Abstract
Description
(a)ヒールを形成するステップであって、前記ヒールは、水、SiO2のNa2OまたはK2Oに対するモル比が約1:1を超え且つ約15:1未満であるアルカリ金属のケイ酸塩;酸(および/または対応するそれらの塩)を含有し、前記ヒールは少なくとも10のpHを有し、アルカリ金属のケイ酸塩および酸は、初期には少なくとも63:1の重量比で存在し、ヒールの温度は、100度F未満であるステップ;

Claims (14)
- コロイドシリカの性能を改善するための方法であって、
コロイドシリカを用意するステップと、
不純物粒子を前記コロイドシリカから分離するステップであり、前記分離は、不純物粒子と分散相粒子上のシラノール基との間の相互作用を引き起こす架橋が弱まる程度まで実施するが、シラノール基間の相互作用を引き起こす架橋が強まる程度までは実施せず、前記分離により、S−値または前記コロイドの安定性を損なわずに、前記コロイドの前記分散相粒子の粒子サイズが少なくとも5%増大されるステップと
を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記コロイドが製紙系に適用され、その適用において、前記分離を経ていない同様なコロイドと少なくとも同様に効果的であることを特徴とする方法。

- 請求項5に記載の方法であって、前記希釈の速度が、前記荷電粒子がコロイドの小滴から解離する正味速度以下の正味速度で、前記濾過プロセス中に流体がフィルタを通過するような速度であることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項5に記載の方法であって、前記プロセスが、前記コロイドの希釈とそれに続く濾過との繰り返しを含み、前記希釈が固形分%を前記プロセスの開始時に存在した固形分%の30から80%減少させることにより特徴づけられ、前記濾過が、最終の濾過ステップを除いて、固形分%を前記プロセスの開始時に存在した固形分%の10〜60%以内に戻すことを含むことを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項9に記載の方法であって、流体が前記フィルタを通過する前記速度が遅くなるまで希釈を始めないことを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記コロイドが、保持および濾水プログラムの一部として製紙プロセスに適用され、ポリマー凝集剤および/またはカチオン性デンプンと一緒に、凝固剤を添加してまたは添加せずに使用され、前記分離を経ていない同様なコロイドと比較して有効性の損失または望ましくない副作用がないことを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記不純物粒子が除去された程度を、前記コロイドの電導度の変化の測定値と相関させることにより測定することを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項12に記載の方法であって、不純物粒子の前記分離を、前記コロイド系が4000μS/cmから7000μS/cmの間の電導度を有するまで続けることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記不純物粒子が少なくとも一部は荷電粒子であることを特徴とする方法。
