Abstract
【解決手段】電気泳動表示装置は、基板(11)と、基板上の空間を複数のセル(13)に分割する隔壁(12)と、基板上の複数のセルの各々に充填された電気泳動分散液(20)と、隔壁を介して基板と対向するように設けられ、複数のセルを封止する封止膜(30)と、隔壁の上面と封止膜との間に部分的に形成され、電気泳動分散液が相分離してなる相分離部(40)とを備える。

Description
第1実施形態に係る電気泳動表示装置について、図1から図3を参照して説明する。
図5を参照して前述したO2プラズマ処理に代えて、CF4プラズマ処理(即ち、CF4ガスを用いたプラズマ処理)をセルマトリクス10に施してもよい。この場合には、隔壁12の上面にフッ化炭素基(−CF)を形成することができる。よって、隔壁12の上面に形成されたフッ化炭素基と、封止膜30が有するヒドロキシル基との間に水素結合を生じさせることができるので、隔壁12の上面と封止膜30との密着性をより確実に向上させることができる。更に、この場合には、隔壁12が撥液性を有するので、電気泳動分散液20をセル13に、より確実に選択的に充填することができる。
第2実施形態に係る電気泳動表示装置について、図9及び図10を参照して説明する。
次に、前述した電気泳動表示装置を適用した電子機器について、図11及び図12を参照して説明する。以下では、前述した電気泳動表示装置を電子ペーパー及び電子ノートに適用した場合を例にとる。
Claims (5)
- 基板と、
前記基板上の空間を複数のセルに分割する隔壁と、
前記基板上の前記複数のセルの各々に充填された電気泳動分散液と、
前記隔壁を介して前記基板と対向するように設けられ、前記複数のセルを封止する封止膜と、
前記隔壁の上面と前記封止膜との間に部分的に形成され、前記電気泳動分散液が相分離してなる相分離部と
を備えることを特徴とする電気泳動表示装置。 - 前記電気泳動分散液及び前記封止膜の少なくとも一方は、両親媒性物質を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気泳動表示装置。
- 前記隔壁の上面は、極性化処理が施されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の電気泳動表示装置。
- 基板上に、該基板上の空間を複数のセルに分割する隔壁を形成する工程と、
前記基板上の前記複数のセルの各々に電気泳動分散液を充填する工程と、
前記隔壁の上面に極性化処理を施す工程と、
前記基板と前記隔壁を介して対向するように、前記複数のセルを封止する封止膜を設ける工程と
を含み、
前記電気泳動分散液及び前記封止膜の少なくとも一方は、両親媒性物質を含んでおり、
前記隔壁の上面と前記封止膜との間に、前記電気泳動分散液が相分離してなる相分離部を部分的に形成する
ことを特徴とする電気泳動表示装置の製造方法。 - 請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の電気泳動表示装置を備えることを特徴とする電子機器。
