工程1:ニコチン酸の(直鎖状または分枝状の)C1〜C4のアルキルエステル(ただし、このエステルおよび対応するアルコールが、メンチルニコチナートおよびメンソールのそれぞれよりも沸点が十分低く、蒸留によりこれらの混合物から容易に分離できるという条件)とのメンソールのエステル交換反応。前記アルキルエステルは、好ましくはC1〜C2のアルキルエステルであり、より好ましくはメチルニコチナートである。前記エステル交換反応はアルキルアルコキシドまたはアルコラートR−O−Me+(Rは、C1〜C4(好ましくはC1〜C2)の直鎖状または分枝状のアルキル群であり、Me+は、ナトリウムおよびカリウムから選択される)の種類に属するアルカリ触媒の存在下、行われる。前記アルコキシドは、より好ましくはナトリウムメトキシドおよびカリウムメトキシドの中から選択され、さらに好ましくはナトリウムメトキシドである。
前記メンソールは前記ニコチン酸のアルキルエステルに対して、1:1〜20:1のモル比であり、
前記反応は、40〜150℃(好ましくは70〜120℃)の温度で、以下の図に沿って行われる。
(工程1−反応)
蒸留塔を備える反応器において、615.20g(3.9M)のメンソールおよび360.00g(2.6M)のメチルニコチナートを、真空下で溶解する。24.80gのアルカリ触媒(ナトリウムメトキシド溶液(5.4Mのメンソール溶液;30重量%)で構成され、市場において容易に入手可能である(最近では、特に、バイオディーゼルの合成業界において使用される))を加える。
(工程1中に必ず生成されるテルペン物質の量に依存して)通常、黄色/琥珀色/茶色に着色した、(メンチルニコチナート、余剰のメンソール、反応しなかった少量のメチルエステル、および二次テルペン化合物で主に構成される)工程1の生成物をロータリーエバポレータに直接注ぐ。
活性炭を用いないこと以外は同様にして、実施例1に記載の手順を行う。
Claims (11)
- 以下の工程を含む、健康に害を及ぼす溶媒なしで純度の高いメンチルニコチナートを調製するプロセス。
工程1:C1〜C4のアルコキシドの種類に属する直鎖状または分枝状のアルカリ触媒の存在下、40℃〜150℃の温度での、C1〜C4のニコチン酸のアルキルエステルとのメンソールのエステル交換反応、
ここで、メンソールはニコチン酸の前記アルキルエステルに対して、1:1〜20:1のモル比であり、
前記反応は、不完全真空下で行われて、前記反応により生成されるC1〜C4のアルキルアルコールのみの除去を促し、その後、
前記反応により得られる生成物をろ過して、反応生成物から触媒の残渣を分離する;
工程2:蒸留される反応物(混合物)の質量に対して0.1〜5%の濃度の活性炭の存在下、まず、工程1で反応しなかったC1〜C4のニコチン酸のアルキルエステル、次に、余剰のメンソール、その後、純メンチルニコチナートを蒸留するような温度および真空条件下での、工程1で得られる反応生成物の混合物の蒸留。 - 工程1における前記C1〜C4のニコチン酸のアルキルエステルが、メチルニコチナートである、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 工程1における前記C1〜C4のニコチン酸のアルキルエステルのモル量が、メンソールに対して1:1.5〜1:2である、請求項1または2に記載のプロセス。
- 工程1の前記温度が、70℃〜120℃である、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のプロセス。
- 工程1の前記真空が、100〜400ミリバールである、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のプロセス。
- 工程1の前記触媒が、ナトリウムメトキシドである、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載のプロセス。
- 比表面積が一般に500〜2500m2/gである粉末活性炭が工程2で使用され、好ましくは比表面積が約1400m2/gである、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載のプロセス。
- 工程2のメンチルニコチナートの蒸留の温度および真空が、約150℃〜170℃であり、0.5〜2.0ミリバールである、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載のプロセス。
- メンチルニコチナートの収量が少なくとも65%であり、好ましくは少なくとも79%であり、より好ましくは83〜87%である、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載のプロセス。
- 工程1の前記触媒が、前記エステルに対して0.1〜10重量%の量で使用される、請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載のプロセス。
- 純度が約99.55%のメンチルニコチナートを調製するための、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載のプロセス。
