Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a thermal transfer image receiving sheet. Specifically, the present invention relates to a thermal transfer image receiving sheet having a hologram pattern.
A thermal transfer printer that transfers a desired image onto the image receiving surface of a thermal transfer image receiving sheet by combining a thermal transfer sheet and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet and heating the thermal transfer sheet with a thermal head or laser according to an electrical signal is relatively compact. It is widely used because it can print high-quality images with a simple configuration.
Among thermal transfer printers, sublimation thermal transfer recording printers that use sublimation dyes as color materials, so-called sublimation printers, have excellent halftone reproducibility and gradation, and transfer images with good document reproduction. Since it can be clearly expressed on an image receiving sheet, it is applied to color image printing of digital cameras, videos, computers and the like.
Conventionally, as a thermal transfer image receiving sheet used for a sublimation type printer, a sheet having high whiteness has been favored particularly for a photographic application in which a person or a landscape is a subject.
In recent years, thermal transfer image-receiving sheets have begun to be used as trading card applications for arcade games. Trading cards have a side that is favored by users, such as those having a flashy appearance, for example, having a characteristic image such as a high-intensity hologram pattern that changes its appearance by reflection of light. An ordinary thermal transfer image-receiving sheet can form an image excellent in whiteness, but cannot form a characteristic image as described above.
Thermal transfer image receiving sheets having hologram sheets have been proposed as thermal transfer image receiving sheets capable of forming images with excellent design and the like (Patent Documents 1 to 3).
As a trading card, a card with rigidity (rigidity) is preferred. If the card has insufficient waist, the card will be bent due to the influence of gravity when the card edge is held horizontally with a finger and the image will not look good. Moreover, the handling property as a card | curd also falls. For this reason, it is desired that the thermal transfer image receiving sheet used in the trading card has a waist.
However, in a thermal transfer image receiving sheet having a conventional hologram sheet, it has been difficult to achieve both the strength of the waist and the small density unevenness of the formed image.
The thermal transfer image-receiving sheets of
In general, a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet used for applications where high whiteness is preferred, in consideration of the transferability of sublimation dyes, a layer having voids or the like is disposed under the ink (dye) receiving layer, thereby sublimation dyes. Transfer quality and high image quality with little density unevenness.
However, a layer having voids or the like produces light refraction. Therefore, in a thermal transfer image receiving sheet having a hologram sheet, it is not preferable to dispose a layer having voids or the like under the ink receiving layer (on the ink receiving layer side of the hologram sheet) from the viewpoint of the visibility of the hologram pattern. Therefore, in
However, even if a hollow particle-containing layer is disposed between the base material and the hologram sheet, the density unevenness of the image cannot always be sufficiently suppressed. In particular, density unevenness was liable to occur when an image in the middle to low density range was formed or when the sheet was stiff.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object thereof is to provide a stiff thermal transfer image receiving sheet capable of forming an image with little density unevenness.

According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a stiff thermal transfer image receiving sheet capable of forming an image with little density unevenness.
Hereinafter, the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings showing embodiments.

(Base material)
The substrate 1 has a function of imparting waist (rigidity) to the thermal transfer
The substrate 1 is made of paper. As the paper, a paper containing natural pulp is preferable because it is easy to handle as well as plain paper in terms of good texture and strength, and has smoothness. Examples of paper containing natural pulp include high-quality paper, coated paper, art paper, cast-coated paper, glassine paper, resin-impregnated paper, and photographic printing paper base paper. Photographic paper base paper is particularly preferable because it has high water resistance and surface smoothness.
The thickness of the substrate 1 is 140 μm or more, preferably 145 μm or more, and particularly preferably 200 μm or more. If the thickness of the base material 1 is equal to or greater than the lower limit, the thermal transfer
The upper limit of the thickness of the substrate 1 is not particularly limited from the viewpoint of the thermal transfer
The density of the substrate 1 is 0.4 to 0.9 g / cm 3, preferably 0.6~0.9g / cm 3, particularly preferably 0.8 to 0.9 g / cm 3. If the density of the base material 1 is equal to or higher than the lower limit, the thermal transfer

