Abstract
Description
本出願は、その全内容が参照により本明細書に組み入れられる、2010年12月1日に提出された米国特許仮出願第61/418,735号の恩典を主張する。
心臓内血液ポンプは、血液を心臓から動脈へと送達するために少なくとも部分的に心臓に導入される血液ポンプであり、該ポンプは心臓の外科的開口部を通じて突き出たものでありうる。典型的な心臓内血液ポンプは、約10〜15 mmの最大外径を有する。心臓内血液ポンプの特殊な型は、血管内血液ポンプである。それは、患者の血管系を通じて心臓に導入され、切開部は心臓から離れている。典型的には、患者の体に経皮的に挿入される心臓内血液ポンプは、非常に小型であり、最大外径は8 mmまたはそれ未満である。
多くの応用において、X線イメージング、透視検査等を含む医療用イメージング技術が、心臓内および血管内血液ポンプまたは他のデバイスの挿入および位置付けをガイドするために医師によって用いられる。そのような応用において、ポンプデバイスの可視性を改善することは有利である。特に、いくつかのポンプは、低い放射線不透過性を有し、それによってX線イメージングまたは透視イメージングに対して低い可視性を有する材料で作製されたカニューレまたは他の部分を含む。しかし、これらの放射線不透過性が低い部分を正確に位置付けることは、デバイスの適切な機能にとって重要でありうる。そのような場合において、可視性を改善するためにカニューレ(または他の放射線不透過性が低い部分)に放射線不透過性マーカーを提供することは有利である。
図1を参照すると、心臓内ポンプなどの医療用デバイスにおいて用いられるカニューレに放射線不透過性マーカーを適用するための方法100が開示されている。図2A〜2Eは、例示的な態様の方法の段階を図示している。図2A〜2Eの各々は、カニューレを端から端へと切り分けて、図の左側の流入末端から図の右側の流出末端まで通るカニューレの中心軸を含む平面に対応する、カニューレの断面を示す。
Claims (20)
- 心臓内ポンプと共に用いるためのカニューレに放射線不透過性マーカーを適用する方法であって、
放射線不透過性ポリマー材料のバンドを取得する段階;
形状記憶材料のコイルの周囲に形成されて該コイルによって支持された柔軟な管状の壁を含むカニューレの外径周囲に、バンドを配置する段階;
バンドおよびカニューレの周囲に、熱収縮チューブを配置する段階;
バンドを軟化させ、
熱収縮チューブを収縮させて、軟化したバンドにカニューレの方向へと力を加え、かつ
軟化したバンドをカニューレに溶着させて、管状の壁の一部分に放射線不透過性マーカーを形成する
ために、バンドおよびポリマーチューブを加熱する段階;ならびに
熱収縮チューブを取り除く段階
を含む前記方法。 - 熱収縮チューブを取り除いた後に、放射線不透過性マーカーを含む管状の壁の前記部分が実質的になめらかな外表面を有する、請求項1記載の方法。
- 放射線不透過性マーカーを含む管状の壁の前記部分の外径が、放射線不透過性マーカーを含まない隣接部分の外径とは0.1%未満異なる、請求項2記載の方法。
- 放射線不透過性マーカーを含む管状の壁の前記部分の外径が、放射線不透過性マーカーを含まない隣接部分の外径とは0.01%未満異なる、請求項2記載の方法。
- 放射線不透過性マーカーを含む管状の壁の前記部分の外径が、放射線不透過性マーカーを含まない隣接部分の外径と実質的に同じである、請求項2記載の方法。
- 放射線不透過性マーカーを含む管状の壁の前記部分が、使用中に溶血または血栓を促進する表面のむらを実質的に有しない実質的になめらかな外表面を有する、請求項2記載の方法。
- 放射線不透過性のバンドが、放射線不透過性材料と、放射線不透過性ではないポリマーとの混合物を含み、かつ該混合物が、少なくとも80重量%の放射線不透過性材料を含む、請求項2記載の方法。
- 放射線不透過性材料と、放射線不透過性ではないポリマーとを混合して混合物を形成することと;
混合物を押し出し成形することによって放射線不透過性チューブを形成することと;
放射線不透過性チューブを切断して少なくとも1つのバンドを形成することと
を含む、放射線不透過性バンドを形成する段階
をさらに含む、請求項2記載の方法。 - 心臓内ポンプと共に用いるためのカニューレに放射線不透過性マーカーを適用する方法であって、
放射線不透過性の金属要素を取得する段階;
形状記憶材料のコイルによって支持された柔軟な管状のポリマー壁を含むカニューレの外径に、マーカーを接触させて配置する段階;
放射線不透過性金属要素およびカニューレの周りに、非金属材料のスリーブを配置する段階;
スリーブの周りに熱収縮チューブを配置する段階;
スリーブを軟化させ、
熱収縮チューブを収縮させて、軟化したバンドにカニューレの方向へと力を加え、かつ
軟化したバンドを前記要素の周囲でカニューレに溶着させて、管状の壁の一部分に放射線不透過性マーカーを形成する
ために、スリーブおよび熱収縮チューブを加熱する段階;ならびに
熱収縮チューブを取り除く段階
を含む前記方法。 - 熱収縮チューブを取り除いた後に、放射線不透過性マーカーを含む管状の壁の前記部分が、前記要素を取り囲んだ非金属材料の実質的になめらかな外表面を有する、請求項9記載の方法。
- 放射線不透過性マーカーを含む管状の壁の前記部分の外径が、放射線不透過性マーカーを含まない隣接部分の外径とは1.0%未満異なる、請求項10記載の方法。
- 放射線不透過性マーカーを含む管状の前記部分の外径が、放射線不透過性マーカーを含まない隣接部分の外径とは0.1%未満異なる、請求項10記載の方法。
- マーカーの表面または縁が露出しないように、前記要素がなめらかな外層によって完全に覆われる、請求項10記載の方法。
- なめらかな外層が、覆われたマーカーに対応する外径のむらを実質的に有しない、請求項13記載の方法。
- なめらかな外層が、使用中に溶血または血栓を促進する表面のむらを実質的に有しない、請求項13記載の方法。
- 前記要素が弾性部材を含み、かつ
