Abstract
Description
本出願は、2013年1月17日出願の米国特許出願第13/743,443に基づく優先権を主張し、その全体を本明細書に参照によって援用する。
眼部装着可能型デバイスは、眼部装着可能型デバイスを装着したユーザの眼から検出された少なくとも1つの分析物に基づいた健康関連情報を監視するように構成され得る。このような眼部装着可能型デバイスは、少なくとも一つの分析物(例えば、グルコース)を検出するセンサ装置を含み得る。たとえば、眼部装着可能型デバイスは、少なくとも一つの分析物を検出するように構成されたセンサ装置を含むコンタクトレンズの形態であってもよい。センサ装置は、ユーザのグルコースレベルといった、眼部装着可能型デバイスのユーザの健康に関する情報を監視し得る。さらに、センサ装置は、様々な他の種類の健康関連情報を監視し得る。
本出願は、眼部装着可能型デバイスにおける環状構造の位置決めの方法に関する実施形態を開示する。1つの態様において、本出願は、1つの方法を記載する。この方法は、第1の量の重合性材料を環状構造に塗布することを含んでもよく、環状構造は分析物を検出するように構成された少なくとも1つのセンサを備えてもよい。この方法はまた、第1の量の重合性材料が塗布された環状構造を金型に位置決めすることを含み、金型は眼部装着可能型デバイスを形成するように構成される。この方法はまた、第1の量の重合性材料を硬化させながら、金型内の環状構造に圧力を印加することを含んでもよい。この方法はさらに、中に環状構造を有する金型に第2の量の重合性材料を加えることと、環状構造が少なくとも部分的に眼部装着可能型デバイスに封入されるようにオーバーモールドされたポリマー層を形成するために、第2の量の重合性材料を硬化させることとを含んでもよい。

眼部装着可能型デバイス(例えば、コンタクトレンズ)は、眼部装着可能型デバイスを装着したユーザの眼から検出された少なくとも1つの分析物に基づいて、グルコースレベルまたは角膜の酸素濃度といった健康関連情報を監視するように構成されてもよい。このような眼部装着可能型デバイスは、少なくとも一つの分析物を検出するように構成された少なくとも1つのセンサを備える環状構造を含んでいてもよい。本発明は、環状構造を所望の位置に位置決めし、環状構造に圧力を適用して環状構造または環状構造の一部を眼部装着可能型デバイスの金型または予め形成されたポリマー層に固定するための方法を記載する。
図1は、例示的実施形態による、眼部装着可能型デバイスに環状構造を位置決めする方法100を示すフローチャートである。方法100は、ブロック102から108のうちの1つまたは複数によって示される1つまたは複数の操作、機能、または動作を含んでもよい。ブロックが順に示されているが、これらのブロックは、いくつかの例では並列に、および/または本明細書に記載のものとは異なる順序で実行されてもよい。また、各ブロックは、より少数のブロックに合わせたり、追加のブロックに分割したり、および/または所望の実装に基づいて除去してもよい。
上述したように、眼部装着可能型デバイスは、上記の例示的な方法を用いて製造することができる。さらに、この眼部装着可能型デバイスは、眼部装着可能型デバイスを装着したユーザの眼から検出された少なくとも1つの分析物に基づいて、健康関連の情報を監視するように構成し得る。ユーザの目から検出された少なくとも1つの分析物に基づいて健康関連の情報を監視するように構成された眼部装着可能型デバイスの例は、図4および図5A〜5Dを参照して以下に詳細に説明する。
Claims (20)
- 少なくとも1つのセンサーを含む環状構造に第1の量の重合性材料を塗布することと、
前記第1の量の重合性材料が塗布された前記環状構造を、眼部装着可能型デバイスを形成するように構成された金型に位置決めすることと、
前記第1の量の重合性材料を硬化させながら、前記金型内の前記環状構造に圧力を印加することと、
中に前記環状構造を有する前記金型に第2の量の重合性材料を加えることと、
前記環状構造が少なくとも部分的に前記眼部装着可能型デバイスに封入されるようにオーバーモールドされたポリマー層を形成するために、前記第2の量の重合性材料を硬化させることとを備える、方法。 - 前記第1の量の重合性材料が塗布された前記環状構造を前記金型に位置決めすることは、前記第1の量の重合性材料が塗布された前記環状構造を前記金型内の予め形成されたポリマー層上に位置決めすることを備える、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記予め形成されたポリマー層は、前記眼部装着可能型デバイスの前方側を規定し、前記オーバーモールドされたポリマー層は、前記眼部装着可能型デバイスの後方側を規定する、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記予め形成されたポリマー層は、部分的に硬化した状態である、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記予め形成されたポリマー層及びオーバーモールドされたポリマー層は、透明材料を備える、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の量の重合性材料を前記環状構造に塗布することは、前記環状構造の1つ以上の別個の位置に前記重合性材料を配置することを備え、前記環状構造に圧力を印加することは、前記1つ以上の別個の位置に圧力を印加することを備える、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記環状構造に圧力を印加することは、前記環状構造全体に圧力を印加することを備える、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記環状構造に圧力を印加することは、コンプライアント材料を備えるプランジャを介して圧力を印加することを備える、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記オーバーモールドされたポリマー層は、ヒドロゲル材料又はシリコーンエラストマーを備える、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1つのセンサーを備える環状構造に第1の量の重合性材料を塗布することと、
前記第1の量の重合性材料が塗布された前記環状構造を、眼部装着可能型デバイスを形成するように構成された金型内の予め形成されたポリマー層上に位置決めすることと、
弾性材を備えるプランジャを介して、前記金型内の前記環状構造へ圧力を印加することと、
中に前記環状構造を有する前記金型に第2の量の重合性材料を加え、前記環状構造が前記眼部装着可能型デバイス内に完全に封入されるようにオーバーモールドされたポリマー層を形成するために、前記第2の量の重合性材料を硬化させることとを備える、方法。 - 前記予め形成されたポリマー層は、前記眼部装着可能型デバイスの前方側を規定し、前記オーバーモールドされたポリマー層は、前記眼部装着可能型デバイスの後方側を規定する、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記眼部装着可能型デバイスの前方側は、センサによって検出されるべき分析物がその中を通って拡散することを可能にするように構成されている、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記予め形成されたポリマー層は、部分的に硬化した状態である、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記予め形成されたポリマー層及びオーバーモールドされたポリマー層は、透明材料を備える、請求項10に記載の方法。

- 前記環状構造に圧力を印加することは、前記環状構造全体に圧力を印加することを備える、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記環状構造に圧力を印加することは、前記第1の量の重合性材料を硬化しながら前記環状構造に圧力を印加することを備える、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1つのセンサーを含む環状構造に、ある量の接着材を塗布することと、
前記ある量の接着材が塗布された前記環状構造を、眼部装着可能型デバイスを形成するように構成された金型に位置決めすることと、
前記ある量の接着材を硬化させながら、前記金型内の前記環状構造に圧力を印加することと、
中に前記環状構造を有する前記金型にそれぞれの量の重合性材料を加えることと、
前記環状構造が少なくとも部分的に前記眼部装着可能型デバイスに封入されるようにオーバーモールドされたポリマー層を形成するために、前記それぞれの量の重合性材料を硬化することと、を備える方法。 - 前記接着材が熱硬化性ポリマーを備える、請求項19に記載の方法。
