Claims (21)
- 少なくとも一つの下板単位電極を含む下板電極と、
前記少なくとも一つの下板単位電極と対向する少なくとも一つの上板単位電極を含む上板電極と、
前記下板電極と前記上板電極との間に位置して、前記下板電極及び前記上板電極の表面にほぼ垂直に配向された複数の液晶を含む液晶層と、
を含み、
前記下板単位電極は、中央に位置する中央電極、前記中央電極の中心に位置する第1切開部、及び前記中央電極の周縁辺から外側に延在する複数の微細枝部を含み、
前記上板単位電極は、前記微細枝部と前記第1切開部との間に位置する第2切開部、及び前記第2切開部と接続されて、前記第1切開部と共に複数の副領域間の境界を形成する第3切開部を含む、液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1切開部は、十字状切開部と、前記十字状切開部の中心に位置する中心切開部と、を含む、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記中心切開部は、前記複数の副領域にそれぞれ位置する直線辺と、前記十字状切開部と接続される頂点と、を含む多角形である、請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記十字状切開部と前記第3切開部は同一の方向に延在する、請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記中心切開部と前記第2切開部との距離は15μm乃至30μmである、請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2切開部と前記微細枝部との距離は15μm乃至30μmである、請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数の微細枝部は、互いに異なる副領域で互いに異なる方向に延在する、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2切開部は、前記複数の副領域にそれぞれ位置する直線切開部と、前記第3切開部上に位置する頂点と、を含む多角形である、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2切開部は前記第1切開部を取り囲む、請求項8に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1切開部は前記第2切開部の頂点で一部重なる、請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記微細枝部の最大長さは30μmである、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記副領域は、前記第1切開部及び前記第2切開部によって取り囲まれた第1分割領域と、前記第2切開部及び前記微細枝部によって取り囲まれた第2分割領域と、前記微細枝部で形成される第3分割領域と、を含む、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2切開部は、前記第1分割領域と前記第2分割領域を接続するパターン部をさらに含む、請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記パターン部の幅は、前記第2切開部の幅より小さく形成される、請求項13に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記パターン部は、副領域それぞれに位置する前記第2切開部に一つ以上形成される、請求項13に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1切開部は、前記十字状切開部及び中心切開部から延在する中央微細切開部をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記中央微細切開部は、互いに異なる前記副領域で互いに異なる方向に延在する、請求項16に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 一画素は、一つの入力映像信号に対して互いに同じか、または異なる輝度を表示できる第1副画素及び第2副画素を含み、
前記第1副画素及び前記第2副画素それぞれは、前記下板電極及び前記上板電極からなる単位電極を含み、
前記第2副画素が含む前記少なくとも一つの単位電極の数は、前記第1副画素が含む前記少なくとも一つの単位電極の数より多いか、または同じである、請求項17に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1副画素と前記第2副画素に含まれる単位電極の面積は互いに異なるように形成されており、
面積の大きい下板単位電極には前記中央微細切開部を備える、請求項18に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1副画素と前記第2副画素に含まれる単位電極の面積は全て同一に形成されており、
前記下板単位電極それぞれに中央微細切開部を備える、請求項18に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1副画素と前記第2副画素に含まれる下板単位電極の面積は全て同一に形成されており、
前記下板単位電極それぞれに中央微細切開部を備えない、請求項18に記載の液晶表示装置。
