Abstract
【解決手段】水素を酸化する触媒を含むアノード102と、水素化触媒を含むカソード103と、アノード102及びカソード103の間に配置されたプロトン伝導体101とを備える。プロトン伝導体101は、組成式AaB1-xB'xO3-δで表されるペロブスカイト型結晶構造を有し、Aは、2族元素から選択される少なくとも1つであり、Bは、4族の元素およびCeから選択される少なくとも1つであり、B'は、3族元素、13族元素またはランタノイド元素であり、0.5<a≦1.0、0.0≦x≦0.5、かつ0.0≦δ<3であり、組成式の電荷は、−0.13以上+0.14未満の範囲で電気的中性からずれている水素化装置100。

Description
特許文献2に記載の技術では、電解質を介して、隔壁で隔てられた一方の容器から他方の容器へプロトンを輸送させている。このような機構又はこのような動作が可能な装置は、水素ポンプと呼ばれる。典型的な水素ポンプは、アノードと、カソードと、これらの間に挟まれたプロトン伝導性固体電解質とを備え、アノード側に設けられた流路と、カソード側に設けられた流路とが、電解質によって分離された構造を有する。プロトン伝導性固体電解質の一方の主面上に形成されるアノードは、水素を酸化する触媒を含んでいる。アノード側の流路に例えば水素ガスを供給し、アノードとカソードとの間に電位差を与えると、アノードにおいて水素ガスから引き抜かれたプロトンが、プロトン伝導性固体電解質を介してカソード側に輸送される。
水素化によって水素を貯蔵することが可能な材料(以下、「被水素化物」ということがある。)として、芳香族炭化水素化合物であるベンゼン、トルエン、ビフェニル、ナフタレン、1−メチルナフタレン、2−エチルナフタレン等が知られている。これらの他にアセトンも被水素化物として利用し得る。これらを水素化すると、それぞれ、シクロヘキサン、メチルシクロヘキサン、ビシクロヘキシル、デカリン、1−メチルデカリン、2−エチルデカリン及び2−プロパノールを得る。本明細書では、このような水素化後の被水素化物を有機ハイドライドと称する。有機ハイドライドを脱水素化することにより、有機ハイドライドから水素を取り出すことが可能である。
一般的なペロブスカイト構造は、図1に例示されるように、元素A、B、Oによって構成され、組成式ABO3によって表される。ここで、Aは2価のカチオンとなり得る元素、Bは4価のカチオンとなり得る元素、Oは酸素である。ペロブスカイト構造を有する結晶の単位格子は、典型的には立方体に近い形を有している。図示されるように、単位格子の8個の頂点には元素Aのイオンが位置する。一方、単位格子の6個の面の中心には酸素Oのイオンが位置する。また、単位格子の中央付近には元素Bのイオンが位置する。元素A、B、Oが占める位置を、それぞれ、Aサイト、Bサイト、Oサイトと呼んでも良い。
ペロブスカイト構造を有する従来のプロトン伝導体では、4価の元素であるBを、3価の元素であるB'で置換すると、プロトン伝導体に酸素欠損が生じる。すなわち、4価のカチオンの一部が3価のカチオンで置換されると、カチオンが有するプラス電荷の合計が減るため、電気的中性を維持する電荷補償の作用により、2価のアニオンである酸素イオンの組成比率が低下し、酸素欠損が生じると考えられている。このような組成を有するプロトン伝導体では、酸素欠損の位置(Oサイト)に水分子(H2O)が導入されることにより、プロトン伝導体にプロトン伝導のキャリアが導入されると考えられている。
以下、実施の形態を説明する。
Aの元素の例は、2族元素(アルカリ土類金属)である。Aの元素が2族元素であることによって、ペロブスカイト型構造が安定化する。Aの元素の具体的な例は、バリウム(Ba)、ストロンチウム(Sr)、カルシウム(Ca)、およびマグネシウム(Mg)から選ばれる群からなる少なくとも1つである。特に、Aの元素がカルシウム(Ca)、バリウム(Ba)およびストロンチウム(Sr)からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つであるプロトン伝導体は、高いプロトン伝導性を有するので望ましい。また、Aの元素は、少なくともバリウム(Ba)を含み、かつ、ストロンチウム(Sr)、カルシウム(Ca)、およびマグネシウム(Mg)からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つを含んでいてもよい。例えば、Aの元素は、BayA'1-y(0<y≦1)である。
Bの元素の例は、4族の元素およびセリウム(Ce)から選択される少なくとも1つである。Bの元素の具体的な例は、ジルコニウム(Zr)、セリウム(Ce)、チタン(Ti)およびハフニウム(Hf)からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つである。Bの元素がジルコニウム(Zr)の場合、ペロブスカイト型構造が安定になるので、プロトン伝導性を有さない組織成分の生成が少なくなる。その結果、高いプロトン伝導性を有するプロトン伝導体が得られるので望ましい。
