Description

変更実施例は、本発明の精神または範囲から逸脱せずに創作されてもよい。例えば、ここに記載された方法は水の流れだけではなく、呼吸できる空気等の浄化を必要とするその他の流体にも適用されうる。

Claims (14)
- 流体を殺菌する装置であって、
壁、少なくとも1つの入口、少なくとも1つの出口、光透過窓を有していて、流体が前記入口から入り前記出口から出るチャンバと、
前記窓に隣接して配置されていて、紫外線(UV)放射を前記チャンバに伝播させる紫外線放射源とを備え、
前記紫外線放射が全内部反射を介して前記チャンバを通して実質的に案内され、
前記チャンバは内側透過管を備え、該内側透過管はそこから所定の間隙で離間された外側格納容器によって包囲され、ならびに
前記内側透過管および間隙が前記チャンバの壁を画定する、
流体殺菌装置。 - 前記流体は電磁スペクトルの紫外線領域においてn1の屈折率を有し、
前記壁は電磁スペクトルの紫外線領域においてn2の正味屈折率を有し、ならびに
前記n2が前記n1よりも小さい、
請求項1に記載の装置。 - 前記外側格納容器は金属からなり、内側反射壁面が前記内側透過管を包囲する、請求項2に記載の装置。
- 前記内側反射壁面は前記全内部反射との干渉を回避するのに十分な距離で前記内側透過管から離間され、前記内側反射壁面は前記内側透過管壁を逃げる任意の紫外線放射を前記内側透過管へ実質的に反射して戻す、請求項3に記載の装置。
- 前記内側透過管はUV級石英ガラスからなる、請求項4に記載の装置。
- 前記間隙は真空を備えている、請求項2に記載の装置。
- 前記間隙は流体を包囲して、前記透過管内の流体の屈折率よりも小さい屈折率を保証する、請求項2に記載の装置。
- 前記間隙内の流体は空気である、請求項7に記載の装置。
- 流体を殺菌する装置であって、
壁、少なくとも1つの入口、少なくとも1つの出口、光透過窓を有していて、流体が前記入口から入り前記出口から出るチャンバと、ならびに
前記窓に隣接して配置されていて、紫外線(UV)放射を前記チャンバに伝播させる紫外線放射源とを備え、
前記紫外線放射が全内部反射を介して前記チャンバを通して実質的に案内され、
前記チャンバは中空螺旋コイルを備えている、
流体殺菌装置。 - 前記コイルは、5:1よりも大きい曲げ半径対断面平均半径比を有している、請求項9に記載の装置。
- 前記紫外線放射源からの放射が非UV吸収結合プリズムを介して前記コイルに結合される、請求項9に記載の装置。
- 携帯浄水装置であって、
未処理水を受け入れるための入口を有する容器と、および
紫外線処理水を供給するための別個の出口とを備え、
紫外線放射が全内部反射を介して前記水に実質的に相互作用する、
携帯浄水装置。 - 前記容器用キャップをさらに備え、前記コイル状にされた管材料が前記キャップ内に配置されている、請求項12に記載の浄水装置。
- 水が前記容器から沈殿物フィルタを通り前記コイル状にされた管材料に入る、請求項13に記載の浄水装置。
