ポリケトンは一般的には石油産業において用いられる。具体的には、輸送システムにおける化学物質の汚染やそのような輸送システムの腐食を規制するために用いられれば有利である。自動車産業においては、耐高温性および燃料に対する耐性が求められるコネクタに用いられる場合がある。建築産業においては、高温気候で、ガラス繊維充填ナイロンをガラス繊維充填ポリケトンに置き換えられれば有利である。
・POMに起因するホルムアルデヒドの問題が生じないこと
・摩擦係数がPBTより高いこと
・機械的性質がPAより良好であること
・サイクルタイムの短縮により、生産コストが削減されること
機械的性質:
材料の機械的性質を評価する試験の1つに、耐衝撃性、つまり「靭性」の測定試験がある。この試験の原理は、試験片を1回の衝撃で破砕するのに必要なエネルギーを測定することにある。なお、試験片にはあらかじめ切り込みが入れられていてもよい。破砕に必要なエネルギーは、ハンマーの開始位置(最高位置)と試験片が破砕された後の終了位置とにおける、ハンマーの高さの差分を算出することにより得られる。
摩擦:
この試験は、2つの材料を互いに摩擦させてこれらの摩擦係数を測定することで構成される。この比較試験の材料にはニトリルゴムを用いた。

抽出物:
