の図面
を参照して説明すると、以下のとおりである。
【００１１】図１は、この発明に係る融着方法によって
得たパンツ型おむつ１の斜視図である。おむつ１は、ポ
リプロピレン繊維からなるメルトボンド不織布製の透液
性表面シート２と、ポリエチレンシート製の不透液性裏
面シート３と、これら両シート２，３間に介在する吸液
性コア４とからなり、前身頃５と、後身頃６と、股下部
７とを有する。胴周り開口部１１と左右脚周り開口部１
２の周縁には、弾性伸縮部材１３，１４が貼着してあ
る。前後身頃５，６は、表面シート２を内側にして重ね
合わせてあり、裏面シート３の左右両側には、ポリプロ
ピレンシート製の被覆シート２０があって、これらシー
ト２，３，２０が胴周り側部の上下方向に間欠的に延在
する超音波融着部１５において互いに融着し、一体にな
っている。
【００１２】図２は、前記融着する前のおむつ１Ａを、
前後身頃の長手方向へ展開したときの平面図であって、
一部が切り欠いてある。おむつ１Ａは、前後身頃５，６
の各々において、表裏面シート２，３が吸液性コア４側
縁から外方へ延出して形成する翼部２１，２２を有す
る。なお、翼部２１，２２を構成するものは、表裏面シ
ート２，３の他に、それらに代えて各シートの面方向へ
接合した所要特性を有する表面側シート部材や裏面側シ
ート部材にすることもできる。翼部２１，２２の裏面シ
ート３側には、ポリプロピレンシートからなる被覆シー
ト２０がある。おむつ１Ａの左右両側には、表面シート
２の上に長手方向へ延在する一対のフラップ３１が設け
てある。フラップ３１は、その外側部２５と両端部２
６，２７とが表面シート２に接合し、内側縁２８は、そ
こに伸長下に貼着した弾性部材２９の作用によって表面
シート２から起立可能である。
【００１３】図３は、図２のＸ−Ｘ線端面図である。な
お、図２のＹ−Ｙ線端面は、図３と実質的に同じであ
る。おむつ１Ａは、翼部２１において、表裏面シート
２，３がホットメルト接着剤３３により間欠的に接着し
てあり、また裏面シート３と被覆シート２０もホットメ
ルト接着剤３３により接着してある。フラップ３１は、
おむつ１Ａの内方へ向かって表面シート２との間にポケ
ット３０を形成している。吸液性コア４は、必要に応じ
表面シート２および／または裏面シート３に接着可能で
ある。
【００１４】図４は、図２のおむつ１Ａを中心線Ｃ−Ｃ
に沿って内側へ折曲し、合掌形式に重ね合わせた前後身
頃の翼部２１，２２を超音波溶接機４０により融着する
ときの模式的側面図である。溶接機４０は、慣用のもの
であって、超音波発振機（図示せず）に接続するホーン
４１と、固定したアンビル４２とからなり、これらが翼
部２１，２２を挟圧して融着し、ホーン４１の先端形状
に倣う融着部１５（図１参照）を形成する。
【００１５】おむつ１Ａの超音波処理においては、重ね
合わせた表面シート２どうしが融着する処理条件を選ば
ねばならない。その場合に、表面シート２を構成するポ
リプロピレン繊維よりも融点の低い裏面シート３を構成
するポリエチレンシートは、いち早く溶融して粘度が低
下し、粘着性を帯びるようになるが、このポリエチレン
シートとホーン４１との間には、ポリプロピレン製の被
覆シート２０が介在しており、ポリエチレンシートがホ
ーン４１に付着するのを防止している。
【００１６】図５は、超音波処理により得られる融着部
の模式的断面図であって、（Ａ）は、この発明の方法に
従い被覆シート２０を使用した場合の融着部１５を示
し、（Ｂ）は、被覆シート２０を使用しなかった場合を
示す。（Ａ）では、ポリプロピレンの粘度が著しく低下
せず、どちらかといえば、やや硬めの溶融状態で融着す
ることにより、融着部１５は、ホーン４１を押圧した痕
跡に丸みがあって、滑らかに仕上り、肌が触れたときに
