前記データ電圧を前記ピクセルに印加するためのスキャン信号と発光するピクセルを消灯するためのリセット信号とを前記スキャンラインを介して前記ピクセルに供給するためのゲート駆動回路と、
前記データ駆動回路とゲート駆動回路とを制御して、前記表示パネルの第1領域の第1ピクセルを同時に発光させ、同時に消灯させ、前記第1領域を除外した第2領域の第2ピクセルを順次発光させて順次消灯させるようにするタイミングコントローラを含む表示装置。 - 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第1ピクセルのすべてに前記データ電圧を印加した後、前記第1ピクセルを同時に発光させ、以降、順次、前記第2ピクセルに前記データ電圧を印加しながら前記第2ピクセルを発光させることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第1ピクセルが同時に発光した後、所定の発光時間が経過した後、同時に消灯するようにし前記第2ピクセルが水平ライン単位で順次発光した後、前記所定の発光時間が経過した後、順次消灯することを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1領域が、前記データラインが進行する第1方向に関して、前記表示パネルの中央に配置され、前記第2領域が前記第1方向に関して前記第1領域の上と下に第3及び第4領域に分割され、前記タイミングコントローラは、ピンポンアドレッシング方式で前記第3領域での第1スキャン動作と前記第4領域での第2スキャン動作を1水平期間を周期で交互進行するようにすることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記ピンポンアドレッシング方式で前記第1方向に関して前記第1領域の中央で前記第3領域への上向きスキャン動作と、前記第1領域の中央から前記第4領域への下向きスキャン動作を前記1水平期間を周期で交互進行するようにするか、または前記タイミングコントローラは、順次アドレッシング方式で前記第1領域の第1境界から第2境界の方へのスキャン動作を行うようにすることを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1領域が、前記データラインが進行する第1方向に関して、前記表示パネルの中央に配置され、前記第2領域が前記第1方向に関して前記第1領域の片側と反対側に第3及び第4領域に分割され、前記タイミングコントローラは、順次アドレッシング方式で前記第1領域と前記第3領域との境界から前記第4領域の方へのスキャン動作を行った後、前記第3領域を前記順次アドレッシング方式で前記スキャン動作を行うようにすることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1領域が、前記データラインが進行する第1方向に関して、前記表示パネルの一方の端に配置されるとき、前記タイミングコントローラは、順次アドレッシング方式で前記第1領域から前記第2領域の方向にスキャン動作を進行するようにすることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第1領域で前記第1ピクセルに前記データ電圧を印加する第1スキャン速度と前記第2領域で前記第2ピクセルに前記データ電圧を印加する第2スキャン速度を同じようにした状態で前記第1及び第2スキャン速度を可変して前記ピクセルが発光した後、消灯されるまで、発光時間を調整することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第2領域で前記第2ピクセルを消灯するためのリセット信号の第3スキャン速度を前記第2スキャン速度より速くして前記第2領域での発光時間を前記第1領域から離れるほど徐々に減らすことを特徴とする、請求項8に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第2領域の第2ピクセルに印加されるデータ電圧に対応するデータ階調を前記第1領域から離れるほど上向きに調整することを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第2領域で前記第2ピクセルに前記データ電圧を印加する第2スキャン速度を前記第1領域で前記第1ピクセルに前記データ電圧を印加する第1スキャン速度とは異なるように変更して、前記ピクセルが発光した後、消灯するまで、発光時間を調整することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記データラインが進行する第1方向に関して前記第1領域の幅が変わるとき、前記第1領域で前記第1ピクセルに前記データ電圧を印加する第1スキャン速度と、前記第2領域で前記第2ピクセルに前記データ電圧を印加する第2スキャン速度を同じようにした状態で、前記第1ピクセルを同時に発光させる発光時点を前後に調整するか、または発光時点を固定し、前記第1及び第2スキャン速度を調整することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記ピクセルが発光した後、消灯するまで、発光時間を増加させるとき、電源生成部を制御して前記ピクセルに印加される電源電圧のレベルを下げることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ピクセルは、
発光素子:
ソース‐ゲート間電圧に応じて前記発光素子を流れる駆動電流を制御するための駆動トランジスタ;
前記スキャン信号に応じて、前記データラインと前記駆動トランジスタのゲート電極とを接続するための第1トランジスタ;
前記データラインを介して印加されるデータ電圧を貯蔵するためのキャパシタ;及び
前記リセット信号に応じて前記駆動トランジスタと前記発光素子とを初期化し、前記発光素子を消灯させるための第2トランジスタを含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記ゲート駆動回路は、前記第1ピクセルを同時に発光させ、所定の発光時間が経過した後、前記第1ピクセルに前記リセット信号を同時に印加し、前記リセット信号を同時に印加した後、前記水平ライン単位で順次前記第2ピクセルに前記リセット信号を印加することを特徴とする、請求項14に記載の表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第1ピクセルに前記データ電圧を印加する間、前記第1ピクセルに電源電圧を印加しないように、電源生成部を制御することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1領域と第2領域とは、電源ラインとの接続が互いに電気的に分離され、
前記タイミングコントローラは、
前記第1ピクセルが発光する間、前記第1ピクセルに電源電圧を印加し、
前記第2ピクセルに前記データ電圧を印加して、前記第2ピクセルが発光する間、前記第2ピクセルに前記電源電圧を印加するように構成されたことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