B'の元素の例は、3族の元素、13族の元素、または3価のランタノイド元素である。B'の元素は、0.5Åより大きく1.02Åより小さいイオン半径を有することが好ましい。これにより、ペロブスカイト型構造を安定に保つことができる。よって、結晶構造を維持したまま、酸素欠損が生じやすくなり、上記組成式AaB1-xB'xO3-δの電荷が電気的中性からずれても安定に存在し得る。
Aの元素の組成比を示すaの値は、0.5<a≦1.0の範囲である。組成比aが0.5以下である場合、ペロブスカイト構造を有する酸化物を合成することは可能であるが、上記組成式の電荷を電気的中性から制御することが困難になるため好ましくない。
本実施形態のプロトン伝導体の組成式、および、上記組成式で示した場合における、電荷の電気的中性からのずれは、例えば、電子線プローブマイクロアナライザー(EPMA)を用いることによって測定し得る。具体的には、プロトン伝導体の、上記組成式で表される元素の定量測定を行い、構成している元素の価数と組成比とから、上記組成式あたりの電荷を算出する。測定に用いる電子線マイクロプローブアナライザーを用いた評価では、波長分散型の分光器を用いて測定を行うことが好ましい。この場合、化学組成が既知である標準試料を用いて、定量評価できるよう検量を行うことが好ましい。一方、エネルギ分散型の分光器では、酸素等の軽元素の定量評価では大きな誤差が発生し得るため好ましくない。また誘導プラズマ分光法(ICP)を用いた定量分析では材料を構成している金属元素は測定出来るものの、酸素元素は定量できない。このため、電気的中性のずれを測定するには適していない。
本実施形態のプロトン伝導体は、種々の形態で実施することができる。膜状のプロトン伝導体を得る場合には、スパッタ法、プラズマレーザーデポジション法(PLD法)、ケミカルベイパーデポジション法(CVD法)等の膜形成方法によって製造することができる。組成の調整は、これらの膜形成方法で用いられる一般的な手法による。例えば、スパッタ法やプラズマレーザーデポジション法による場合は、ターゲットの組成を調整することによって、生成するプロトン伝導体の組成を制御できる。ケミカルベイパーデポジション法による場合には、原料ガスの反応室への導入量を調整することによって、生成するプロトン伝導体の組成を制御できる。
プロトン伝導体はプロトン伝導性固体電解質とも呼ばれる。プロトン伝導体はプロトンを伝導する機能を有していればよく、連続した膜やバルクでなくてもよい。
以下、実施例により、本開示を具体的に説明する。
基材(10mm×10mm、厚さ0.5mm)を、真空チャンバー内部の加熱機構を有する基板ホルダーにセットし、真空チャンバー内を10-3Pa程度の真空度に排気した。基材の材料は、酸化マグネシウム(MgO)単結晶であった。
Ba:Zr:Ce:Nd=10:5:4:1の元素比率を有する焼結体ターゲットを用いて成膜したこと以外は、実施例1と同様に実験を行った。表1に、成膜したプロトン伝導体の構造、組成比、およびプロトン伝導性を示す。
Ba:Zr:Y=2:1:1の元素比率を有する焼結体ターゲットを用いて成膜したこと以外は、実施例1と同様に実験を行った。表1に、成膜したプロトン伝導体の構造、組成比、およびプロトン伝導性を示す。
Ba:Zr:Ti:In=6:7:1:2の元素比率になる焼結体ターゲットを用いて成膜したこと以外は、実施例1と同様に実験を行った。表1に、成膜したプロトン伝導体の構造、組成比、およびプロトン伝導性を示す。
Ba:Zr:Y=5:4:1の元素比率になるように、炭酸バリウム(BaCO3)と酸化ジルコニウム(ZrO2)と酸化イットリウム(Y2O3)を秤量、混合し、1300℃程度で仮焼した後、1700℃で焼成することでセラミックスのバルク試料を作成した。セラミックスのバルク体を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様に実験を行った。表1に、成膜したプロトン伝導体の構造、組成比、およびプロトン伝導性を示す。

- 被水素化物を水素化する水素化装置であって、
水素を酸化する触媒を含むアノードと、
水素化触媒を含むカソードと、
前記アノード及び前記カソードの間に配置されたプロトン伝導体と
を備え、
前記プロトン伝導体は、組成式AaB1-xB'xO3-δで表されるペロブスカイト型結晶構造を有し、
前記Aは、2族元素から選択される少なくとも1つであり、
前記Bは、4族の元素およびCeから選択される少なくとも1つであり、
前記B'は、3族元素、13族元素またはランタノイド元素であり、
0.5<a≦1.0、0.0≦x≦0.5、かつ0.0≦δ<3であり、
前記組成式の電荷は、−0.13以上+0.14未満の範囲で電気的中性からずれている、水素化装置。 - 前記Aは、Ba、SrおよびCaからなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1つであり、
