Abstract
【解決手段】パルス光発生装置10は、パルス光P1を共振させる光共振器と、パルス光P1を増幅するゲイン媒質21と、ゲイン媒質21に励起エネルギを供給するエネルギ供給部14と、パルス光P1の元となるパルス状の種光P2を周期的に光共振器へ提供する種光源12と、電気光学効果によってパルス光P1の偏光状態を制御する電気光学素子23と、パルス光P1をその偏光状態に応じて選択的に反射または透過する偏光ビームスプリッタ25と、電気光学素子23にパルス状の駆動電圧Vdを印加する電圧供給部15とを備える。電圧供給部15は、階段状の電圧波形を有する駆動電圧Vdを電気光学素子23に印加する。

Description
上記実施形態の第1変形例として、電圧供給部15から印加される駆動電圧Vdの電圧波形の別の例について説明する。図7は、本変形例における電圧供給部15の動作を模式的に示す図である。また、図8(a)は入力端42aに入力される電圧の時間波形を示しており、図8(b)は入力端42bに入力される電圧の時間波形を示しており、図8(c)は出力端41における駆動電圧Vdの時間波形を示している。
上記実施形態の第2変形例として、電圧供給部15から印加される駆動電圧Vdの電圧波形の更に別の例について説明する。図9は、本変形例における電圧供給部15の動作を模式的に示す図である。また、図10(a)は入力端42aに入力される電圧の時間波形を示しており、図10(b)は入力端42bに入力される電圧の時間波形を示しており、図10(c)は出力端41における駆動電圧Vdの時間波形を示している。
上記実施形態の第3変形例として、電圧供給部15から印加される駆動電圧Vdの電圧波形の更に別の例について説明する。図11は、本変形例における電圧供給部15の動作を模式的に示す図である。また、図12(a)は入力端42aに入力される電圧の時間波形を示しており、図12(b)は入力端42bに入力される電圧の時間波形を示しており、図12(c)は出力端41における駆動電圧Vdの時間波形を示している。
ここで、上述した第3変形例に関する実施例について説明する。いま、n段(nは2以上の整数)の電圧波形を有する駆動電圧Vdを電気光学素子23に印加したとき、パルス光発生装置10から出力される第n番目で出力されるパルス光P1のエネルギGnは、
n=2のとき:G2=A×(I1−I2)/I1
n≧3のとき:Gn=B×Gn−1×In−1×(I1−In)/(I1−In−1)/I1
となる。但し、Aは1段目で増幅されたパルス光P1のエネルギ、Bは光共振器を1往復した際の利得、Inは駆動電圧Vdの第n段目における電圧値である。なお、上式では、光共振器を1往復した際の利得は常に一定であり、駆動電圧Vdの電圧値と光共振器内のQ値は比例関係にあると仮定している。また、I1はQ値が最も高くなる最大電圧値を仮定している。
図17は、上記実施形態に関する実施例として、複数本のパルス光P1の出力結果を示すグラフである。図17において、横軸上段は、一回の共振動作で生成されたパルス光P1の本数を表しており、横軸下段は、一回の共振動作で生成された複数のパルス光P1から成るパルス列の時間幅(単位:ns)を表している。また、縦軸は、パルス列の総エネルギ(単位:μJ)を表している。なお、丸形のプロットは繰返し周波数1kHzでの結果を示しており、菱形のプロットは繰返し周波数10kHzでの結果を示している。

Claims (5)
- パルス光を共振させる光共振器と、
前記光共振器の共振光路上に配置され前記パルス光を増幅するゲイン媒質と、
前記ゲイン媒質に励起エネルギを供給するエネルギ供給部と、
前記パルス光の元となるパルス状の種光を周期的に前記光共振器へ提供する種光源と、
前記共振光路上に設けられ、電気光学効果によって前記パルス光の偏光状態を制御する電気光学素子と、
前記共振光路上に設けられ、前記パルス光をその偏光状態に応じて選択的に反射または透過する偏光ビームスプリッタと、
前記電気光学素子にパルス状の駆動電圧を印加する電圧供給部と
を備え、
前記電圧供給部が、階段状の電圧波形を有する前記駆動電圧を前記電気光学素子に印加することにより、一回の共振につき複数の前記パルス光が前記光共振器から前記偏光ビームスプリッタを介して取り出されることを特徴とする、パルス光発生装置。 - 前記電圧供給部において、前記階段状の電圧波形の段数、各段の電圧、および各段の時間幅のうち少なくとも一つが可変であることにより、一回の共振動作毎に前記光共振器から取り出される前記複数のパルス光のパルス数および前記複数のパルス光からなるパルス列の長さのうち少なくとも一方を変更可能であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のパルス光発生装置。
- 前記電圧波形は、第1の電圧値が印加される第1の期間と、前記第1の電圧値よりも低い第2の電圧値が印加される第2の期間とを含み、
前記第2の期間の長さが可変であることにより、一回の共振動作毎に前記光共振器から取り出される前記複数のパルス光のパルス数および前記複数のパルス光からなるパルス列の長さを変更可能であることを特徴とする、請求項1または2に記載のパルス光発生装置。 - 一回の共振動作毎に前記光共振器から取り出される前記複数のパルス光が、互いに光強度が異なる2以上のパルス光を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のパルス光発生装置。
- 前記電圧供給部は、
前記電気光学素子に前記駆動電圧を出力する出力端と、
第1の定電圧を供給する第1の定電位線と、
前記出力端に一方の電流端子が接続され、前記第1の定電位線に他方の電流端子が接続された第1のトランジスタと、
入力側コイル及び出力側コイルを有し、前記出力側コイルが前記第1のトランジスタの制御端子に接続された第1の変圧器と、
前記第1の変圧器の前記入力側コイルの一端に第1の容量素子を介して接続され、第1のパルス電圧が入力される第1の入力端と、
前記第1の定電圧より低い第2の定電圧を供給する第2の定電位線と、
前記出力端に一方の電流端子が接続され、前記第2の定電位線に他方の電流端子が接続された第2のトランジスタと、
入力側コイル及び出力側コイルを有し、前記出力側コイルが前記第2のトランジスタの制御端子に接続された第2の変圧器と、
前記第2の変圧器の前記入力側コイルの一端に第2の容量素子を介して接続され、第2のパルス電圧が入力される第2の入力端とを備え、
前記第1及び第2のパルス電圧によって前記第1及び第2のトランジスタの制御端子に入力されるパルス電圧の大きさが、前記第1及び第2のトランジスタそれぞれの閾値電圧以上であることを特徴とする、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載のパルス光発生装置。
