Abstract
Description
図1は、本発明の実施の形態1による液晶表示装置における各画素の構成の一例を示す図である。なお、図1は、RGBW画素を1絵素(基本単位)とした画素構造で液晶を制御する液晶表示装置について示している。また、当該液晶表示装置は、フリンジ電界によって液晶の配向を変えるFFSモードで駆動する。
図7は、本発明の実施の形態2による液晶表示装置の構成の一例を示す断面図である。なお、図7は、RGBW画素を1絵素(基本単位)とした画素構造で液晶を制御する液晶表示装置について示している。また、当該液晶表示装置は、フリンジ電界によって液晶の配向を変えるFFSモードで駆動する。
図11は、本発明の実施の形態3によるブラックマトリクス17の一例を示す図である。
Claims (7)
- 赤色画素、緑色画素、青色画素、および白色画素を基本単位とした画素構造で液晶を制御する液晶表示装置であって、
前記白色画素に対応する前記液晶の電圧−透過率特性は、前記赤色画素、前記緑色画素、および前記青色画素の各々に対応する前記液晶の前記電圧−透過率特性と異なることを特徴とする、液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶表示装置は、フリンジ電界によって前記液晶の配向を変えるFFS(Fringe Field Switch)モードで駆動し、
前記赤色画素、前記緑色画素、前記青色画素、および前記白色画素の各々は、電圧印加時に前記フリンジ電界を発生させる複数のスリットを有するスリット電極を備え、
前記電圧−透過率特性は、前記液晶の配向軸と各前記スリットの長手方向とがなす角度に応じて異ならせることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記電圧−透過率特性は、各前記スリットの短手方向の長さに対する各前記スリットの配置間隔の比に応じて異ならせることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記白色画素に対応する前記液晶を透過する光のリタデーションは、前記赤色画素、前記緑色画素、および前記青色画素の各々に対応する前記液晶を透過する光のリタデーションと異なることを特徴とする、請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 赤色画素、緑色画素、青色画素、および白色画素を基本単位とした画素構造で液晶を制御する液晶表示装置であって、
前記白色画素に対応する前記液晶を透過する光のリタデーションは、前記赤色画素、前記緑色画素、および前記青色画素の各々に対応する前記液晶を透過する光のリタデーションと異なることを特徴とする、液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶に対して表示面側に配置されたレジスト膜をさらに備え、
前記白色画素に対応する前記液晶を透過する光のリタデーションは、前記白色画素に対応する前記レジスト膜の厚さに応じて異ならせることを特徴とする、請求項4または5に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶に対して表示面側に配置された遮光層をさらに備え、
前記遮光層は、前記赤色画素、前記緑色画素、前記青色画素、および前記白色画素に対応して形成された開口部を有し、
前記白色画素に対応する前記開口部の面積は、前記赤色画素、前記緑色画素、および前記青色画素に対応する各前記開口部の面積と異なることを特徴とする、請求項1から6のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
