Abstract
Description
「上から下」の流れという用語は、図1A(装置が垂直に取り付けられている場合)におけるポリマー溶液流の流れを詳述するために使用される。ポリマー溶液が装置の内側から装置の外側周縁部に流れるため、それは内側から外側の流れと呼ばれることもある。「上から下」の流れまたは「内側から外側」の流れという用語は、装置がどのように機能するかを読者に説明するための1つの手法にすぎない。装置が垂直ではなく水平に取り付けられている場合、流れは左から右または右から左に発生する可能性もある。
「下から上」の流れという用語は、図2、3Aおよび3B(装置が垂直に取り付けられている場合)におけるポリマー溶液流の流れを詳述するために使用される。ポリマー溶液が装置の外側周縁部から装置の内側に流れるため、それは外側から内側の流れと呼ばれることもある。「下から上」の流れまたは「外側から内側」の流れという用語は、装置がどのように機能するかを読者に説明するための1つの手法にすぎない。装置が垂直ではなく水平に取り付けられている場合、流れは左から右または右から左に発生する可能性もある。
例示的な実施形態において、入口温度T1は、120〜230℃であり、入口圧力P1は、35〜250kgf/cm2であり、出口温度T2は、150〜300℃であり、出口圧力P2は、20〜200kgf/cm2である。
これは、本明細書に開示される装置を実証する例である。平板熱交換器は、外径d1が160.2センチメートル(図1Aを参照)、内径d2が90センチメートル、全高が360センチメートル(図1Aを参照)の円筒シェル構成で設計されている。交換器は、複数の層を備える。層は、プレートおよび壁を備える。交換器の各層は、60のチャネルを備える。各チャネルは、0.254センチメートルの高さを有し、各層は、高さ0.254センチメートルのプレートで区切られている。
これは比較例であり、上記の例と同じ流体および流速のシェルアンドチューブ熱交換器で実行される。シェルアンドチューブ熱交換器では、標準設計が使用され、ポリマー溶液がチューブを流れ、媒体がシェルを流れる。各チューブは、内径2.0センチメートル、外径2.5センチメートル、全長260センチメートルで設計されている。各チューブには、アスペクト比1.5のねじりテープ型混合エレメントが充填されている。直径300センチメートルのシェルの中に合計8,000のチューブがはめ込まれている。
これもまた比較例である。上記(a)の平板加熱器を脱揮容器(ポリマー溶液が実際に2相に相分離する容器)内に設置した場合、いくつかの大きな問題が生じる。
1)ポリマー溶液はチャネル内で2相になる。これにより、熱伝達率が低下する。
2)この交換器のサイズが大きすぎる−応力のためにそのような装置を構築できる可能性は低い。
3)溶液が平板加熱器(FPH)コア内またはチャネルの入口で気泡点に到達し、同じく熱伝達効率が低下するため、流体温度が290℃まで高くなることができない。さらに、流体温度がより低いと、熱伝達の推進力が劇的に低下する。したがって、実施例1に示されている例が好ましい例である。
これは、ポリマー溶液から重合熱を除去するための冷却モードでの装置の使用を詳述する本発明の理論的な例である。平板冷却器は、外径d1が282センチメートル(図1Aを参照)、内径d2が105センチメートル、全高が370センチメートル(図1Aを参照)の円筒シェル構成で設計されている。交換器は、複数の層を備える。層は、プレートおよび壁を備える。交換器の各層は、65の導管を備える。各導管は、0.381センチメートルの高さを有し、各層は、高さ0.254センチメートルのプレートで区切られている。
チャネル内のゾーンの寸法(幅もしくは高さ等)または断面積に関して使用される「実質的に均一」とは、それが全く収束も拡大もしないか、またはその寸法の平均の10パーセント以下で収束および/もしくは拡大していることを意味する。
Claims (17)
- ポリマー溶液を加熱または冷却するための装置であって、
ポリマー溶液をシェルに導入するための入口ポート、および前記ポリマー溶液を前記シェルから除去するための出口ポートを有する前記シェルであって、前記ポリマー溶液は、ポリマーおよび前記ポリマーを溶解するように作用する溶媒を含む前記シェルと、
