Claims (22)
- 粒子ビーム・デバイスを用いて、ポリマー材料を選択的に架橋する方法であって、
架橋部分を生成するために充分な期間の粒子ビームで前記ポリマー材料の部分を選択的に処理するステップを含み、
前記ポリマー材料における前記処理の結果が、約20%ないし約100%の平均架橋密度であり、
前記ポリマー材料は、実質的に、同一の化学組成と、より高い架橋密度を有するポリマー材料と同じ特性を有する、方法。 - 前記粒子ビーム・デバイスは、少なくとも1つのフィラメントを備える、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 約150KV以上の動作電圧が、複数の粒子をつくるために、フィラメントに印加される、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記複数の粒子は、約12.5ミクロンの厚さを有する薄箔を突き通る、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料は、約3メガラド(Mrads)ないし約12メガラド(Mrads)の線量で処理される、請求項1ないし4のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 複数の粒子が、前記ポリマー材料の前記部分に総厚みの約50%の深さまで浸透する、請求項1ないし5のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記部分は、前記ポリマー材料の単一の表面を含む、請求項1ないし6のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記部分は、前記ポリマー材料の2つの単一の表面を含む、請求項1ないし7のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料の前記部分は、単一の表面の中心部分を含む、請求項1ないし8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料の端部は、未処置のままにされる、請求項1ないし9のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 動作電圧が、約150kVないし約300kVの範囲にある、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記薄箔は、チタン箔である、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料の総厚みは、約100g/m2ないし200g/m2の範囲にある、請求項1ないし12のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料の総厚みは、約135g/m2ないし約155g/m2の範囲にある、請求項1ないし13のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料は、多官能基アクリル酸エステル、多官能基メタクリル酸エステル、ポリブタジエン、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、および、それらの混合物から選択される、請求項1ないし14のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料は、エラストマー材料を更に含む、請求項1ないし15のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記エラストマー材料は、天然ゴムあるいは合成ゴム、または、それらの混合物から選択される、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料は、エチレン・プロピレン・ジエン・モノマー(EPDM)、天然ゴム混入ポリエチレン、合成ゴム混入ポリエチレン、天然ゴム混入ポリプロピレン、合成ゴム混入ポリプロピレンから選択される、請求項1ないし15のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料は、熱可塑性ポリオレフィン・ルーフィング膜である、請求項1ないし18のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料の平均架橋密度は、約30%ないし約80%である、請求項1ないし19のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー材料の平均架橋密度は、約40%を超えている、請求項1ないし20のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 請求項1ないし21のいずれか1項に記載の方法により製造された製品。
