(2)防虫試験:約23Lの透明衣装ケース内に、羊毛布を畳んで入れた。(1)の揮散試験で2ケ月経過後のサンプルを2個取り出し、前記衣装ケース内の羊毛布の上に置いた。2週間放置後、畳んだ羊毛布の中間層にイガ幼虫10頭を含む網カゴを設置し、その後7日後の時点でイガ幼虫の致死率(ノックダウンを含む)を観察した。なお、網カゴは2ケ所に設置した。

これに対し、比較例1〜4のように、昇華性物質に担持するエムペントリンとプロフルトリンの混合比率が10:1〜1:1の範囲を外れると、常温揮散性薬剤の揮散を昇華性物質の昇華に合わせて効率的に制御するのが難しくなり、しかも相乗的な防虫効果を期待できなかった。
また、昇華性物質に対する常温揮散性薬剤の担持量が3.0%を越えると、比較例5の如く可撓性袋への滲み出しが避けられなかった。更に、比較例6のように、2種の常温揮散性薬剤を昇華性物質ではなくパルプ製マットに担持させた場合には、前記混合比率の範囲内であっても、常温揮散性薬剤の揮散と昇華性物質の昇華の効率的制御や相乗的な防虫効果が得られず、従って実施例の作用・効果は特定の常温揮散性薬剤と昇華性担体との組み合わせに基づくものであることが実証された。