上下に積み重ねられて、前記シェルの前記入口ポートと流体連通する中央通路を画定し、各導管が前記中央通路から半径方向外向きに延在する複数の導管をさらに画定する、前記シェル内の複数のプレートであって、前記複数の導管は、前記中央通路と流体連通する、複数のプレートと、を備え、前記装置は、前記シェルの前記入口ポートから前記シェルの出口ポートに前記装置を通って移動する間、前記ポリマー溶液を単相に維持するのに有効な圧力および温度で操作される、装置。 - 前記ポリマー溶液が、入口ポートから出口ポートまで一定の温度で加熱、冷却、または維持される、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記ポリマー溶液が、前記シェルの前記入口ポートから前記中央通路へ、前記中央ポートから前記複数の導管を通って、次いで前記シェルの前記出口ポートへと移動する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記ポリマー溶液が、前記シェルの前記入口ポートから前記シェルの周縁部へ、前記シェルの前記周縁部から前記複数の導管を通って前記シェルの中心へ、次いで前記シェルの前記出口ポートへと移動する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記入口ポートでの前記ポリマー溶液の温度が、120℃〜230℃であり、前記入口ポートでの前記ポリマー溶液の圧力が、35〜250キログラム力毎平方センチメートルである、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記出口ポートでの前記ポリマー溶液の温度が、200℃〜300℃であり、前記出口ポートでの前記ポリマー溶液の圧力が、20〜200キログラム力毎平方センチメートルである、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記ポリマー溶液が、前記装置が動作する剪断速度で100〜2,000,000センチポアズの溶液粘度を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 各導管が、その全長にわたって様々な幅を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 各導管が、その全長にわたって一定の幅を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 各導管が、その全長の一部にわたって増加する幅を有し、その全長の一部にわたって減少する幅を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 各導管が、熱伝達流体が輸送されるチューブを含む壁と流体連通する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記ポリマー溶液が、前記入口ポートの温度よりも低い温度で前記出口ポートを出る、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記ポリマー溶液が、前記入口ポートの温度よりも高い温度で前記出口ポートを出る、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記装置と流体連通するポンプであって、前記装置の上流に配置され、前記ポリマー溶液を前記装置に汲み出すように動作するポンプと、
圧力調整デバイスであって、前記装置の下流に配置され、前記溶液を単相に保ち、次いで前記ポリマー溶液の圧力を下げて前記ポリマー溶液の単相から多相への変換を容易にするように動作する圧力調整デバイスと、をさらに備え、前記ポリマー溶液を脱揮するか、または前記ポリマー溶液中での反応を促進するように機能する、請求項1〜13のいずれか一項に記載の装置。 - 前記ポンプが、容積式ポンプであり、前記圧力調整デバイスが、弁、オリフィス、またはノズルである、請求項14に記載の脱気装置。
- ポリマー溶液をシェルに導入するための入口ポート、および前記ポリマー溶液を前記シェルから除去するための出口ポートを有する前記シェルと、
上下に積み重ねられて、前記シェルの前記入口ポートと流体連通する中央通路を画定し、各導管が前記中央通路から半径方向外向きに延在する複数の導管をさらに画定する、前記シェル内の複数のプレートであって、前記複数の導管は、前記中央通路と流体連通する、複数のプレートとを備える装置に、単相のポリマー溶液を排出することと、
前記シェルの前記入口ポートから前記出口ポートに前記装置を通って移動する間、前記ポリマー溶液を単相に維持するのに有効な圧力および温度で前記装置を操作することと、
前記装置の前記出口ポートから前記単相のポリマー溶液を除去することであって、前記出口ポートの前記ポリマー溶液は、前記入口ポートの前記ポリマー溶液の温度より低い温度、より高い温度、またはそれと同じ温度を有する、除去することとを含む、方法。 - 前記単相ポリマー溶液から二相への変換を容易にするために、前記装置の下流の前記ポリマー溶液の圧力を低下させることをさらに含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
