Claims (8)
- 集電エンドプレート(11)間に設けられた複数の燃料電池(7)と、
少なくとも1つの反応物ガスマニホルド(12〜15)、
を有する燃料電池スタック(8)であって、
少なくとも1つの反応物ガスマニホルドのそれぞれが(a)VIP(59)又はGFP(63)がその内部又は外部に設けられた単一壁(14d,14e)、あるいは(b)真空、低熱伝導率ガス、VIP又はGDFを収容するチャンバを形成する二重壁(14a,14b,14c)のいずれか一方を含んでなることと、
前記エンドプレートのそれぞれの外部表面上に配置される、それぞれが(a)真空又は低熱伝導率ガスを収容した中空チャンバ、(b)VIP、又は(c)GFPの何れかを含んでなる絶縁パネル(40)、
を含む改良を特徴とする燃料電池スタック。 - 前記燃料電池スタックが、複数の前記反応物ガスマニホルドと、反応ガス流域として機能する多孔質水輸送板を有し、
前記燃料電池スタックが50氷点下日よりも長い間、周囲環境中で非動作状態にあるとき、前記スタック内の水が完全に凍結しないよう、前記マニホルドと前記絶縁パネルが、前記燃料電池スタックの質量と熱容量の積、外側表面積及び保水量に相関して選択されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の燃料電池スタック。 - 前記燃料電池スタックが、複数の前記反応物ガスマニホルドと、反応ガス流域として機能する多孔質水輸送板とを有し、
前記燃料電池スタックが約100氷点下日の間、周囲環境中で非動作状態にあるときに、前記スタック内の水が完全に凍結しないよう、前記マニホルドと前記絶縁パネルが、前記燃料電池スタックの質量と熱容量の積、外部表面積及び保水量に相関して選択されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の燃料電池スタック。 - 前記燃料電池スタックが複数の前記反応物ガスマニホルドと、反応ガス流域として機能する多孔質水輸送板とを有し、
前記燃料電池スタックが約150氷点下日の間、周囲環境中で非動作状態にあるときに、前記スタック内の水が完全に凍結しないよう、前記マニホルドと前記絶縁パネルが、前記燃料電池スタックの質量と熱容量の積、外部表面積及び保水量に相関して選択されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の燃料電池スタック。 - 集電エンドプレート間に設けられた複数の燃料電池(7)と、
それぞれが(a)真空又は低熱伝導率ガスを収容する中空チャンバ、(b)VIP(59)又は(c)GFP(63)のいずれかを含んでなる、前記エンドプレートのそれぞれの外部表面上に設けられた絶縁パネル(40)、
を含んでなることを特徴とする、燃料電池スタック(8)。 - 前記絶縁パネルが、構造的完全性を増強するために、(c)プラスチック、又は(d)樹脂/ガラス繊維複合体の外側フィルム(61)を備える(a)VIP又は(b)GFPを含んでなることを特徴とする、請求項5に記載の燃料電池スタック。
- (a)VIP(59)又はGFP(63)がその内部又は外部に設けられた単一壁(14d,14e)又は(b)真空、低熱伝導率ガス、VIP(59)又はGDF(63)を収容するチャンバを形成する二重壁(14a,14b,14c)のいずれかを備える燃料電池スタック(8)のための、絶縁された反応物ガスマニホルド(12〜15)。
- チャンバを形成する前記二重壁が、構造的完全性を増強するために(e)VIP(59)又は(f)GFP(63)の表面上に、(c)プラスチック、あるいは(d)樹脂/ガラス繊維複合体の層(61)を含むことを特徴とする、請求項7に記載のマニホルド。
