別に寒天培地を入れ固めたシャーレを培地面を下向きにして置き、容器内には、精製水を入れて湿度を調整した。ステンレス容器に蓋をし、25℃±2℃で7日間保存し、内部から寒天培地を取り出し、別に黴胞子懸濁液を含浸したペーパーディスクを用意し、寒天培地の中央に置き、このまま蓋を被せて25℃±2℃で5日間培養した。培養後の発育した黴の発育直径を算出し、防黴効果の評価を行った。また対照品として、他の防黴成分を含有したものを作成し、同様の方法で試験した。

防黴効果の評価基準:○(発育直径が対照の60%を超えないとき)、△(発育直径が対照の60〜80%のとき)、×(発育直径が対照の80%より大きいとき)

×:(明らかに食害が認められる)

試験の結果、本発明の防黴防虫組成物を用いたものは、いずれも高い防黴効果が初期から12ヶ月後まで、継続して持続した。また、防虫効果においても同様であった。さらに臭いにおいてもいずれも臭いがないかわずかに臭う程度で、実用上の問題はなかった。
これに対して、比較例のフェノール系の防黴成分を使用したものでは、防虫効果に問題はなかったが、初期から防黴効果が不十分であった。また臭いの点でも、いずれも臭いが強く実用上、好ましくなかった。また、イソチアゾリン系防黴剤を単独で使用し、添加量を増やした場合には、初期の防黴効果は認められたが、6ヶ月後には防黴効果は低下した。
