(2)塩基性溶液、および任意に、少なくとも一種のドーパントを、アルミニウム塩溶液(1)に添加するステップ、
(3)得られたゲルを乾燥し、続いて焼成して、Al2O3フレークおよびアルカリ塩を溶融塩中に得るステップ、
(4)ステップ(3)で得られた焼成溶融塩の水溶性部分を除去するステップ。
入手容易性および低価格の観点から、炭酸ナトリウムおよび炭酸カリウムがより好ましく、炭酸ナトリウムが特に好ましい。
D80が20μm未満、好ましくは18μm未満である。

脱イオン水450mlに、60℃より高温に加熱しつつ、硫酸アルミニウム18-水和物111.9gを溶解する。得られる溶液を水溶液(a)と表す。
脱イオン水150mlに、炭酸ナトリウム55.0gを溶解する。得られる溶液を水溶液(b)と表す。
約60℃に保たれた水溶液(a)に、水溶液(b)を撹拌下に加える。撹拌を15分間続ける。得られる二つの溶液の混合物はゲルである。ゲルを蒸発させて乾燥し、乾燥産物を1200℃で5時間加熱する。加熱産物に水を加えて、遊離硫酸塩を溶解させる。不溶固形物を濾去し、水洗し、最後に乾燥する。得られるアルミナフレークを、X線回折法により試験する。回折パターンは、コランダム構造(α-アルミナ構造)に起因するピークのみを有する。
D50は11.3mmであり、D80は16.2mmである。MIU値は、KES摩擦試験機で測定して0.55である。
実施例1の水溶液(a)に、硫酸ナトリウム3.6gを加える。得られるアルミナフレークを、X線回折法により試験する。回折パターンは、コランダム構造(α-アルミナ構造)に起因するピークのみを有する。
D50は12.3mmであり、D80は17.0mmである。MIU値は、KES摩擦試験機で測定して0.59である。
実施例1の水溶液(a)に、硫酸ナトリウム11.9gを加える。得られるアルミナフレークを、X線回折法により試験する。回折パターンは、コランダム構造(α-アルミナ構造)に起因するピークのみを有する。
D50は12.9mmであり、D80は17.8mmである。MIU値は、KES摩擦試験機で測定して0.70である。
実施例1の水溶液(a)に、硫酸チタニルの3.44%溶液0.50gを加える。得られるアルミナフレークを、X線回折法により試験する。回折パターンは、コランダム構造(α-アルミナ構造)に起因するピークのみを有する。
Malvern MS 2000で測定して、D50は11.5mmであり、D80は15.8mmである。MIU値は、KES摩擦試験機で測定して0.56である。
脱イオン水300mlに、60℃より高温に加熱しつつ、硫酸アルミニウム18-水和物111.9g、無水硫酸ナトリウム57.3gおよび硫酸カリウム46.9gを溶解する。得られる溶液に、硫酸亜鉛の35.0%溶液4.06gを加える。得られる溶液を水溶液(a)と表す。
脱イオン水150mlに、第三リン酸ナトリウム12-水和物0.45gおよび炭酸ナトリウム55.0gを溶解する。得られる溶液を水溶液(b)と表す。
約60℃に保たれた水溶液(a)に、水溶液(b)を撹拌下に加える。撹拌を15分間続ける。得られる二つの溶液の混合物はゲルである。ゲルを蒸発させて乾燥し、乾燥産物を1200℃で5時間加熱する。加熱産物に水を加えて、遊離硫酸塩を溶解させる。不溶固形物を濾去し、水洗し、最後に乾燥する。得られるアルミナフレークを、X線回折法により試験する。回折パターンは、コランダム構造(α-アルミナ構造)に起因するピークのみを有する。
D50は22.3mmであり、D80は35.0mmである。MIU値は、KES摩擦試験機で測定して1.00である。
(粒径D50およびD80の評価)
前記(比較)実施例のアルミナフレークのD50およびD80を、Malvern MS2000を用いて評価する。
MIU値は、KES摩擦試験機(カトーテック株式会社製、KES-SE-DC-テスター)を用いて評価する。
0.01g/lのアルミナフレークスラリーを調製し、このスラリー0.1mlを、シリコンウエハのような平坦基材の上に滴下する。基材を乾燥し、適当な寸法に切断する。この基材を、SEM(走査型電子顕微鏡)の土台の上にほとんど垂直の角度で設置し、そのアルミナフレークの厚さを決める。

Claims (20)
- (1)少なくとも一種の硫酸塩化合物を任意に含む、少なくとも一種の水溶性および/または不溶性アルミニウム塩の水溶液を調製するステップ、
(2)塩基性溶液、および任意に、少なくとも一種のドーパントを、アルミニウム塩溶液(1)に添加するステップ、
(3)得られたゲルを乾燥し、続いて焼成して、Al2O3フレークおよびアルカリ塩を溶融塩中に得るステップ、
(4)ステップ(3)で得られた焼成溶融塩の水溶性部分を除去するステップ
を含むプロセスにより調製されたAl2O3フレーク。 - 前記硫酸塩化合物がアルカリ金属硫酸塩である、請求項1に記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 前記硫酸塩化合物が、硫酸ナトリウム、硫酸カリウム、硫酸リチウムおよびそれらの組み合わせから選択される、請求項1または2に記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 前記塩基性溶液が、アンモニア、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、炭酸ナトリウム、炭酸カリウムおよびそれらの組み合わせから選択される、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 前記ドーパントが、TiO2、ZrO2、SiO2、SnO2、In2O3、ZnOおよびそれらの組み合わせから選択される、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 前記ドーパントの量が、Al2O3フレークを基準にして0.01〜5重量%である、請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 前記ドーパントが、TiO2、SnO2またはZnOである、請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- Al2O3に対する前記硫酸塩化合物の合計モル比がステップ(2)の後に1〜3.5である、請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 焼成温度が900〜1400℃である、請求項1〜8のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- D50-値が5〜15μmでありD80-値が20μm未満である、請求項1〜9のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 粒子の厚さが500nm以下である、請求項1〜10のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 前記Al2O3フレークがα-アルミナフレークである、請求項1〜11のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- MIU値(KES摩擦試験機により測定されたMIU値)が0.8未満である、請求項1〜12のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 前記フレークが一種または二種以上の金属酸化物で被覆されている、請求項1〜13のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク。
- 前記フレークが以下の層配列により被覆されている、請求項1〜14のいずれかに記載のAl2O3フレーク:

- 水、ポリオール、極性および無極性油、脂肪、ワックス、塗膜形成要素、ポリマー、コポリマー、界面活性剤、フリーラジカルスカベンジャー、酸化防止剤、安定化剤、香気向上剤、シリコーン油、乳化剤、溶媒、防腐剤、増粘剤、レオロジー添加剤、香料、着色剤、効果顔料、UV吸収剤、界面活性助剤および/または化粧活性化合物、充填剤、バインダー、真珠光沢顔料、着色顔料および有機染料からなる群より選択される少なくとも一種の成分を含むことを特徴とする、請求項19に記載のAl2O3フレークを含む組成物。
