Claims (17)
- 4色カラー出力信号に対応する光を放射する発光体を有する表示装置を駆動するために、3色の色域画定原色に対応する3色カラー入力信号(R,G,B)を、該色域画定原色と一つの追加原色Wとに対応する4色のカラー出力信号(R’,G’,B’,W)に変換するための方法であって、
a)現在ピクセルと隣接ピクセルとに関して3色カラー入力信号(R,G,B)の関数F1としての共通信号値Sを計算するステップと、
b)前記現在ピクセルと隣接ピクセルとに関する共通信号に基づいて最終共通信号値S’を決定するステップと、
c)前記最終共通信号値S’の関数F2の値を計算して、これを前記3色カラー入力信号(R,G,B)の各々に加算することによって前記3色カラー信号(R’,G’,B’)を計算するステップと、
d)前記最終共通信号値S’の関数F3として前記出力信号Wを計算するステップと、を含む方法。 - 前記最終共通信号S’を決定するステップは、前記現在ピクセルと隣接ピクセルとに関する前記共通信号Sの重み付け平均値を計算するステップを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記最終共通信号S’を決定するステップは、現在ピクセルと選択された隣接ピクセルとに関する共通信号Sの最小値を決定するステップを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記最終共通信号S’を決定するステップは、
b1)前記隣接ピクセルに関する最小共通信号値を決定するステップと、
b2)前記最小共通信号値と前記現在ピクセルに関する共通信号値Sとの重み付け平均値を計算するステップと、
b3)前記重み付け平均値と前記現在ピクセルに関する共通信号Sとの最小値としてS’を決定するステップと、を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記関数F1は前記カラー入力信号(R,G,B)の最小値である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記関数F2の計算された値は負である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記関数F2、F3は線形関数である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記関数F2、F3の値は反対の符号を有する、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記関数F2、F3は、カラー入力信号(R,G,B)によって表される彩度を減少させるに伴って傾斜が増加する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記関数F2、F3は、カラー入力信号(R,G,B)によって表される輝度を増加させるに伴って傾斜が増加する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記関数F2、F3は非線形であって、最終共通信号S’が高いときに、より小さな傾斜を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記関数F2、F3は、前記カラー入力信号(R,G,B)によって表される色相にしたがって変化する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記カラー入力信号(R,G,B)は、これらの対応する原色の強度に非線形的に関連する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 強度との線形性をよりよく近似するために前記カラー入力信号の値をある量だけ偏移するステップと、前記入力カラー信号の値が偏移された量の負数だけ前記3色カラー出力信号の値を偏移するステップと、を更に含む、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記表示装置は追加原色に対応する一つ以上の更なる発光素子を有し、また前記方法は、
e)前記4色カラー出力信号(R’,G’,B’,W)のうちの一つを取っておいて、ステップa〜dを適用することによって残りの3色カラー出力信号を4色の追加カラー出力信号(A’,B’,C’,W2)に更に変換し、ここでは、A’、B’、C’が前記残りの3色の更に変換されたカラー出力信号であり、W2が更なる追加原色を駆動するための信号に対応しており、前記4色カラー出力信号のうちの3個は前記3色カラー入力信号として取り扱われ、W2はWとして取り扱われ、(X,A’,B’,C’,W2)を有する前記表示装置を駆動し、ここでは、Xは前記更なる変換において取って置かれたカラー出力信号であるステップと、
f)任意数の追加原色に関して前記更なる変換を繰り返すステップと、を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 取って置かれる前記カラー出力信号の選択は前記表示装置内の発光体の相対的電力効率に依存する、請求項15に記載の方法。
- e)各信号内の等しい量の組合せが、正規化されたカラー入力信号(Rn,Gn,Bn)を生成するために追加原色のXYZ三刺激値に等しいXYZ三刺激値を有するカラーを生成するように、前記カラー入力信号(R,G,B)を正規化して、前記共通信号値と前記3色カラー信号(R’,G’,B’)とを計算するためにステップa)、c)において前記正規化されたカラー入力信号を使用するステップと、
f)各信号内の等しい量の組合せが表示装置白色点のXYZ三刺激値に等しいXYZ三刺激値を有するカラーを生成するように前記3色カラー入力信号(R’,G’,B’)を再正規化するステップと、を更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
