Abstract
Description
表1Aは、以下の実施例で使用した2種類のXerox製の実験用スチレンアクリル酸n−ブチルラテックス(Xerox製の実験用ラテックス−LおよびXerox製の実験用ラテックス−Hとラベルが付けられている)および数種類の市販ラテックスを示す。これらのラテックスは、選択した保水剤、例えば、グリセロールまたはソルビトールと相溶性であり、フッ素化ブランケット表面に均一で安定な膜を生成した。
bCEA−β−カルボキシアクリル酸エチル。
ADOD−長鎖疎水性クロスリンカーであるデカン−1,10−ジイルジアクリレート。
DDT#1、DDT#2−それぞれ、モノマー供給物1番およびモノマー供給物2番の1−ドデカンチオールの量。
DOWFAX(登録商標)−ミッドランド、ミシガンのDow Chemical Companyから入手可能なアニオン系アルキルジフェニル酸化物ジスルホネート界面活性剤。
APS−過硫酸アンモニウム。
実施例2A:以下のように、Xerox製の実験用ラテックスを用いて犠牲コーティング組成物を調製した。
犠牲コーティング溶液を、Pamarcoアニロックスロール165Q13を用い、手動でブランケット基材にコーティングした。この基材は、フッ素化ポリマー(Daikin Industries,Ltd.製のG621)およびクロスリンカーAO700(Gelest製のアミノエチルアミノプロピルトリメトキシシラン)から製造された。基材温度を約40〜50℃にしつつ、ホットプレートを65℃に設定した。濡れた膜の厚みは、約4〜5ミクロンであり、乾燥した膜の厚みは、約200nm〜2ミクロンであった。コーティングされた膜を60℃の乾燥器で30秒間乾燥させた。
犠牲コーティングの上で良好な濡れ性および広がり性を有するインクを製造するために、犠牲コーティング溶液を用いて連続した均一な膜を達成することが望ましい。光学顕微鏡画像は、実施例3と同様に、フッ素化ポリマーから作られる基材でコーティングされた膜(AO700で架橋したG621)の上で撮影した。
犠牲コーティングの上に生成するインク液滴によって、インクの濡れ性を特性決定した。インクの接触角度および広がり性を、Fibro DAT1100装置を用いて捕捉した。犠牲コーティング配合物間の差を示すために、実験室での実験用インクを適用した。インク液滴の粒径を0.5μlに制御した。実験室での実験用インクのスキン面上での広がりは速すぎ、ほとんどのサンプルで接触角を捕捉することができないため、液滴の画像のみをここに示す。
接触角測定のための実験用インクと同じインクを転写試験に使用した。このインクをエアブラシによって、コーティングされたブランケットに噴霧した。転写条件は、320°F、50psiおよび滞留時間5秒であった。インクをブランケットから120gsm Digital Color Elite Gloss紙に転写した。
1.99グラムのDOWFAX(登録商標)2A1(アニオン系アルキルジフェニルオキシドジスルホネート)および285.43グラムの脱イオン水の界面活性剤溶液を、ステンレス保持タンク中、10分間混合することによって調製した。次いで、この混合物を反応器に移す前に、保持タンクに窒素を5分間パージした。次いで、450RPMで攪拌しつつ、反応器に窒素を連続してパージした。次いで、反応器を制御した速度で80℃まで加熱した。別個に、4.38グラムの過硫酸アンモニウム開始剤を45.54グラムの脱イオン水に溶解した。
