Description
混合物を、冷却し、洗浄し、乾燥する。冷却は、約20℃〜約40℃の温度で、ある実施態様においては約22℃〜約30℃の温度で、約1時間〜約8時間、ある実施態様においては約1.5時間〜約5時間である。
本開示におけるトナーを乳化凝集法により調製した。トナーは、簡潔に述べれば、次のようにして調製した。約3000kgのスチレン/ブチルアクリレート樹脂、約800kgのRP238/122(Sun Chemicalから入手したマゼンタ着色剤)、約7000kgの脱イオン水、及び凝集剤として約50kgのポリ塩化アルミニウムを均質化し、リアクター中で約1時間〜約2.5時間の間混合した。連続して混合しながら、次いでバッチを約25℃〜約47℃(樹脂のTgより低い温度)に加熱し、粒子凝集体混合物を成長させた。凝集体が約4.2μm〜約4.8μmの粒子サイズに達した後、約1800kgのスチレン/ブチルアクリレート樹脂をシェルとして添加し、その間、粒子凝集体は約5.2μm〜約5.8μmの所望の粒子サイズに達するまで成長し続けた。所望の粒子サイズが得られた後、約100kgの苛性ソーダと約60kgのVersene(Dow Chemicalから得られるエチレンジアミン四酢酸(EDTA))を反応に添加し、次いで温度を約47℃〜約95℃に上昇させ、ここにおいて粒子の形状は樹脂のTgより高い温度で球状化し始めた。バッチが約95℃の融合温度に達した後、MalvernのSysmex FPIA2100 Flow Particle Image Analyzerで測定して、トナー目標真円度が約0.96〜約0.985に達するまで、その温度において、バッチを約2時間〜約4時間の間保持した。次いでバッチを約40℃の温度に冷却し、ただちに、粒子表面上のグラフト化界面活性剤分子を脱着させるために、約300kg〜約400kgの酸を添加した。冷却後、混合物を振動シーブに移し、これを介して篩い、粗粒子を除去した。篩った後、次いでスラリーを洗浄し、フィルタープレスを用いて乾燥し、続いて遠心乾燥した。
Claims (4)
- 45℃〜54℃のガラス転移温度及び33000〜37000の分子量を有する第一ラテックスを含むコア、
55℃〜65℃のガラス転移温度及び33000〜3700の分子量を有する第二ラテックスを含み、前記コアを取り巻くシェル、並びに、
少なくとも2種の添加剤を含む一成分トナー。 - 前記第一ラテックスが49℃〜53℃のガラス転移温度及び34000〜36000の分子量を有し、前記シェル中のラテックスが56℃〜61℃のガラス転移温度及び34000〜36000の分子量を有し、
更に着色剤を含み、
界面活性剤、凝固剤、及び、それらの任意の混合物からなる群から任意に選択される1以上の成分を含み、
非磁性エマルジョン凝集トナーである請求項1に記載の一成分トナー。 - スチレンアクリレート、スチレンブタジエン、スチレンメタクリレート、及びそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択され、45℃〜54℃のガラス転移温度及び33000〜37000の分子量を有する第一ラテックスを含むコア、
スチレンアクリレート、スチレンブタジエン、スチレンメタクリレート、及びその組み合わせからなる群から選択され、55℃〜65℃のガラス転移温度及び33000〜37000の分子量を有する第二ラテックスを含み、前記コアを取り巻くシェル、並びに、
シリカ、金属酸化物、コロイド状シリカ、チタン酸ストロンチウム、及びそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される少なくとも2種の添加剤を含む一成分トナー。 - 45℃〜54℃のガラス転移温度及び33000〜37000の分子量を有するラテックス、着色剤水分散液、及び70℃〜85℃の融点を有するワックスの分散液を接触させて、ブレンド液を形成し、
ブレンド液と凝固剤とを混合し、
混合物を加熱して、凝集懸濁液を形成し、
塩基を添加して、pHを4から7の値に増大させ、
凝集懸濁液を加熱して、凝集懸濁液を融合させて、これによりトナーコアを形成し、
55℃〜65℃のガラス転移温度及び33000〜37000の分子量を有する第二ラテックスを凝集懸濁液に添加して、第二ラテックスはトナーコア上にシェルを形成し、
少なくとも2種の添加剤をトナーに添加し、
トナーを回収することを含む方法。
