Abstract
【解決手段】この水酸化マグネシウム粒子は、粒度が0.2〜5.0μm、平均粒度が1.0〜1.5μm、比表面積が3〜8m2/gの範囲内にあり、かつ酸化マグネシウムの水和により生成された多面状の結晶形態を有する。本発明によると、低コストで水酸化マグネシウム粒子を提供することができ、このように製造された水酸化マグネシウムはゴム及びプラスチック等に難燃剤として適用することが出来る。

Description
本発明者らは、水熱処理に求められる高いエネルギー費用を低減させ製造費用を最小化できる難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム粒子及びその製造方法を研究する中、水酸化マグネシウム粒子の原料である酸化マグネシウムを適切に制御し、添加剤として無機酸またはマグネシウム塩を添加して水と水和反応させると、高いエネルギー費用が求められる水熱処理を実施することなく、難燃剤としての特性を有する水酸化マグネシウム粒子を確保できるということを実験を通じて確認し、その実験結果に基づいて本発明を完成することに至った。
先ず、酸化マグネシウムを325メッシュ以下に細かく粉砕する。粉砕は酸化マグネシウムを細かく粉砕できる方法であれば制限なく適用することが出来る。水和反応のための酸化マグネシウム原料が325メッシュ以上の粒度を有する場合には、水和反応を通じて100%の水酸化マグネシウム粒子の生成が困難であり、生成された水酸化マグネシウム粒子の大きさも5.0μmを超える粒子が生成され難燃剤用として適切でない。
上記昇温及び維持温度は70〜100℃が好ましい。70℃未満の場合には表面処理剤の再析出が起こることができ、100℃を超える場合には表面処理時にスラリー内の泡が多量発生してコーティングが不均一になる。
酸化マグネシウムの含量が97%以上で、325メッシュの網を通過した死焼MgO粉末10kgを常温の水30リットルに投入して25%濃度のスラリーを製造した。これに15wt%マグネシウムイオン濃度をもつ塩化マグネシウム溶液を水の量に対して5wt%である1.5リットル添加して攪拌した。上記スラリーを攪拌しながら熱を加え2時間内に90℃まで昇温した後、温度を4時間維持して水和反応させ水酸化マグネシウム粒子を得た。
塩化マグネシウム溶液と苛性ソーダの水熱合成反応で生成された水酸化マグネシウム粒子は、角の丸い六角板状の結晶形態を有し、粒子の大きさは0.5〜3.0μm、比表面積は5m2/g、不純物の含量において鉄とマンガン化合物の含量が0.02wt%以下のものを使用して、上記のような表面処理工程を実施して粒子を製造した。
Claims (9)
- 粒度が0.2〜5.0μm、平均粒度が1.0〜1.5μm、比表面積が3〜8m2/gの範囲内にあり、かつ酸化マグネシウムの水和により生成された多面状の結晶形態を有する難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム(Mg(OH)2)粒子。
- 酸化マグネシウム(MgO)を325メッシュ以下の粒度に粉砕する段階と、
粉砕された酸化マグネシウムと水を混合して得られた混合溶液に無機酸またはマグネシウム塩を添加して水和させる段階と、を含んで成る難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム粒子の製造方法。 - 前記酸化マグネシウムは、焼成温度1500℃以上で熱処理され、化学的純度が97wt%以上であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム粒子の製造方法。
- 前記水和が60〜100℃の範囲内の温度と常圧で1〜4時間攪拌することによって行われることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム粒子の製造方法。
- 前記無機酸またはマグネシウム塩の添加量は、前記水の量に対して0.5〜30重量%の範囲であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム粒子の製造方法。
- 請求項1に記載の水酸化マグネシウム粒子を水に分散させスラリーを製造する段階と、
前記製造されたスラリーを昇温して維持する段階と、
前記水酸化マグネシウムスラリーに表面処理剤として炭素数が10個以上の脂肪酸油と界面活性剤を添加し混合して表面処理する段階と、を含んで行われる難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム粒子の表面処理方法。 - 前記脂肪酸油は、ステアリン酸、エルカ酸、パルミチン酸、ラウリン酸、オレイン酸、ベヘン酸を含むグループから選択された少なくとも一種で、前記界面活性剤はスルホコハク酸(sulfosuccinic acid)エステル系物質であることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム粒子の表面処理方法。
- 前記表面処理剤の添加量は、前記水酸化マグネシウムの量に対して1〜10wt%の範囲で、前記界面活性剤の添加量は前記表面処理剤の量に対して0.5〜5wt%の範囲であることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム粒子の表面処理方法。
- 前記昇温及び維持段階は60〜100℃の範囲内の温度で、前記表面処理時間は1〜3時間行われることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の難燃剤用水酸化マグネシウム粒子の表面処理方法。
