Abstract

組成物のマトリックス相で使用されるポリプロピレンは、ホモポリマーか又は共重合体のいずれかであってよい。ホモポリマーにより、ポリプロピレンが少なくとも99重量パーセント、好ましくは少なくとも99.5重量パーセントのプロピレン由来単位を含むことが意味される。好ましくは、マトリックスポリプロピレンは、共重合体、より好ましくはランダム共重合体であり、1〜10重量パーセント、好ましくは1〜8重量パーセント、より好ましくは2〜6重量パーセントのエチレン及び/又はC4−8α−オレフィンに由来する単位と、残りのプロピレンに由来する共重合体単位を含む。好ましいC4−8α−オレフィンには、1−ブテン、1−ペンテン、4−メチル(mthyl)−1−ペンテン、1−ヘキセン、1−ヘプテン及び1−オクテンが挙げられる。本発明の状況において、ランダム共重合体は、無作為な長さの2つのモノマー単位の交互配列からなる共重合体である(単一分子を含む)。好ましい一つのランダム共重合体は、プロピレン及びエチレンに由来する単位からなる。
分散プロピレン共重合体、すなわちポリプロピレンマトリックスの中に含まれるプロピレン共重合体は、実質的に非晶質である、すなわち、それは、示差走査熱量測定(DSC)により測定される融点及びエンタルピーを欠くことにより表されるように、明確な秩序又は結晶化度を有さない。実質的に非晶質とは、プロピレン共重合体が、1グラム当たり10ジュール(J/g)の融解エンタルピーに相当するレベルよりも低い残留結晶化度を有することを意味する。
本発明の異相ポリマー組成物は、そのマトリックスよりも構造秩序の低いプロピレン共重合体が分散されているポリプロピレンマトリックスを含む。
複合材料、すなわち絶縁層を製造する材料は、熱可塑性組成物である、すなわち、温度を上昇させることにより繰り返し融解し、温度を低下させることにより凝固することができる。熱可塑性材料は、それを加熱した場合の変化が化学的であるよりもむしろ実質的に物理的である材料である。それらは主として二次元若しくは一次元分子構造である。好ましくは、複合材料は、熱可塑性ポリオレフィン組成物である。
本発明はまた、複合材料から物品、例えば、ケーブル絶縁材を生産するためのプロセスを含む。このプロセスは、(1)1以上のスラリー反応器中で、所望により1以上の気相反応器中でポリプロピレンマトリックスを生産する工程、それに続いて(2)気相中でプロピレン共重合体を生産する工程、及び(3)所望により、反応器系においてポリエチレンブレンディング又はエチレンの現場重合を加える工程を含む。添加剤は、任意の種類のブレンディング又は混合操作により異相ポリマー組成物に添加することができる。
Claims (10)
- 複合材料を含むケーブルのための絶縁層であって、前記複合材料が異相ポリマー組成物を含み、前記組成物が(A)ポリプロピレンマトリックス、及び(B)前記マトリックスの内部に分散したプロピレン共重合体を含み、前記プロピレン共重合体が(1)80重量パーセント(重量%)より多くのプロピレン由来単位を含み、かつ(2)1ミクロン(μm)未満の重量平均粒径を有する、絶縁層。
- 前記複合材料が、前記層の少なくとも90重量%を含む、請求項1に記載の絶縁層。
- 前記複合材料の、ISO 1133に従って測定されるメルトフローレート(MFR)が、10分当たり0.5〜50グラム(g/10分)である、請求項2に記載の絶縁層。
- 前記複合材料の密度が、1立方センチメートル当たり0.89〜0.95グラム(g/cm3)である、請求項3に記載の絶縁層。
- 前記ポリプロピレンマトリックスが、前記異相ポリマー組成物の50〜90重量%を含む、請求項4に記載の絶縁層。
- 前記ポリプロピレンマトリックスが、ランダムプロピレン共重合体を含む、請求項5に記載の絶縁層。
- 前記ランダムプロピレン共重合体が、エチレン及びC4−8α−オレフィンの少なくとも1つのコモノマーに由来する単位を含む、請求項6に記載の絶縁層。
- 前記複合材料が、ポリエチレンをさらに含む、請求項7に記載の絶縁層。
- 可塑剤を含まない、請求項1に記載の絶縁層。
- 請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載の少なくとも1つの導体及び少なくとも1つの絶縁層を含むケーブル。
