Claims (25)
- (a)燃料の燃焼によりケイ酸マグネシウム水酸化物鉱物原料を直接的に熱活性化して、活性化原料を形成する工程;
(b)該活性化原料から、少なくとも酸化マグネシウム及びケイ酸マグネシウムを実質的に含まない金属酸化物を分離して、残留活性化原料を形成する工程;
(c)前記分離工程(b)の前後で、溶媒中にこれらの活性化原料を懸濁させて、スラリーを形成する工程;及び
(d)該残留活性化原料のスラリーを二酸化炭素と接触させて、該二酸化炭素を炭酸マグネシウムに変える工程
を含む、二酸化炭素を固体材料に変える方法。 - 前記ケイ酸マグネシウム水酸化物鉱物原料は、大部分が蛇紋石又は滑石から構成されている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記活性化原料から分離された金属酸化物は、鉄、ケイ素、アルミニウム、マンガン、クロム、ニッケル、チタン、銅、カリウム、リン、カルシウム及びナトリウムの1つ以上の酸化物を含む、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 前記ケイ酸マグネシウム水酸化物鉱物原料の直接的熱活性化は、炉、窯、流動床炉若しくは類似の燃焼室、又は加熱容器内の炭化水素燃料の燃焼により放出された熱を掛けることにより行われる、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 二酸化炭素の活性化原料との反応から放出された熱を用いる燃料の燃焼により放出された熱、及び/又は関連する炭素若しくは炭化水素燃料燃焼、ガス化、改質若しくは電気発生装置から引き抜かれた低級熱若しくは排熱、及び/又は燃料燃焼加熱容器からの生成物を冷却する工程から引き抜かれた熱、及び/又は圧縮後に二酸化炭素を冷却する工程から引き抜かれた熱を掛けることにより、直接的熱活性化前に前記ケイ酸マグネシウム水酸化物鉱物原料を予熱する、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記原料の温度を少なくとも約580℃の温度へ上げて維持することにより、前記原料の直接的熱活性化を起こす、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 基本的に乾燥状態にある一連の熱交換器及び加熱容器内で前記原料を加熱して、任意の液体を前記原料に加えることなく、前記一連の熱交換器及び加熱容器を通して前記原料を輸送することにより、加熱処理のための熱必要量を減らす、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記原料の加熱中に前記原料を回すか、及び/又は攪拌するように設計された加熱容器内で前記原料を加熱して、脱水酸化及び活性化に役立てる、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記原料は、前記燃料の燃焼ガスから隔離されて、適切に設計された加熱容器内の燃料燃焼室からの放射、伝導又は対流によって加熱される、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 酸素含有率の低い燃焼混合物内で前記原料の直接的熱活性化を起こすことによって、燃焼ガスの酸素含有量が、炭化水素燃料の炭素含有分の二酸化炭素への完全な燃焼のための化学量論的必要量を下回る、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記直接的熱活性化工程における脱水酸化反応により放出された水が、前記直接的熱活性化工程からの生成気体流に対して設置された圧縮器内の処理における再利用のために回収される、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記原料を微粉砕に供して、原料平均粒径を約500μm未満に下げる、請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記活性化原料を水性溶媒と混合して、前記直接的熱活性化工程の後ではあるが前記分離工程の前に、さらに微粉砕に供して、75μm未満の粒径にする、請求項1〜12のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも酸化マグネシウム及びケイ酸マグネシウムを実質的に含まない金属酸化物を分離して、残留活性化原料を形成する工程は、重力又は密度分離処理を用いて行われる、請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも酸化マグネシウム及びケイ酸マグネシウムを実質的に含まない金属酸化物を分離して、残留活性化原料を形成する工程は、密度分離処理と磁気及び/又は静電分離処理との組み合わせを用いて行われる、請求項1〜14のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記活性化原料を、二酸化炭素と接触させる前に、弱酸性水溶液又は混合水溶液及び/又は食塩水、又は二酸化炭素と混和できる他の溶媒に懸濁させる、請求項1〜15のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記溶媒は、水、弱酸、弱酸の塩溶液、食塩水溶液、食塩水と重炭酸ナトリウムの水溶液、重炭酸カリウム溶液、水とアルコールの混合溶液、水とグリコールの混合溶液、水とグリセロールの混合溶液の1種以上から選択される、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記二酸化炭素は、希釈流内にあるか、又は大気から直接に引き抜かれている、請求項1〜17のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記活性化原料を含む開放領域、スラリーダム、備蓄体若しくは類似の通気構造体又は堆積浸出装置から成る装置内で、前記二酸化炭素を活性化原料と接触させる、請求項1〜18のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記活性化原料を超臨界液化又は高圧ガス状二酸化炭素と接触させて、該二酸化炭素を炭酸マグネシウムへ実質的に変える、請求項1〜17のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 高乱流又は急速分散又は摩擦条件を提供するように設計された反応容器内で前記二酸化炭素と残留活性化原料を接触させて、前記二酸化炭素を炭酸マグネシウムへ急速かつ実質的に変える、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記反応容器には、未反応原料、溶媒及び他の試薬を循環させて炭酸化反応容器へ戻す回収流が備わっている、請求項21に記載の方法。
- 前記回収流は、実質的に未反応の原料からシリカ及び炭酸マグネシウムを実質的に分離して、該実質的に未反応の原料を前記反応器に戻す追加の分離段階を含む、請求項22に記載の方法。
- 前記分離段階では重力又は密度分離を利用する、請求項23に記載の方法。
- 冷却運転から回収されたエネルギーが、前記二酸化炭素を圧縮するためのポンプ又は圧縮器を駆動するために利用される、請求項1〜24のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