Examples of binder resins include polyolefin resins (polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.), vinyl resins (halogenated resins such as polyvinyl chloride and polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl acetate, polyacrylate esters, copolymers thereof, etc.), polyester resins Examples thereof include resins (polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, etc.), polystyrene resins, polyamide resins, copolymers of olefins (ethylene, propylene, etc.) and other vinyl monomers, ionomers, cellulose derivatives and the like alone or as a mixture. . Among these, a halogenated resin and a vinyl chloride vinyl acetate copolymer resin are preferable because they are excellent in releasability from the thermal transfer sheet.
90 mass% or more is preferable with respect to the total mass of the
Examples of the release agent include silicone oil, phosphate ester plasticizer, and fluorine compound. Among these, silicone oil is preferable from the viewpoint of cost and long-term stability. The silicone oil may be a straight silicone oil or a modified silicone oil.
As for content of a mold release agent, 0.01-20 mass parts is preferable with respect to 100 mass parts of binder resin. If the amount is less than 0.01 parts by mass, a sufficient releasing effect cannot be exhibited, and there is a risk of heat fusion to the thermal transfer sheet during image formation. When it exceeds 20 parts by mass, there is a possibility that an excessive release agent may ooze out on the surface.
Examples of other components that may be contained as necessary include fluorescent brighteners, pigments, dyes, charge control agents, and other various additives.
For example, for the purpose of adjusting the color of the thermal transfer

(Non-foamed film layer)
The
The
Examples of the material constituting the non-foamed film include polyethylene, polymethylpentene, polystyrene, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polybutylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate, polyamide, polyimide, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, and ethylene. -Resins such as vinyl alcohol copolymer, polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate, polybutene-1, polyether ether ketone, polysulfone, polyether sulfone, polyether imide, polyphenylene sulfide, and the like. The resin constituting the non-foamed film may be one type or two or more types. Among these, PET is preferable in terms of transparency, heat resistance, and versatility.

(Adhesive layer)
The adhesive layer 4 is a layer that adheres the substrate 1 and the
The adhesive layer 4 only needs to be capable of adhering the base material 1 and the hologram layer 3 (deposition layer 32), and can be formed using various known adhesives.
The adhesive layer 4 usually contains a binder resin (adhesive component). Examples of the binder resin include polyurethane resins, α-olefin-maleic anhydride resin and other polyolefin resins, polyester resins, acrylic resins, epoxy resins, urea resins, melamine resins, phenol resins, and acetic acid. Examples thereof include vinyl resins and cyanoacrylate resins. Of these, polyurethane resins are preferred.
The binder resin may be cured (cross-linked) with a curing agent. It is preferable that the binder resin is cured since the adhesive force is improved and the heat resistance is also increased. For example, an isocyanate compound is generally used as the curing agent, but aliphatic amines, cycloaliphatic amines, aromatic amines, acid anhydrides, and the like can also be used.
The basis weight of the adhesive layer 4 is typically may be a 1 to 15 g / m 2, preferably 1.5~10g / m 2, 2~6g / m 2 is more preferable. When the basis weight of the adhesive layer 4 is less than the lower limit value, a part where the adhesive layer 4 and the base material 1 are bonded and a part where the adhesive layer 4 is not bonded are mixed (not a face bond but a point bond is likely to occur). The adhesion between the adhesive layer 4 and the substrate 1 may be insufficient. In addition, since the non-bonded portion is a gap, the heat transmission varies, the density unevenness is likely to occur, and the image quality may be deteriorated. If the basis weight of the adhesive layer 4 exceeds the upper limit, the cushioning effect of the base material 1 is not easily transmitted to the outermost surface of the

As mentioned above, although the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet of the present invention has been described with reference to the embodiment, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment. Each configuration in the above embodiment, a combination thereof, and the like are examples, and the addition, omission, replacement, and other modifications of the configuration can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
For example, the hologram layer is not limited to the above-described
The thermal transfer image-receiving sheet of the present invention may further include other layers than the above as necessary. For example, an antistatic layer or a grip mark alleviating layer may be provided between the ink receiving layer and the hologram layer.

