各衣料用防虫剤について、下記の性能試験を実施した。
(防虫成分の揮散量)
縦50cm×横40cm×高さ25cm(約50リットル)の衣装ケース内に8分目くらいまでウール毛布を入れ、衣料用防虫剤を毛布上部に設置し、室温条件下に放置した。5日間経過後に、衣料用防虫剤に残存する防虫成分を分析して、1日あたりの揮散量を求めた。(なお、その後の揮散量はデータとして示していないが、1日あたりの揮散量は防虫成分の揮散が終了するまでほぼ同じであった。)
(防虫効力試験)
縦50cm×横40cm×高さ25cm(約50リットル)の衣装ケース内に8分目くらいまでウール毛布を入れ、衣料用防虫剤を毛布上部に設置した。同様に、ウール毛布のみ入れて衣料用防虫剤を設置しない同サイズの衣装ケースを無処理区とした。
衣装ケース内に、イガ幼虫10匹と5cm×5cmのウール布を入れた網かごを4ヶ所設置し、1週間後にウール布の食害の程度を以下に従って判定した。
− :食害はない
+ :ウール布の毛足が削がれたような食害が認められるが貫通してはいない
++ :食害が認められ貫通孔がある
+++:甚大な食害が認められ、複数または大きな貫通孔がある
(香り強度試験)
防虫成分の揮散量測定後(5日後)、衣装ケース内の香りについて、モニター10人による官能試験を行った。以下のように評価を行い、点数の平均値を香り強度として示した。
1点:香りはない、またはほとんどしない。
2点:香りが弱い。
3点:香りがちょうどよい。
4点:香りが強い。
5点:香りが強すぎて不快。
算出された値が、4以上であれば香りが強すぎて実際の使用場面には適さない。
(不織布袋内での薬剤保持体の移動性)
通気性材料である不織布袋内での薬剤保持体の移動性を以下の方法で試験した。
衣料用防虫剤の平面を平台の上に置き、その袋の厚み(A)を予めノギスにて測定する。
次に衣料用防虫剤の平面を平台に対して垂直に起立させた状態を保ちながら、5cmの高さから平台へ落下させ、落下後の袋の厚み(B)をノギスにて測定する。
落下後の厚みの変化(B/A値)を計算した。 数値が示す状態の目安を以下に示した。
B/A=1〜1.3:不織布袋は変形せず、薬剤保持体はほとんど移動しない。
B/A=1.3〜1.8:不織布袋は適度に変形し、薬剤保持体も適度に移動することができる。
B/A=1.8〜:不織布袋は大きく変形し、薬剤保持体が底面に局在化する。
結果を表1に示す。

(Mobility of drug holder in non-woven bag)
The mobility of the drug holder in the non-woven bag, which is a breathable material, was tested by the following method.
The flat surface of the insect repellent for clothing is placed on a flat table, and the thickness (A) of the bag is measured in advance with a caliper.
Next, while keeping the plane of the insect repellent for clothes perpendicular to the flat table, it is dropped from a height of 5 cm onto the flat table, and the thickness (B) of the bag after dropping is measured with a caliper.
The change in thickness (B / A value) after dropping was calculated. The indication of the state indicated by the numerical values is shown below.
B / A = 1 to 1.3: The nonwoven fabric bag is not deformed, and the drug holder hardly moves.
B / A = 1.3 to 1.8: The nonwoven fabric bag is appropriately deformed, and the drug holding body can also be appropriately moved.
B / A = 1.8-: The nonwoven fabric bag is greatly deformed, and the drug holder is localized on the bottom surface.
The results are shown in Table 1.

見掛け容積率が14%と低い場合、有効成分の揮散が乏しいことから有効な防虫剤効力が発揮されず、イガ幼虫による食害の被害を受けた。また見掛け容積率が71%や100%と高すぎる場合は、内容量が多すぎることから、不織布袋は変形せず、薬剤保持体はほとんど移動しないことから使用感が悪い。さらに香りが強すぎるという問題が生じ、さらに製造時や実使用時に急な衝撃を受けた際に、不織布袋が破れ内容物が散らばる危険性がある。
本試験結果より、本発明である18〜60%の範囲にある見掛け容積率の防虫剤は、通気性不織布袋内の薬剤保持体に適度な揮散性と移動性を与え、その結果、有効な防虫効果を発揮することがわかった。