も刺激を与えることがない。一方、（Ｂ）では、ポリプ
ロピレンの溶融状態が硬めであっても、ポリエチレンシ
ートが溶融して粘着性を帯び、ホーン４１やアンビル４
２に付着して、冷却後の融着部は、表面状態がザラザラ
になり、肌に突き刺さるような刺激を与えることがあ
る。
【００１７】図６は、（Ａ）と（Ｂ）とによって、図３
とは異なる態様の端面を示す。（Ａ）においては、表面
シート２の幅が狭く、コア４の側縁から僅かしか延出し
ていないが、表面シート２にホットメルト接着剤３３を
介して連なるフラップ３１の外側部２５の幅が広く、裏
面シート３とともに翼部２１を形成している。前後身頃
５，６を折曲すると、外側部２５どうしを重ね合わせる
ことになるから、そこに超音波処理を施す。フラップ３
１は、ポリプロピレンのスパンボンド不織布でできてい
る。（Ｂ）においては、翼部２１の表面側シート部材が
ポリプロピレンのスパンボンド不織布製カバーシート３
７であって、このシート３７は、外側部２５を被覆して
いる。表面シート２、外側部２５、およびカバーシート
３７はホットメルト接着剤３３を介してつながってい
る。この場合には、前後身頃１１，１２を折曲するとカ
バーシート３７どうしを重ね合わせることになるから、
そこに超音波処理を施す。（Ａ）、（Ｂ）いずれも、裏
面シート３は、ポリエチレンシートでできている。
【００１８】この発明においては、表面側シート部材や
裏面シート３、被覆シート２０を融点の異なる繊維の混
合物にすることができる。その場合の各シートの融点の
高低とは、合計が６０重量％以上を占める構成繊維の融
点の違いを意味する。
【００１９】また、被覆シート２０の融点は、裏面シー
ト３を構成する素材の融点よりも高くなければならない
が、より好ましくは、表面側シート部材の融点と同じで
あるか、またはそれよりも高くする。そうすることによ
り加熱押圧手段の痕跡を浅く、小さめにすることが容易
になる。
【００２０】実施例のように、おむつ１において、ポリ
プロピレン繊維からなる不織布を表面シート２や表面側
シート部材として使用すると、繊度や密度にもよるが、
比較的腰の強いこの繊維が不織布にクッション性を与
え、心地よい着用感をもたらす。また、ポリエチレンエ
チレンシートを裏面シート３として使用すると、比較的
安価なこのシートが柔軟で感触のよい肌触りをもたら
す。
【００２１】なお、被覆シート２０は、裏面シート３の
所要域または全域を覆う大きさを有し、これに予めラミ
ネートしてもよい。

【発明の効果】この発明に係る融着方法においては、超
音波ホーンなどの加熱押圧手段と裏面シートとの間に裏
面シートよりも高融点の被覆シートを介在させるから、
溶融した裏面シートが押圧手段に付着することがない。
従って、冷却後の融着部表面は、ザラザラになって着用
者の肌を刺激するとか、おむつの外観を損ねるというこ
とがない。ホーンには、溶融したシート材料が付着しな
いから、超音波処理工程が安定する。

  1. 【請求項１】パンツ型使い捨ておむつを透液性表面シー
    トと、不透液性裏面シートと、これら両シートの間に介
    在する吸液性コアとによって構成し、前記前後身頃にお
    ける前記コアの左右各側縁から外方へ延出する翼部分を
    前記表面シートがおむつの内側に位置するように合掌形
    式に重ね合わせ、前記翼部分の対向側縁を加熱加圧下に
    融着して一体化することにより胴周り側部を形成するパ
    ンツ型使い捨ておむつの融着方法において、前記翼部分を形成する 前記裏面シート部分の外面には該
    裏面シートよりも高融点の被覆シートを位置させ、該被
    覆シートとともに前記翼部分の外側縁を融着することを
    特徴とする前記融着方法。
