Abstract
Description
傾斜面(CS)の傾斜角度が約4度の場合を例にとると、水平視準光20の内、水平方向に入射する水平光(a)は、傾斜面(CS)によって、約3回程度反射され、74度の入射角(あるいは屈折角)を有し光視準素子(WLC)の外部に放出される。一方、水平視準光20の中で放射角を有する拡散光(b)は、1回〜2回程度反射されて66度以上の入射角(あるいは屈折角)を有し、光視準素子(WLC)の外部に放出される。
Claims (11)
- 一側辺に設けられた光入射部と、前記光入射部の反対側にある他側辺に向けて延びる光伝達部と、一表面上に設けられた光出射部を備える導光フィルムと、
前記光出射部の上に配置された出光素子と、
前記光入射部に隣接して配置された第1光源と、
前記第1光源と対向するように前記光入射部の上に配置され、前記第1光源からの拡散光の入射を受け視準光に転換して前記光入射部に提供する光視準素子を含むバックライトユニット。 - 前記導光フィルムは、前記光視準素子の屈折率と同じか、小さい屈折率を有する超薄型フィルムである、請求項1に記載のバックライトユニット。
- 前記光視準素子は、
前記第1光源と隣接して配置され、前記第1光源から入射された光を水平平面に視準する水平テーパ部と、
前記水平テーパ部から延び、前記第1光源から入射された光を垂直平面に視準する垂直ウェッジ部を含む、請求項1に記載のバックライトユニット。 - 前記光視準素子の前記水平テーパ部と前記垂直ウェッジ部の全体が、前記光視準素子より屈折率が低い接着層で、前記導光フィルムに接着され、
前記導光フィルムの前記光入射部と反対側の表面に、前記水平テーパ部と対向するように配置された光吸収体をさらに含む、請求項3に記載のバックライトユニット。 - 前記光視準素子の
前記垂直ウェッジ部が前記光視準素子の屈折率より低い屈折率を有する接着層で、前記導光フィルムに接着され、
前記水平テーパ部は、前記導光フィルムの上に重ねられない、請求項3に記載のバックライトユニット。 - 前記水平テーパ部は、
前記第1光源と隣接し、前記第1光源の大きさに対応する高さと幅を備えた光入射面と、
前記光入射面から一方向に一定距離を持つように延び、一定の放射角を有する上面部と下面部と、
前記入射面から前記一定距離を持つように延び、高さが均一である両側面部を含み、
前記垂直ウェッジ部は、
前記水平テーパ部から前記一方向に延び、高さが線形的に減少するように、前記垂直ウェッジ部の上面部および下面部は斜面を有する、請求項3に記載のバックライトユニット。 - 前記水平テーパ部は、前記一方向に対して垂直な前記垂直ウェッジ部の側辺に沿って、複数個が連続して配置され、
前記第1光源は、複数の前記光入射面のそれぞれに一つずつ配置された複数個ある、請求項6に記載のバックライトユニット。 - 前記光視準素子は、前記視準光の入射角を前記導光フィルムと空気層との間での全反射臨界角より大きく、前記導光フィルムと前記出光素子間での全反射臨界角よりは小さな角度に調節して提供する、請求項1に記載のバックライトユニット。
- 前記光伝達部は、前記光入射部から前記他側辺に伝達する間に、
一表面で反対側の面に向けて前記視準光を全反射し、
前記反対側の面で前記視準光の一部を、前記導光フィルムの外部に放出されるように、前記出光素子に向けて回折させ、
前記反対側の面で残りの視準光を前記一表面に向けて反射する、請求項1に記載のバックライトユニット。 - 前記光視準素子の隣に配置された光カップリング素子と、
前記光カップリング素子と対向し、前記第1光源の隣に配置された第2光源をさらに含む、請求項1に記載のバックライトユニット。 - 前記光視準素子の複数の前記水平テーパ部の間のスペースに配置された複数の反射素子と、
複数の前記反射素子に隣接して配置された複数の第2光源をさらに含む、請求項3に記載のバックライトユニット。