Hereinafter, the present invention will be described more specifically with reference to examples and comparative examples. However, the present invention is not limited only to these examples.
The evaluation of the thermal transfer image receiving sheet used in each example described later is shown below.
(Uneven density)
Set the roll-shaped thermal transfer image-receiving sheet on a sublimation type thermal transfer printer (CP-T50D-KM, manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation), print a gradation image, and visually observe the low to medium density range where image unevenness is likely to occur. The density unevenness was determined according to the following criteria. Image unevenness refers to shading unevenness within each gradation.
A: No shading unevenness was observed in the low to medium concentration range.
○: The level of density unevenness could not be confirmed unless carefully observed.
Δ: Although there was slight shading unevenness, it was at a level where there was no practical problem.
X: The density unevenness was a remarkable level.
(Sheet rigidity)
The sheet rigidity of the thermal transfer image receiving sheet was evaluated by the following procedure. The sheet rigidity refers to the so-called stiffness of the sheet. For example, in a game card application, since the printed image is visually recognized by grasping the edge of the sheet, the sheet rigidity is an important characteristic.
The thermal transfer image-receiving sheet on which the gradation image is printed by the density unevenness evaluation is cut into a size of 86 mm × 58 mm. Hold for a minute. Thereafter, the state of bending (sagging) due to the weight of the sheet and the visibility of the printed image were visually observed, and the sheet rigidity (waist) was determined according to the following criteria.
A: The sheet was not bent at all, and the visibility of the image was good.
A: The sheet was slightly bent but the image visibility was good.
Δ: The sheet was bent, but practical visibility was secured.
X: The sheet was bent, and the visibility of the image was impaired by this bending.
(Comprehensive judgment)
Based on the determination results of the density unevenness and the sheet rigidity, a comprehensive determination of the performance of the thermal transfer image receiving sheet was performed according to the criteria shown in Table 1.
<実施例1>
<Example 1>
A thermal transfer image receiving sheet having the structure shown in FIG. 4 was produced by the following procedure.
With the formulation shown in Table 2, an ink-receiving layer-forming coating material and an adhesive layer-forming coating material were prepared. As the hologram layer, a hologram sheet (PET hologram film 23 μm, manufactured by K-Laser Technology Japan Co., Ltd.) in which a hologram forming layer and a vapor deposition layer were sequentially laminated on one side of a non-foamed film (PET film) was used. As the substrate, paper having a thickness of 140 μm and a density of 0.88 g / m 3 was used. As the plastic film layer, a non-foamed biaxially stretched polypropylene film (OPP film) having a thickness of 20 μm (
The ink receiving layer-forming coating material was coated on the surface of the hologram layer on the non-foamed film side with a wire bar so that the coating thickness after drying was 2.5 g / m 2 and dried to form an ink receiving layer. Next, the adhesive layer forming coating is dried on the surface of the hologram layer on the vapor deposition layer side with a wire bar so that the coating thickness is 5 g / m 2 , the substrate is bonded, and then dried. A laminate was obtained. Separately, on the plastic film layer, the adhesive layer-forming paint is dried with a wire bar and coated so that the coating thickness is 5 g / m 2, and the substrate surface of the laminate is bonded, and then dried. Thus, a thermal transfer image receiving sheet of Example 1 was obtained. The obtained thermal transfer image receiving sheet was wound up on a roll.

<Examples 2-9, Comparative Examples 1-3>
A thermal transfer image-receiving sheet was obtained in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the base material was changed to paper having the thickness and density shown in Table 3.
The paper used in each example was produced by producing a hand-made sheet with a sheet machine paper machine and adjusting the density with a press machine and a super calendar.
<実施例10〜16>
<Examples 10 to 16>
A thermal transfer image-receiving sheet was obtained in the same manner as in Example 2 except that a hologram sheet having a Gurley stiffness of the non-foamed film as shown in Table 3 was used for the hologram layer (both manufactured by K-Laser Technology Japan). It was.
The Gurley stiffness of the non-foamed film was adjusted by the thickness of the non-foamed film.
<実施例17〜22>
<Examples 17 to 22>
A thermal transfer image receiving sheet was obtained in the same manner as in Example 2 except that the basis weight of the adhesive layer was changed to the values shown in Table 3.
For the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet obtained in each example, Table 3 also shows the density unevenness, sheet rigidity, and comprehensive determination results.
In the thermal transfer image receiving sheets of Examples 1 to 22, an image with little density unevenness could be formed, and the sheet rigidity (waist) was sufficiently strong.
On the other hand, the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet of Comparative Example 1 having a substrate thickness of less than 140 μm and Comparative Example 2 having a substrate density of less than 0.4 g / cm 3 was inferior in sheet rigidity (waist). In the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet of Comparative Example 3 in which the density of the base material exceeded 0.9 g / cm 3 , remarkable density unevenness was observed in the formed image.
