本発明は、上述の実施形態の1以上の機能を実現するプログラムを、ネットワーク又は記憶媒体を介してシステム又は装置に供給し、そのシステム又は装置のコンピュータにおける1つ以上のプロセッサーがプログラムを読出し実行する処理でも実現可能である。また、1以上の機能を実現する回路(例えば、ASIC)によっても実現可能である。

Claims (10)
- それぞれ複数の画素を有し、互いに異なる色光を変調する複数の光変調素子と、
前記複数の光変調素子のそれぞれにおける前記複数の画素に共通して印加される第1の電圧を生成するとともに、該複数の画素の入射光に対する出射光の比率の最大値を決める第2の電圧を生成し、入力された映像信号の階調に応じて前記画素ごとに前記第2の電圧をパルス幅変調して前記複数の光変調素子を駆動する駆動手段とを有し、
前記駆動手段は、前記複数の光変調素子のうち少なくとも1つの光変調素子に対して他の光変調素子とは異なる前記第2の電圧を設定して前記複数の光変調素子を駆動することを特徴とする画像投射装置。 - 前記駆動手段は、前記複数の光変調素子に対して互いに同じ前記第2の電圧を設定した第1の設定状態と、前記少なくとも1つの光変調素子に対して前記他の光変調素子とは異なる前記第2の電圧を設定した第2の設定状態とで前記複数の光変調素子を駆動することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画像投射装置。
- 複数の画像投射モードの選択が可能であり、
前記駆動手段は、前記複数の画像投射モードのうちいずれか1つの画像投射モードが選択された場合に、前記少なくとも1つの光変調素子に対して前記他の光変調素子とは異なる前記第2の電圧を設定することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の画像投射装置。 - 第1の画像投射モードと第2の画像投射モードの選択が可能であり、
前記駆動手段は、
前記第1の画像投射モードが選択された場合は前記第1の設定状態で前記複数の光変調素子を駆動し、
前記第2の画像投射モードが選択された場合は前記第2の設定状態で前記複数の光変調素子を駆動することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の画像投射装置。 - 前記複数の色光の光量の割合を検出するための光量センサを有しており、
前記駆動手段は、前記光量の割合に応じて、前記少なくとも1つの光変調素子に対して前記他の光変調素子とは異なる前記第2の電圧を設定することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の画像投射装置。 - 前記駆動手段は、前記少なくとも1つの光変調素子の前記第1の電圧を前記他の光変調素子の前記第1の電圧と異ならせることを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の画像投射装置。
- 前記駆動手段は、前記少なくとも1つの光変調素子の前記第1の電圧および前記第2の電圧を、該第1の電圧と前記第2の電圧との差を変えることなく変更することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の画像投射装置。
- 前記駆動手段は、前記複数の光変調素子のそれぞれに対応する複数の色の映像信号の階調に対して互いに同じパルス幅変調パターンを用いて、前記複数の光変調素子の前記第2の電圧をパルス幅変調することを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の画像投射装置。
- それぞれ複数の画素を有し、互いに異なる色光を変調する複数の光変調素子を有する画像投射装置の制御方法であって、
前記複数の光変調素子のそれぞれにおいて前記複数の画素に共通して印加される第1の電圧を生成するステップと、
該複数の画素の入射光に対する出射光の比率の最大値を決める第2の電圧を生成するステップと、
入力された映像信号の階調に応じて前記画素ごとに前記第2の電圧をパルス幅変調して前記複数の光変調素子を駆動するステップとを有し、
前記複数の光変調素子のうち少なくとも1つの光変調素子に対して他の光変調素子とは異なる前記第2の電圧を設定して前記複数の光変調素子を駆動することを特徴とする画像投射装置の制御方法。 - それぞれ複数の画素を有し、互いに異なる色光を変調する複数の光変調素子を有する画像投射装置のコンピュータに、請求項9に記載の制御方法に従う処理を実行させることを特徴とするコンピュータプログラム。
