Abstract
Description

電界整形要素
本明細書中に記載される医療デバイスシステムは、リード、電極、及び電界整形要素の各種組み合わせを含み得る。電界整形要素は、腫瘍の部位に電界を発生させることができる医療デバイスと共に、腫瘍の部位又はその近傍に植え込まれ得る。いくつかの実施形態では、電界整形要素は、リード、電極、及び電界発生器ハードウェアを含む医療デバイス全体と共に植え込まれ得る。いくつかの実施形態では、電界整形要素は、リード、電極、及び/又は電界発生器ハードウェアなどの医療デバイスの1つ以上の部分と共に植え込まれ得る。他の実施形態では、電界整形要素は、癌性腫瘍の部位又はその近傍に、1つ以上のリード及び電極と共に植え込むことができ、電界発生器ハードウェアは、内部リード及び電極構成要素に電気的に接続されるように、体外に外部配置され得る。内部リード及び電極構成要素への外部ハードウェアの電気的な接続には、容量結合、誘導結合、導電結合、並びに高周波及び音響エネルギー伝達技術等などであるがこれらに限定されない各種機構を含み得る。
リード及び電極
本明細書中に記載されるリードは、いくつかの手法を用いて、体内の、癌性腫瘍の部位近傍に配置され得る。1つ以上のリードの配置には、経血管配置、皮下腔へのトンネリング、及び/又は外科的配置などの手法を使用することを含み得る。いくつかの実施形態では、1つ以上のリードの配置は、1つ以上の天然身体開口部を通した配置を含み得る。リードは、癌性腫瘍に隣接して又は癌性腫瘍内に配置され得る。いくつかの実施形態では、癌性腫瘍の近くで又は遠くで複数のリードが使用され得る。
治療パラメータ
癌性腫瘍の成功的治療は、電界強度、周波数、細胞の不均一性、細胞の大きさ、癌細胞の種類、腫瘍の大きさ、及び体内の位置を含むいくつかの変数に依存し得る。本明細書中に記載される医療デバイスを使用し、様々な治療パラメータが実施され得る。1つ以上の治療的パラメータセットは医療デバイスのメモリにプログラムされ、図3に示される制御回路306によって実施され得る。例示的な治療的パラメータセットは、以下の概念を実施するものを含み得る:様々な周波数の掃引、1つ以上の周波数の同時スタッキング、1つ以上の周波数の逐次ステッピング、1つ以上の電界の空間的又は時間的送達、様々な電界強度の掃引、有効な回転電界の印加、電圧制御モード又は電流制御モードの調整、1つ以上のデューティサイクルの実施、パルス幅変調、波形形状及び/又はパルス系列の操作、並びに高周波又は高電界強度パルスの時折の使用。
電界発生器
本明細書で具現化される医療デバイスは、癌性腫瘍の治療過程中に使用される治療法及び診断法に特に適した電界発生器を含み得る。いくつかの実施形態では、本明細書での使用に適した電界発生器は、癌性腫瘍の主要治療として指示されることの多い放射線治療の有害な作用にその構成要素が耐えるようにするために放射硬化で処理されたものを含み得る。電界発生器は、上記の図3及び図5を参照して説明したものなどの構成要素を含み得る。
Claims (15)
- 癌性腫瘍を治療するための医療デバイスシステムであって、
1つ以上の電界発生電極と、
前記1つ以上の電界発生電極と共に植え込まれるように構成された電界整形要素であって、電界に曝された組織の空間的領域を変質させる材料を含む、電界整形要素と、
を含む、医療デバイスシステム。 - リードを更に含み、前記1つ以上の電界発生電極が前記リード上に配置されている、請求項1及び3〜8のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 前記リードは、基端部と先端部とを有するリード本体を含み、前記リード本体は、前記リード本体を通り、前記1つ以上の電界発生電極と前記リード本体の前記基端部との間に電気通信を提供する1つ以上の導体を含む、請求項1〜2及び4〜8のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 前記電界整形要素は、前記リード及び前記1つ以上の電界発生電極から物理的に分離されている、請求項1〜3及び5〜8のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 前記電界整形要素は、癌性腫瘍と隣接する非癌性組織との間に、又は隣接する非癌性組織と前記1つ以上の電界発生電極との間に配置されるように構成されている、請求項1〜4及び6〜8のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 前記電界整形要素は、電界のエネルギーを減衰させる材料を含む、請求項1〜5及び7〜8のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 前記電界整形要素は高誘電体材料を含む、請求項1〜6及び8のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 前記電界整形要素は、
前記癌性腫瘍に対して凹形状、及び
前記癌性腫瘍に対して放物面形状
のうちの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。 - 癌性腫瘍を治療するための医療デバイスシステムであって、
1つ以上の電界発生電極と、
前記1つ以上の電界発生電極と共に植え込まれるように構成された電界整形要素であって、電界から非癌性組織を遮蔽するように構成されている、電界整形要素と、
を含む、医療デバイスシステム。 - リードを更に含み、前記1つ以上の電界発生電極が前記リード上に配置されている、請求項9及び11〜13のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 前記電界整形要素は、前記リード及び前記1つ以上の電界発生電極から物理的に分離されている、請求項9〜10及び12〜13のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 前記電界整形要素は連続した金属シートを含み、前記連続した金属シートは、前記電界が前記非癌性組織に接触するのを防ぐために、前記金属シートの外面で電界を効果的に分路するように、前記連続した金属シート内に配置された1つ以上の孔を含む、請求項9〜11及び13のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 前記電界整形要素は連続した金属シートを含み、前記連続した金属シートは拡張可能格子を含む、請求項9〜12のいずれか一項に記載の医療デバイスシステム。
- 癌性腫瘍を治療する方法であって、
癌性腫瘍の近位に材料を配置することであって、前記材料は、置換される患者組織よりも少なく電界を減衰させる、ことと、
前記材料の、前記癌性腫瘍から反対側に1つ以上の電極を配置することと、
前記1つ以上の電極から前記癌性腫瘍の部位に電界を発生させることと、
を含む、方法。 - 前記材料を配置することは、患者組織の一部分を、置換される前記患者組織よりも少なく前記電界を減衰させる前記材料と置換することを含む、請求項14に記載の方法。
