Abstract
Description

Claims (15)
- ワイドアレイ・プリントヘッド・モジュールであって、
複数のプリントヘッド・ダイを含み、前記プリントヘッド・ダイの各々が、
印刷媒体上にインクを噴射するための複数のノズルであって、複数のプリミティブを形成している複数のノズルと、
前記ノズルの各々に結合されたノズル噴射ヒーターと、
前記プリミティブに関連する前記ノズルの各々について前記ノズル噴射ヒーターを駆動する複数の駆動パルスを制御するための1つの特定用途向け集積回路(ASIC)と
を含み、
前記プリミティブの各々の間において、前記駆動パルスが内部遅延、及び外部遅延により遅延され、前記プリントヘッド・ダイの最大電力需要を低減し、
前記ASICが、各プリントヘッド・ダイ内における前記内部遅延を較正する、ワイドアレイ・プリントヘッド・モジュール。 - 前記内部遅延は、前記プリントヘッド・ダイのアナログ要素、またはデジタル要素によって制御され、前記外部遅延は、前記ASICによってデジタル制御される、請求項1に記載のワイドアレイ・プリントヘッド・モジュール。
- 前記駆動パルスの長さは、ノズルの数、プリミティブの数、印刷要求、またはそれらの組み合わせに基づいている、請求項1に記載のワイドアレイ・プリントヘッド・モジュール。
- 前記駆動パルスは、複数の前記駆動パルスを含むパルス列を含み、前記駆動パルスの合計によって総駆動エネルギーが形成される、請求項3に記載のワイドアレイ・プリントヘッド・モジュール。

複数のプリントヘッド・ダイと、
遅延回路を使用して、各プリントヘッド・ダイ内の複数の内部遅延を較正し、複数のノズルの各々について複数のノズル噴射ヒーターを駆動する駆動パルスを制御するための特定用途向け集積回路(ASIC)であって、前記ノズルが、複数のプリミティブに関連しており、前記プリミティブが、種々のノズル群として定義されている、特定用途向け修正回路(ASIC)と
を含むワイドアレイ・プリントヘッド・モジュールを含み、
前記駆動パルスが、前記プリミティブの各々の間において、前記内部遅延、及び複数の外部遅延により遅延され、プリントヘッド・ダイの最大電力需要を低減する、印刷装置。 - 前記内部遅延は、前記プリントヘッド・ダイのアナログ要素によって制御され、前記外部遅延は、前記ASICによってデジタル制御される、請求項6に記載の印刷装置。
- 前記駆動パルスの長さは、ノズルの数、プリミティブの数、印刷要求、またはそれらの組み合わせに基づいている、請求項6に記載の印刷装置。
- 前記駆動パルスは、複数の前駆パルス、及び複数の駆動パルスを含み、前記駆動パルスは、前記ノズル噴射ヒーターを駆動して前記インクを温め、前記駆動パルスは、前記ノズル噴射ヒーターを駆動して前記インクを沸騰させる、請求項6に記載の印刷装置。

- ワイドアレイ・プリントヘッド・モジュールの最大電力需要を低減する方法であって、特定用途向け集積回路(ASIC)を使用して、
第1の駆動パルスを生成する前にプリントヘッド・ダイの第1のプリミティブ遅延を決定し、
前記プリントヘッド・ダイのプリミティブについて前記第1の駆動パルスを生成し、前記プリミティブが、前記プリントヘッド・ダイの中に画定された複数のノズルに関連しており、
前記第1の駆動パルスにより、前記プリミティブ遅延に基づいて、前記プリミティブに関連する前記ノズルの各々に結合された複数のノズル噴射ヒーターを駆動し、
次の駆動パルスを生成する前に後続のプリミティブ遅延を決定し、
前記後続のプリミティブ遅延に基づいて、前記プリントヘッド・ダイの次のプリミティブについて前記次の駆動パルスを生成すること
を含む方法。 - 前記第1の駆動パルス、及び前記次の駆動パルスの長さは、ノズルの数、プリミティブの数、印刷要求、またはそれらの組み合わせに基づいている、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記遅延は、前記プリントヘッド・ダイのアナログ要素の内部遅延、及び前記ASICにより制御される外部遅延に基づいており、前記外部遅延は、前記複数のプリントヘッド・ダイの間におけるインクの噴射間における遅延として定義される、請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記次の駆動パルスについての前記遅延は、
同時過渡電流を最小限に抑え、及び
電源ライン上のリンギングを最小限に抑えること
によって、当該遅延により前記プリントヘッド・ダイの前記最大電力需要が低減されるような形で、時間的に歪まされている、請求項11に記載の方法。 - 前記第1の駆動パルス、及び次の駆動パルスは、単一の電圧パルス、または複数の電圧パルスを含む、請求項11に記載の方法。
